I think the Russian River Brewing bottles say to leave the yeast in the bottles because they use wild yeast. I have had the Redemption Ale I haven't had the Damnation Ale.
@sector69102 Most people leave the yeast in the bottle but I like to try it with the beer. Sometimes it helps and sometimes not so much. That's the fun of beer though. Cheers!
oopps i didn't mean to post the comment below this one. Anyways like i was saying i like to watch your reviews and drink the same beer, can't always do it, but when i do it's great. In this case i didn't have the meal with it but it is still a great brew by RR. Im Falling in love with Belgian Styles.
mark,i noticed a lot of top notch craft brewers doing there take on belgian goldens.great review! where can i buy a big green egg?(you've sold me on one!!)
@60timus1 Yeah, more and more brewers are trying their hand at the style. Many of them are pretty darn good.
Big green eggs are sold mostly through local dealers. So check in your area to see who sells them. If you're going to buy one, I'd suggest getting a large as it's big enough to cook just about anything you'd need to. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to answer them for you.
Love the size of the bottle, looks like a 75cl bottle miniature. Sounds like an interesting beer, would love to be try some Russian River some time! Im not the biggest fan of ''fat'' fish like salmon, im more into white fish like cod e.g., but this sounded good! I LOVE corn-on-the-cob!!! Best corn-on-the-cob i have had, was some fresh sweet corn (i belive it was called), i had when i visited some relatives in Iowa in 2006! But great review!
@TheMasterOfHoppets Russian River makes some good beers. definite try one if you get the chance. Salmon is really good grilled and corn on the cob is a Summer favorite. if you had some from Iowa then you had some of the best around! The corn we get here in the South isn't near as good as the corn we got when we lived in Chicago. Midwest corn is so much better.
Hey good review that salmon looks amazing my wife is a big fan of salmon. The way i cook it is get a portion of salmon, put it on some foil with a knob of butter, salt and pepper and lemon juice. Wrap the foil in a parcel sealing the top and sides. Serve with boiled potatoes and roast mediterranean vegetables done in olive oil. Try it one day im sure you will love it.
Man, you're just living the life here, aren't you? Fit for a king! Love how you grilled the corn with the husks still on them! They look plump and absolutely scrumptious, I will be trying that very soon. Russian River is one of the very best breweries on the planet. You almost couldn't go wrong being blindfolded and choosing a random six pack from their entire selection.
@d0ublestr0ker0ll Grilled Salmon and good beer is a pretty darn good way to enjoy a nice day! The grilled corn usually comes out very well, the roasting in the husk works great. I have not been disappointed with the two Russian River beers I've had so far and hopefully I can try some more here very soon.
@Chad9976 Corn can be really sweet if it's in season but roasting it does sweeten it up some just by itself.
I rarely get any bones in fish, especially the prepackaged fillets. They do a pretty good job of filleting them properly. Fish is so tasty that I'll put up with the occasional bone.
Yeah, Russian River makes some good stuff, I wish it was available here as well. You can always trade for it or get some from a retailer who can ship to NY.
@Chad9976 We got ours when we were in Seattle back in 2001. You can do a search on Google for Cedar Planks and find plenty of sources. You can even get them at Lowes or Home Depot.
I shared my bottle of Damnation with friend back in January I believe. I remember really liking it. Haven't had Duvel in a really long time. Maybe I'll have to pick up a bottle and see how it compares to the Damnation.
I have a bottle of Consecration in my beer fridge / cellar and should be a getting a supplication sometime soon in a trade with odeed.
@Tsalts Damnation is good (the beer). I think Duvel is just a bit better, but not by much. Hopefully I can get some Consecration and Supplication when we're in San Francisco.
another great review. interesting pairing with the salmon and corn. i wouldn't have thought of that. maybe i'll give it a shot now that its grilling season.
good point on the alcohol being masked under the flavors. i think thats something RR does very well. Pliny the younger is almost 11% and you could drink that like it's Yoo-Hoo.
@dirtywilly26 Grilled Salmon is very good, and pretty healthy as well. The alcohol was very well hidden and come to think of it the Pliny I had (Elder) did a good job of hiding it as well. Hopefully I can get some of the younger when we're out in San Fran this Fall.
i love your cooking videos...i have used several of your recipes now ( chicken mole was a hit) and my wife thinks i am just an amazing cook....... i told her i learned how to cook by watching beer reviews....
@cpalmer2312 That's awesome! I'm glad I've been able to help you become a superstar with your wife! Keep watching my "beer reviews" and you should hopefully learn some more.
Did you happen to get any footage of the Great Divide brewery? They are one of my favorites, i'd love to see a video like you did for the Terrapin brewery. Hope you enjoyed it.
@adramatictheme The dinner came out very good and the beer was a great match. I did get video of the Great Divide tour we took. It's in the 1st video from our trip to Colorado. I posted it on June 7th or so. Check it out!
@odeed Yeah, I would like to put a bottle away for a couple of years. I tried a year-old Duvel and it was excellent so I would think this one would do just as well.
@James2179109 Definitely try it. Grilled corn is very good. Just make sure to trim off the silk and any of the husk that is loose to keep the corn from catching on fire!
@mavxr Thanks but don't be too jealous, the camera doesn't show the humidity! The beer and the Salmon though were very good. You guys probably get some good, fresh Salmon, right?
@VideoBeerReviews Yea we do, but the atmosphere you have there with your big green egg, the weather and the view is worth being jealous of :D. Ireland at the moment is in a heat wave, its normally just rain rain rain.

I usually boil corn-on-the-cob and add a bunch of sugar to the water to sweeten it up.
I don't usually like fish because they tend to have tiny little bones in them you can never see until you feel it in your mouth.
yet another tasty beer I can't get out my way :(
