To keep it short I will forward to your last rant. Lol, unicorn is translated in Hebrew as a one horned animal, the reference is a rhino or an aurochs.
What about after the flood. How did they populate the earth? Incest? Also isn't there a verse that says something about Giant people after the flood that was supposed to have killed everyone?
4) were added in the end. I mean that is something as a devout Christian I cannot explain. Will that change my faith, no. I can say that God does things for a reason but you don't believe in God haha (not funny but it is funny). I believe God does talk to people through emotions. I have felt this. It is a for sure feeling. Something that one cannot deny. It is so amazing. I can only hope that one day you feel the same. I just want to throw all of this out there for you.

If you add all the numbers up, they are different than the sum it gives. I believe that it is only giving the count of men. Then women, children, maids, servants (4)

There are yes many supposed contradictions, but I mean read it carefully, and pay attention. And I want to change what I said because I got the verse wrong. Chapter 1 of Genesis explains the creation of the world. Chapter two talks about a specific part. When God made Adam, how was Adam supposed to know God created it? God then (3)
I usually use New King James and it is a lot clearer. The first verse you read in Genesis was talking about the fish and all in the sea. The second verse is talking about the land mammals. I looked at two versions and I didn't see what you were talking about. There are no contradictions in the Bible. When looking at this you have to realize that there are signs and symbols in the Bible. You must look at the verses in context. The second set of
I havn't talked to God face to face as a friend but I've felt the holy spirit which you can feel and witness. God is made of three forms The Lord,Jesus and the Holy Spirit. such as water, ice and water vapor. All same but different, get what im saying? The holy spirit is the part of the Lord inside of all of us, I know you'll find God one day and you'll take back all of this. but the question is, when will that day be?

Hey you forgot the bit about where did Cain wife came from. I mean there was his mom, dad and brother. He killed his brother so there are three people on the planet, yet he manages to find a wife.
quietbuck..Gen.1;20 does not say "for the water" it says "let the water bring forth" comming from the water. and 2;19 says "Out of the ground" or from the ground "not for land" you must know that the writer lied. Thank you

