If this were a real incident, I say the guy who told the people in front him to go around the gates should be put in prison on 4 murder charges. Its that simple.
Just brilliant for them to use a crossing for an operation lifesaver promo, that has an improperly installed gate arm. (It is upside down, the stripes are pointing towards the left, insinuating to go around the gate, as opposed to the normal right slanted stripes, to insinuate to keep right) =Fail.
I think they put a black man in the car because they wanna show its a mixed society, and think about it, the white man went, they're not trying to be racist.
Well, I got this one from elsewhere on Youtube, and uploaded it myself so I could show it on my profile on another site. But there's a ton of Canadian ads, which have the same footage on operationlifesaver . ca
People should be absolutely terrified of railroad crossings. Why aren't they? Makes me wonder... would it be useful, maybe, to put up a sign at RRXings that says "A moving train *WILL* kill you if you get too close." Maybe forcing people to look at the truth will engage just enough of their brains to keep them alive for that five minutes they would have saved if they'd managed to beat the train.
I'm scared to death of trains. I won't drive over RR tracks if I don't have to. You have a good idea but I still think people won't care or pay attention.
Sadly your right about no one caring.. And you should fear trains. They are nothing to play around with. Something that is mighty and powerful should get full attention and respect. But people today have little respect for anything...
your fear is well founded. Trains are very dangerous and pack the force of a nuclear warhead, yet people continuisly 'slolem' around closed gates, which are there to protect drivers from these "Nukes on wheels." every 90 minutes, someone is hit by a train and it is mostly because of these dumb manuvers around the closed gates. It only takes a few minutes for a mile and a half long train to pass, but it only takes a second for one to kill you.
Even when they know they could die, there's still the "It won't happen to me" attitude. I study weather, and it's the exact same thing with tornadoes... even down to when it's flattening the house across the street. This society, generally as a whole, is plagued by that philosophy and a helluva lot of people die because of it.
@SnarkLicker terrified of them? Um that's a bit stupid. You should be careful around them...not terrified of them! That may kill you easier if you are terrified of them...
What a stupid father! It was also more intense with the teenage son yelling "DAAAAAAAAD!" and then the father yelling "NOOOOOOOOO!" as the train hits their van.
It's sad isnt it? People are always in such a hurry, and then something tragic like this can happen. When will we slow down to where we "Stop. Look. Listen. Live", and forget about hurrying all the time?
I totally agree with you. I'm scared to death of trains. I'd rather be late than dead. Those damn crossing gates are there to protect people. They're not there for a damn decoration. Yet fuckface retards feel the need to go nowhere in a hurry & drive around them thinking they'll make it.
This is why most crossings in the UK have four gates...two on each side to block both lanes.

If it was me in front of that guy in the pickup, I would flip him the finger and stay right where I was.

Does anyone have the same commerical with the two chicks who get hit by the second train? I laughed my fucking ass off at that one.

You're not alone, Baltimora. I had a different view of trains after seeing "Train Wrecks"...scary!
