Very cool that you did this, but you were a bit too close to the mountain itself to get shots. Too often it seems like we're looking at the summit tip as you fly over, then looking at a lot of sky and clouds.
Gary, That looks like a lot of fun!!! One of these days I'm going to drag my old Schreder HP-14 to Hood River and attempt to complete the altitude portion of a Diamond badge.
Just a little bit, but this was the middle of summer! We had gobs of wave this summer, which was very unusual. Notice all the rocks exposed on the Mountain? In the winter, you can't hardly see any.
Lot's of glider pilots express a desire to take this ride, but it's not always that easy. To do this takes being there day after day, practising your wave skills so when your chance to do this happens, you are ready to take advantage of it.

You can get to diamond altitude here without even going above 18K!