There's a few points that you're missing here. Though the 2 creation narratives do contradict, the part about Moses and God speaking face to face and yet Moses having not seen the face of God is satisfied by the Jewish concept of Shekina. Same way that Christians can say that Jesus is the incarnate God and yet no one has ever seen the face of God. Lastly, numbers in the Hebrew texts are not quite as straightforward as they are in English texts because they use alphabetic numerology.
The alphabetic numerology they used was far less specific than the Roman style alphabetic numerology so we expect the numbers to greatly vary even when they are referring to the same event.
instead of saying "shekina" why did you just say holy ghost? and like i said, the book says moses spoke to god face to face as freinds would speak. im not into deoving into metaphors, i take this book at face value.
I said Shekina because Shekina and Holy Spirit are different things. Your following statement amazes me though. If you take the book at face value, then you're not delving. You can only delve into metaphors since shallow statements don't require deep thought and study. On the other hand, if the book is meant to be spiritual, then it's metaphor should take you to depths at least equaling your own personal depth. If it is shallow, it is not an accurate depiction of humanity.
the word "shekina" as I know it mean "divine precense" sorry if I miss spoke and said holy ghost....and i did say that im NOT delving so i dont need a lesson on metaphors and shallow statements. and i agree that the bible is not an accurate depiction of humanity, because not all of humanity believes the nonsense in its pages.
If you're not delving in it then you're not giving an accurate depiction of it. It is a spiritual tool, not a scientific one. If you're not ready to undertake its passages in a spiritual sense, then you aren't really undertaking its passages.
so i cant read it unless im going to use it as a spiritual tool? that is the same as saying "if you dont believe it, then dont read it". and i have to tell you, i cant believe a book that tells me the world was created in 6 days, and that people could live to 900 years old. and i dont see how you can use a book that condones incest and killing your children as a spiritual tool.
I'm not saying don't read it, I'm saying read it properly or at least approach it with a secular reading discipline like you would with other works of literature.
Also, it condones anything the reader wants it to condone and this is the purpose for the oral tradition. To ensure that it is being read properly and understood as intended.
When seen for what it is, the bible is nothing more than a collection of legends and a chronicle of Israel's struggle with idolatry. It is more about us than it is about God.
so your saying the bible condones whatever the reader wants it to.....THAT IS DANGEROUS. and saying the bible is more about "us" than God is probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard, considering that the bible is largely considered "The Word Of God".
Word of God and Word about God are 2 different concepts. You seem to be confusing them. If of course you're right and it is about God, then this God would be easily hated and with good reason. If I'm right, then it is an account showing us our own face from God's perspective. Which one holds more theological significance to us?
I almost forgot to address the first part of your response. It is indeed VERY dangerous particularly when a believer takes it completely literally as you say it should be viewed. This would of course have to ignore the fact that it doesn't say the same exact thing in all languages that it's translated to as well.
actually neither one holds significance to me, because I know that the bible was written by MEN and that they put their own spin on things to fit their own needs. and youre right, the god of the Old testament is easily hated for the atrocities he commits. oh and the sacrifices he requires of his people. ive always been told by religious people i know that the bible is our way of understanding god's wishes. i have never heard it described as god's veiw of humans. i think your reaching
I've got news for you. MOST Christians know that the bible was written by men that put their own spin on it to fit their own needs. If you think that I'm reaching, then you've never read anything written by any of the Church Fathers about proper interpretation of scripture. If you find the God of the Old Testament easily hated then you haven't understood Jesus in the New Testament when He tells us "No one can know the Father but the Son and the on the whom the Son reveals Him."
I dont know if youre confused or just delusional, but I have never met a single christian that will admit that the bible was written by men who put their own spin on it. every one Ive ever met says that it was physically written by men but they couldnt change any of it because it was "the word of god". and dont even start bringing jesus into this, because first of all, I dont believe Jesus ever exsisted and second nothing jesus said can be attributed to him because no one who wrote about
Technically, the gospel of John is still credited to the Apostle John so you're wrong about that. Whether you believe that Jesus existed or not is really irrelevant since you are dealing with interpretive traditions. As long as we credit that gospel to the Apostle John, you're going to have to open that window and bring all the "Jesus 'said'" back inside. Aside from that, we KNOW that Matt was a Disciple of the Apostle Peter's.
If you've never met a single Christian that would admit that the bible was written by men, then you're living in a bubble. The Orthodox and Catholic Churches believe that the bible was written by men. It wasn't until the Protestant Reformation that the tradition which created the New Testament was discarded leaving Protestants with only a book. Consequently, they had to deify that book in order to grant their beliefs validity. The book is worthless without the interpretive tradition.
