I am a Brazilian currently living in Montreal (permanent resident status).

That's one of the reasons I left my homecountry. It's been this way throughout all of Brasil's history: the corrupt powers that be eliminates people who might pose a threat to their exploitative ways.

Don't get me wrong: Brasil is a marvelous country with tremendous potential. Yet I don't see Brazilian society getting rid of its rigged political system in the near future and that makes it a not that safe place to be.
