He's so very straight that he'd be fine with Spock doing it, but as soon as he realizes it's a female, all he could think about was sexing her up. Since he's the Captain and she's a yeoman, such a relationship would be completely inappropriate. Nothing gay here at all.

Also, in "Wrath of Khan", then Spock said "I have been and ever shall be YOURS" (this was in the fist half of the movie), it was translated "your friend" instead of "yours" =\
It seems to me, that Russian translators are afraid of ambiguity.
And yes, I LOVE this scene, I think it's very funny. It was obviously accidental, but was never taken out, just like the scene where mind-controlling aliens make Kirk get down an all fours and make horse noises, while a midget rode him (it was since revealed to be actors filmed while fooling around in-between takes).

It was, in fact, noted for its LACK of any sort of emotion, let alone homosexual innuendo.
No my view did not changed. I still think there's a light gay touch in Star Trek... but it's ok. I like gays. And Spock and Kirk would make a cute couple. Ah and once Shatner said in a interview, that of all romantic conquests (He had a lot of alien girls, everybody knows...) Spock was his greatest. Or the one he was most proud about. Ok, I knew it was just a joke but in every little joke is a bit of truth. And Roddenberry never disclaimed it anyway. :-))
First time I just blinked and wondered if I was making it up. Second time I grinned uncontrollably and yelled gay at my mom (..she was scared). And now, it just makes me smile knowingly - it's just like, well duh!