There is a Catholic Priest by the YT name of thewordonfire who says it like this "the bible is the Word of God written in the words of men." There is also an Orthodox Archibishop by the YT name allsaintsmonastery who talks about proper bible inerrancy and has a series that explains how "the Old Testament is about You."
"If you've never met a single Christian that would admit that the bible was written by men, then you're living in a bubble."......i believe I said I hadnt met one that would admit that the men who wrote the bible put their own spin on it......and if you really think the Apostles wrote their gospels, you are sorely mistaken. the history is out there. the gospels were written down much later and became amalgamations of collected writtings.
If they were written by men, they are clouded with cultural, societal and personal biases. To say that they were written by men at all is to say that they contain the spin of the writer. None of the gospels were written after the first century that were collected into the canon. The consensus is that Matt, Mark and Luke were all influenced by document "Q" which is missing and John was authentically written by John the Apostle.
Christianity makes sense to me. You should try reading it to understand it instead of looking for minor errors.
You just aren't very logical are you? You say "which is it?" as if both Genesis 1:20 and 2:19 can't be true. They aren't mutually exclusive.
Say I ask "Where did the pilgrims come from? One person says Holland and another says Middlesex, England. Guess what, both can be right. Your which is it? Just doesn't work with some questions.
People aren't always looking for errors, but if you truly try to understand a book, you will notice any errors it has. If you are asking to ignore the errors, you're not looking for understanding of truth, you're looking for ways to make it seem true.
And your example doesn't work, the answer is BOTH of the people are wrong as the pilgrims did not come from a single place, so both answers are incomplete.
"And your example doesn't work ... so both answers are incomplete. "
Incomplete answers are not wrong. They are incomplete. That's why you (or the author) follow up in a verse not very far later completing the thought or point. Just like Pilgrims can come from both Holland and Middlesex, animals can come from both the sea and the land.
Incomplete answers are wrong in the sense that they are not reliable. Saying that pilgrims either come solely from Holland or solely from Middlesex is not the same as coming from Holland and Middlesex.
You are adding a different factor by saying "soley". Even worse, if a few sentences later in the same account the author makes clear that Pilgrims also come from the other location then your objection makes even less sense. You are basically saying every sentence in every story has to include every detail in that sentence alone, as if each sentence is unrelated to the others.
It's not me adding it. Its a plausible interpretation of the facts of the example, which shows that you can have wildly different takes on a narrative when the words lack conciseness and accuracy, and therefore, in those cases a skeptical outlook is preferable than just picking whichever interpretation we find more appealing.
Ever hear of the concept of "both'? They can come from the land and the sea, just like the Pilgrims can come from both England and Holland. It isn't one or the other.
Imagine there is a textbook on immigration to the United States. Chapter one states that the immigrants came from Gloucestershire (why not take this opportunity to get to know the English counties?). Chapter two states the immigrants came from Gelderland.
I think most U.S. history teachers would be wary of this this textbook, and for good reason. It needlessly confuses the student.
i feel sorry for you happi. the people who worte the book obviously didnt have much respect for the people they were writing it for, because they didnt even bother to check for mistakes. but then again they didnt need to check because they knew their followers would eat it up blindly. and judging by your defense of the most blatent of contradictions, they were right.
You haven't established it was a mistake at all. They obviously came from both. It is only a few verses apart, the author assumes you read the prior verse only a couple of dozen verses before.
ignore bloodeyes2 comments. he says the same thing on every video... calls people condescending, then tells them how stupid they are. quite a mystery how his brain works.
The next time you choose to speak about bible contradictions, make sure you read the bible in its entirety and pick out the things you find contradictory, not those ones you find on GOOGLE.
Moses spoke with God, so did Job wrestle with God, but you obviously haven't read the context & intellectual commentaries on those bible passages. What makes you the genius who made this EPIC discovery out of the numerous QUALIFIED and HIGHLY EDUCATED scholars that have reviewed the bible for centuries?
You atheists are condescending and pathetic, you think you know it all. People have had debates over the bible for hundreds of years, scholars who read and understood the original Hebrew version and understood its historical context.
However, it is someone who sits in his parent's basement with no deep knowledge of history, or ancient languages, or even theology, or philosophy, that is the person we must listen to, because he knows more than the countless scholars know, are you kidding me?!
Are you saying bloodeyez2, that without a deep knowledge of history, ancient languages, or theology, one might not have a good understanding of the Bible? It has always seemed strange to me that a God would choose the written word as his main mode of communication with people when until VERY recently, the majority of people on this planet were illiterate, and of course, deep knowledge of history, language, theology, simply an impossibility for the common man.
actually i didnt get those contradictions from google.....ive read the bible....the whole fucking thing......so the contradictions i found came from me reading that book. and trust me i got plenty more where that came from.
The Bible was wrote to put fear in people and help priests make money so they can rape little kids.

