soo this is kind of strange, but when I was a kid, I thought that stick Prince john was hitting Hiss with was actually a giant kit-kat bar...Yeah. Don't ask me why, but that's just what I thought as a five-year-old watching this movie...
I really like serious animation like Patlabor and Ghost in the shell but I'm glad that there are animated movies like Robin Hood and The twelve tasks of Asterix , too. Watched them as a child and still have to laugh uncontrollable from sequences like this. :) Every child should at least have a look at these classics.
I really need to watch this again :) I didn't know Sir Hiss hypnotised King Richard; so the snake had a bigger role than I thought :) . Well that's what I've been hearing from comments and from reading the films plot. In fact at the end I just thought King Richard merely returned from a crusade; I had no idea he was on it because of Sir Hiss' hypnosis.
Something tells me that's how the real John acted when he found out that his mother's crown jewels and all of his gold wound up at the bottom of a river
This was the best Disney animated movie of all time in my opinion for all of the adult humor it it! I used to laugh my ass off as a kid when Prince John got all raw on Hiss, and now that I'm almost 30, Sir Hiss is still the ultimate smart ass!!! I love him!!
I was a little confused but, what did Hiss do wrong that Prince John was trying to hit him with the stick? I know that it was actually the Sheriff of Nottingham who got the castle on fire and not Hiss. Was Prince John trying to hit Hiss with the stick because he thought Hiss got the castle on fire or, he was just trying to hit him out of anger because the castle was getting burned up? (Of course, Hiss didn't do anything to the castle since he reminded Prince John from 0:11-0:13).
Good point. I guess John didn't like it when Hiss reminded him that the castle was on fire. Also yes, I remember him getting angry at him and using forceful words at him through the film while hitting him. I know John probably found him more annoying whenever he would be hissing in his ear. Probably in the beginning of the movie he tried suffocating Hiss for hissing in his ear which was when Robin Hood and Little John disguised themselves as fortune tellers.
definitely an "i told you so" type character, but i think prince john hits hiss cause of the fact tht several times throughout the movie, hiss reminds P.J. of his mother's belongs
@GreenTeaLSD That's true. It's a good thing that his brother King Richard punished him by throwing him in jail along with Hiss and the Sheriff Of Nottingham.
Disney comedy was so much better when this film was made. In the 90's and beyond Disney comedy kinda went down hill to be honest; still liked their films but I never laughed once while watching them.
this scene is funny---prince john has lost his temper and sir hiss is right (he was the whole movie) and gets the beating of a lifetime--an angry prince john with a stick, holding his thumb in anger.
I guess it does sound like it, but I've watched this scene with captions and it says "asp." Plus it keeps in with the theme of using types of snakes: "Cowardly Cobra! Procrastinating Python! Aggravating Asp!"
Why did Sir hiss say "you wouldn't listen"?.

Sir Hiss has a lot in common with Kaa from the Junglebook and in turn little John can be likened to Baloo :)
Damocles178 5 months ago
@Damocles178 Leave us not forget here both Little John and Baloo were voiced by Phil Harris.
77J 3 months ago
@77J Yes I know that; he voiced quite a lot of characters in Disney films back in the day; Thomas O Malley among others

HAHAHAHA. So FUNNY!! Sir Hiss may be a bad guy. But I think, deep down he has a little soft spot. Remember when he didnt want Friar tuck Hanged?

Actually, he was more concerned that Friar Tuck would be hanged despite being a member of the Church, not that he was being hanged neccesarily.
