tactually you cant compare mustangs, and camaros to vettes or exotics.....some people do buy them because they cant afford them, others buy them because that is what they want, I know of some very rich folks that wouldnt buy a vette or a an exotic for that matter for anything in the world........just appreciate the vehicle and leave it be.
ok so theres alot of editing in this video, and the fact that he did a forever long burnout before finally driving through and then he whipped a bunch of shitties, so the guy had enough time to get out and run over to the mustang while it was doing donuts and get in is my best guest.
Soooooooooo much editing. We are not seeing it from start to finish. Did he do a test run? At some point the car passed through and ,he actually got in earlier.. You see a double inside in the easy to get out of handcuffs. Maybe even a pre-taped video for the audience of Steve inside before the smoke covers everything.
@MrSHELBYCOBRA , being that i own a 74 corvette a 2009 zo6 and a 97 cobra and a 87 merk 5.0 i think i can say you are wrong . i mean the merk 5.0 is my fav but the vette is pretty unreal . if you have not driven one then dont even respond to this .
@ERietdyk does it really ? thats pretty sad on fords part . maybe they should just go all the way and make the mustang a independent lol , i have an 86 xr4ti witch has an independent rear with a mustang 5.0 and it kills the fox body that i keep almost recking with that damn posi track and 8.8 rear . hated that brick . for that matter it kills my friends 2006 stang , amazing what 600 less pounds does for a car
@merkurdude People keep saying that it's sad, but I see it the other way. Ford's built the best LRA in the world, which is able to keep up even with BMW's IRS's. Until the IRS actually becomes an upgrade, I doubt they'll be going that route.
@ERietdyk that is a good point , they do have a good set up , but idk about beating a independent rear car , i am building my second merk 5.0 and it really is amazing , 700-750 pounds lighter then the mustang , better grip and just alot more fun to drive . its a german ford best knowen as the cosworth rs500 . or there was a xr8 , and an xr4ti , i have an xr4ti with a 5.0 efi motor and i must say i love it . best car in that class of cars ...
@merkurdude The 2010 has A 5 speed Manual or Auto. The 2011 is bigger news it has 6 speeds of both and the new 5.0 it is WAY faster than the IRS in the Camaro and Challenger. Motor Trend just did a test with it against the Newest BMW M3 it was only A few Hundredths of a second slower around a race track. The live axle is fine as long as it is set up right. I have A 2010 GT and I love it, best handling car I have ever driven. lived in Germany my Army buddies n I rented n drove everything so I know
@hendo337 yes i know that the new 2011 is way better , they finally gave it a new power plant and trans , im a huge ford guy and work with mustangs all the time . so i know most of my shit . i have not yet driven the 2011 but i here it is better then the camaro by alot , i love the camaro but after driving it . the car is great but it has blind spots like crazy and the window on it makes me fell like im driving my 74 corvette . its a nice car but if i had to pick i would go with a challanger lol
@GoGoggansGo I finally gave in and bought an '11 5.0 last week it is AWESOME. If you sub me I will have vids soon. There are also vids of my '10 on there now.
So how in the heck did they do that...mustang didnt look like it slowed down AT ALL lol...how did he get in the car AND in the drivers seat is my question!.....? Wats your best guess?
um....mustangs and camaros ARE for people who can't afford 'vettes. And 'vettes ARE for people who can't afford exotics. That's kind of the whole point of them--each one competes in a different class. Camaros and mustangs=pony cars. vette/grandsport, boxter, cayman, etc=sports cars. Z06, ZR1, 911, Skyline GTR, Gallardo, R8, f430, etc=near-supercars. Above that, super/hypercars. Comparing them is like throwing a featherweight in with the heavyweights--that's not what they're designed for.
Actually most high-performance cars are designed for people who feel that their manlihood will improve if they purchase an impressive car at a ridiculous price.
Many car brands (porsche, for instance) get the lion's share of their revenue from that tendency, despite the fact that they do not make very good race cars in any class.
Except Porsche has over 28,000 race victories in total, more than any other car company ever.
There may be a lot of people who buy high-performance cars because they feel their manhood will improve, I won't try to argue against that at all. There are always people like that in any hobby-- with more money than brains, who buy more gear, be it skis or scuba gear or guns or cars or what have you, than their level of skill necessitates. But to say the car is designed for them is unfair.
@elitisty If Porsche does not make very good race cars. Why is Porsche in every major racing series worldwide? Or, why does the ALMS heavily restrict the Porsche teams, just so other constructors can compete?
Actually, Porsche are currently withdrawing from the more expensive racing leagues, and the ALMS (and just about every other racing league) restrict all models in almost every class in order to keep the race interesting. Not just Porsche.
Porsche seems to have won a total of 2 GT-class victories in the past ten years.
They also won 2 prototype class victories in that same timespan, but I honestly don't see how that relates to the Porsche roadcars.
"Many car brands (porsche, for instance) get the lion's share of their revenue from that tendency, despite the fact that they do not make very good race cars in any class." You turned the discussion towards the relationship between road car sales and race car successes in your original comment. To the original point: If "most high-performance cars are designed for people who feel that their manlihood will improve", then why does any company bother to engineer any level of performance in at all?
that is to say, why not just build super-manly slow, wallowy cars that don't stop/go/turn worth a crap? If all sports cars are designed to cater to the "mine's bigger than yours" market, would it not be cheaper to just make everything rough, tough, hard-edged, rugged-looking, and ultimately crap underneath?
The «mine's bigger than yours»-market is not blind to performance stats. In fact having a car that can go super-awesome-fast seems to be one of the deciding factors even though you'll never really need the extra speed and handling outside the racetracks.
In fact, the tendency to look down on nice looking cars that aren't as strong as other sports cars can be seen in this very comment thread.
My vote is that it's a stunt double in the smoke and always was. I mean, you never REALLY see his face up close and the audience on the day wouldn't have been able to tell since he was so far away. I think the magician was always in the car and the stunt double just gets out of the way using magic.
By reading these comments some people seem to fail to realize both the original driver and the magician came out of the car at the end, with the magician in the driver's seat.
ur a dipshit... corvettes as cars are just as good as lamborghinis and ferraris for a fraction of the price.... The z06 broke records at the nurburgring. Of course for little sissies like you who like cars for their ability to pick up chicks... lamborghinis are perfect! italian cars are the best cars for the first 3 minutes then they are a mess
Yeah, obviously the smoke was to hide him getting out of the chains and then the spins at the end was to distract everyone while they finished getting things into position.
what if he was already loose within the chains and when the car was driving into the chains he was able to jump inside the front screen and needed time to settle down inside the car so he started to drift to cause a fog to hide himself inside the car and also put back the front window back in. Makes u wonder
1:18 "Literally a race against time." Literally? Really? You are going to literally race against time? The concept of time? You are a douchebag magician who fails. You can literally suck my balls.
My guess would be a body double is who got locked in the box. Based on the distance that the crowd is away from the stunt, the little that they actually show of him up close once chained in and the Limo Tint on every window of the Stang including windshield. At one point it also looks like the guy that is shackled has longer spiked hair in front. It is still impressive to get out of the box in the time allowed between full smoke and the crash.
yeah and I'm sure they switched the mustangs in the 5 feet of smoke... They likely have some sort of catching mechanism which also quickly opens and closes the car door so all he has to do is stand in the right place and the inertia pulls him into the car. It's not that hard to imagine.
