Seeing Frank Miller's masterpiece on screen, though, was an unforgettable experience. Believe it or not, in the end, before the battle of Plataie, the whole male audience weeped in pride!!
Aside from the superb fantasy of the graphics the story is actually very well given, mostly historically accurate, which is unfortunately not the case with Troy... I would have appreciated it even with its poor cinematography if it was even close to Homer's story... As a Greek I was rather offended by the grave, unreasonable changes made in a fine 3.000 year old epos.
actually it's pretty close, the only thing that really is different is the looks/design of the people. Greeks and 300 spartans fight persians and die.
i'd like to knwo the true history of it bcuz i hear soo much...although it seems pretty accurate some pple say its manipulated bcuz we're out in the US. Id say some of it must be true bcuz you can twist soo much
thx...how many greeks was there? I know the spartans received the credit but I really wonder how 1 spartan is compared to the many others....ie. How many can 1 spartan take on? Do you know how they were really defeated? The story goes as they were betrayed but I also hear the outpost/camp was abandoned and that's how they lost their ground
If i remember correctly, there was 300 spartan warrior, and their king Leonidas, and they sacraficed themselfs to buy time for the rest of the greek citys. And the Persians were 400,000-500,000 men strong. At least thats how we learnd it in school :D.
yeah i found that part out by readin up on some history but there were greek soldiers as well. It wasn't just 300 spartans holding down the fort...i read somewhere they had others joined in...
I just wish Troy could have been done this way instead of making it historical. The 300 is historical and Troy needed this abstract approach, GRRR. Imagine seeing the greek gods done in the style of the 300 duking it out..maybe some day?
If anyone disagrees that this is one of the greatest cinematic feats of all time, they better run to a medic quick because someone must have dropped them on their head.
