If you lose your ipod or iphone contact the police. Make sure to give all data and THE SERIAL NUMBER. With the serial number they will track the ipod by watching any log on to the store or when the ipod/phone is connected to the internet. When it is logged on they will give you an excact address or confront the criminal and give a charge of Theft.

any phone can be tracked. your network knows what phone mast is connected to, so they know what area your phone is in. your network if your phone is locked, may have allowed remote GPS access too, so they can get your GPS location, which is even more useful if your phone stolen. i assume the iphone has the support to report location.

@GummiKu That was the case but not any more, most smart phones are owned on contracts these days so when the police trace your phone they acquire IMEI number of the phone associated with the SIM from your network provider, so even if the sim is removed if the phone is still traceable.

ok i got an update... police said "%$^ u we can't help you call your phone company they give you that information, it belongs to you" so i called the phone company, they said i need a subpoema if i want to track my phone... lol... im tired im giving up.. :(

any phone can be tracked. your network knows what phone mast is connected to, so they know what area your phone is in. your network if your phone is locked, may have allowed remote GPS access too, so they can get your GPS location, which is even more useful if your phone stolen. i assume the iphone has the support to report location.

@Lookitup99, I KNOW DUDE, back in 8th grade i was in gym class and my iphone 2g got stolen. i called AT&T and they said they couldn't track it because it "didn't" have gps tracking but i had my iphone locked so the stealer couldn't get in but i called it one day and the guy answered it turned out it was a guy in my gym class so i fucked him up went to his house with a law suit thingy to enter and got it back :D. hes in jail 2 but yeah man i can feel you its bullshit they lie to us.

I have upgraded to a touchpro2. But my buddy was able to track his touchpro down himself using google latitude. It brought up a map with a blue dot on it allowing him to get the exact location of the phone.
