  • hey the bird and the worm is different.,.,

  • what video editor they are using?

  • I LOVE Maya and Compositing this is just insane!

  • Take a look at the Filmography section on our website for info on how we did it!

  • how did they do that what programs did they use, how long did it take, how do you composite digital animation onfilm footage that has alredy been shot or, better yet, how do you create a completely digital scene in the computer and the animate it?

  • At 2:47 we can see water flowing on the cracken's paw... Is this done with file texture or is it a specially programmed renderman shader ??? Or is it Flowline that can handle this type of effects on the character ??? I'm very curious about it each time I watch this amazing work you did guys !! Man I love VFX ...

  • I'm dying to know the name of the song because is not 'The Bird and the Worm' by The Used ... please someone ...

  • That titan, would be insanely hard to model, and animate, the way it is, perfect quality.

  • I love this tune!!! what is it called?

  • @Chris5044 It's called 'The Bird and the Worm' by The Used...

  • @mpcvfx Awesome dudes! cant wait to start here! keep rocking dudes!! ;)

  • hey i think your referring to the song from the film, i was wondering what song is playing in this video... still both a good ;)

  • What do you use to create the monster at the end and similar things?

  • Nice! im 14 and starting to learn cgi (iv mastering compositing) and got the hang of c4d and max so far, can i get feedback? go to my channel and look at my recent videos, and ps. if you like the videos, sub! :)

  • Does anyone know what's tha name of the song. I'm pretty sure it's not "The Bird and the Worm" because I have that one.

I just can't find this one anywhere

  • (cont.) The same team took care of the cliff surrounding the city as well, which has been painted and projected onto the 3D set.

As usual the compositing department added the final touch introducing animated smoke and other volumetric effects.

  • @mpcvfx very cool. I am 2.5 months from graduating a post grad course in VFX and am dying to get started in the industry (I know how to do everything pretty well, [can model, paint, track, texture, etc... weakest point is animation] but comp in nuke is most definitely my strong point. any tips for getting a good comp job out of school? i already know to avoid large companies as a starting point or ill be stuck in roto for months haha

  • @mpcvfx

Actually, the volumetric effects (smoke, fire, water) were animated by Moving Picture Company's effects team. All the compositors had to do with that stuff was... well, composite it in.

  • In order to handle the complexity of the environment and keeping consistency between shots, we created the city of Argos in 3D with a custim software called Town Planner. This huge model has been lit using Maya and a custom tool named Tickle, and then rendered with Pixar's Renderman. The result has been used as a base by the digital matte painting team which added extra details, pushing the renders to the next level of realism.

  • Cool! How you're dealing with matte paintings? Do you use some special software for most of the cases or you're painting all of them by hand? (I mean not the green screen shots)

  • this is fucking awsome

  • song please !

  • Can someone tell me what's the name of the song in it ?

  • @miriades It's called 'The Bird and the Worm' by The Used...

  • Sweeeet!

  • Amazing work!

    Thanks for releasing some breakdowns.