Jesus ever met him (assuming he exsisted). So everything Jesus "said" can be tossed right out the window.
TheAtheistGoatee 2 years ago

I'm sorry, the Catholic Priest's YT name is wordonfirevideo not thewordonfire

Just doesn't work with some questions.
happileepuppilee 2 years ago
People aren't always looking for errors, but if you truly try to understand a book, you will notice any errors it has. If you are asking to ignore the errors, you're not looking for understanding of truth, you're looking for ways to make it seem true.
And your example doesn't work, the answer is BOTH of the people are wrong as the pilgrims did not come from a single place, so both answers are incomplete.

"And your example doesn't work ... so both answers are incomplete. "
Incomplete answers are not wrong. They are incomplete. That's why you (or the author) follow up in a verse not very far later completing the thought or point. Just like Pilgrims can come from both Holland and Middlesex, animals can come from both the sea and the land.
lanastompanato 2 years ago
Incomplete answers are wrong in the sense that they are not reliable. Saying that pilgrims either come solely from Holland or solely from Middlesex is not the same as coming from Holland and Middlesex.
Cafeeine 2 years ago
You are adding a different factor by saying "soley". Even worse, if a few sentences later in the same account the author makes clear that Pilgrims also come from the other location then your objection makes even less sense. You are basically saying every sentence in every story has to include every detail in that sentence alone, as if each sentence is unrelated to the others.
lanastompanato 2 years ago
It's not me adding it. Its a plausible interpretation of the facts of the example, which shows that you can have wildly different takes on a narrative when the words lack conciseness and accuracy, and therefore, in those cases a skeptical outlook is preferable than just picking whichever interpretation we find more appealing.
Cafeeine 2 years ago
how can they come from both the land and the sea? that doesnt make sense. they come from one or another. that was my point.
TheAtheistGoatee 2 years ago
"they come from one or another"
Ever hear of the concept of "both'?

TheAtheistGoatee 2 years ago
You haven't established it was a mistake at all. They obviously came from both. It is only a few verses apart, the author assumes you read the prior verse only a couple of dozen verses before.

ignore bloodeyes2 comments. he says the same thing on every video... calls people condescending, then tells them how stupid they are. quite a mystery how his brain works.
thisguysajerk 2 years ago
The next time you choose to speak about bible contradictions, make sure you read the bible in its entirety and pick out the things you find contradictory, not those ones you find on GOOGLE.
Moses spoke with God, so did Job wrestle with God, but you obviously haven't read the context & intellectual commentaries on those bible passages. What makes you the genius who made this EPIC discovery out of the numerous QUALIFIED and HIGHLY EDUCATED scholars that have reviewed the bible for centuries?
bloodeyez2 2 years ago
You atheists are condescending and pathetic, you think you know it all. People have had debates over the bible for hundreds of years, scholars who read and understood the original Hebrew version and understood its historical context.
However, it is someone who sits in his parent's basement with no deep knowledge of history, or ancient languages, or even theology, or philosophy, that is the person we must listen to, because he knows more than the countless scholars know, are you kidding me?!
bloodeyez2 2 years ago
"You atheists are condescending and pathetic"
hmmmm.... that sentence. there's something about it i can't quite put my finger on...
oh, i see... you first called someone condescending, then you directly follow it by calling them pathetic...
see, what you did was be condescending by calling him pathetic.
you're fucked up..
thisguysajerk 2 years ago
Are you saying bloodeyez2, that without a deep knowledge of history, ancient languages, or theology, one might not have a good understanding of the Bible? It has always seemed strange to me that a God would choose the written word as his main mode of communication with people when until VERY recently, the majority of people on this planet were illiterate, and of course, deep knowledge of history, language, theology, simply an impossibility for the common man.
Edella 2 years ago
I hope my question doesn't come off as condescending.
Edella 2 years ago
I wouldn't bother with that hope. There is such a thing as warranted condescension.
Cafeeine 2 years ago
actually i didnt get those contradictions from google.....ive read the bible....the whole fucking thing......so the contradictions i found came from me reading that book. and trust me i got plenty more where that came from.
