If one buys this, one also has to swallow the idea that either this deity hates all amputees or he's only interested in healing the salamanders...
Of course one also has to buy an him forgetting about the mouthy snake he left in his garden, made the universe (including stars) in the dark, could make the universe from nothing but had to use clay to make a human, had to use a bone from the first human to make the second, created day and night before the sun, just in the first chapter...
so is this real or not, I am trying to find the truth here and I am reading the bible. I really want to find the truth in this life time of mine so that my future generations would know it.,
WHat a giant load of shit. At least 1/3 of holes in babies hearts spontaneously close. There is a point where there is a hole. It heals. It spontaneously is not there. A full, fucking third.
You've got to be kidding me, that this was gods work?
As for the other shit? Fuck me. Ask ANY ear doctor who says they have seen a totally fucking deaf patient, with cochlear damage who has ever been healed by prayer. You will find NONE. What... God can only help the mildly deaf? This is all bullshit.
Its kind-of sad that the majority of comments here mock what they can't understand.
Plainly and simply, there is assuredly a God who cares about your every moment. God still intervenes in our daily lives. We have free will to choose eternal pain, suffering and banishment from HIS presence. FOREVER It is however TRULY sad that so many people make this exact choice, without even lending it the same attention that they would in picking out a gym to join or a stock to purchase. Respectfully
Bethel is New Age. I've known people from that church who believe in New Age and Gnostic ideas. I think the reason for this is because they have no teaching and doctrine. It's all "worship" [of the self] and I believe they are headed toward meditation and full blown New Age apostasy.
god answers prayers and performs miracles, why does he completly ignores amputees when they pray for a miracle....please dont invent a excuse on gods behalf....amputated legs do not regenarate in response to prayer.....amputees get no miracles from god.
@MrEnlightenup I know it's been two months since you asked this so It probably doesn't matter anymore. But the answer is simple. 1st we don't own or control God. If we did then we'd have god backwards and he's certainly no dog. 2nd we do not know what is best for us. For all we know the amputation is a blessing as it was with my cousin. (as displayed by TheMemphisSaint) he is quite happy And it happened in Jan this very year. Many miracles following that story. 3rd it's only temporary.
@Snowmon89 ARE YOU SPEAKING CHRISTIANESSE,YOU GAVE ME NO ANSWER,NO FACTS,NOTHING.THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS MIRACLES,THAT WHOULD BE AGAINST NATURAL LAWS OF NATURE.NATURE DOES NOT BEND ITS LAWS FOR NOTHING.MAN MADE GOD OUT OF FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN AND UNEXPLAINED.THE HEALINGS THAT TAKE PLACE AT THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CIRCUS ARE ALL MAKE BELIVE,THEY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED IN THE PAST.AGAIN YOU GAVE ME NO ANSWER,JUST CHRITIANESSE.
@MrEnlightenup Um… dude? Just because you don't accept the answer doesn't make it any less true. You wont accept the facts as facts, then there's nothing that I can provide you. Miracles, by definition, are "Impossible, but happen anyway". My 1st statement may have had a joke in it, but it means that we don't own God. Please look up: John 14:9-14. For my 2nd statement: I have a whole list of miracles that follows my cousin's experience in loosing his legs and pinky finger. My 3rd is what it is
@MrEnlightenup Now the real problem is that I don't think that you're looking for answers. You're just looking for either an excuse, something to blame, or a purpose in life AKA acceptance in a group.
I don't understand the atheist mindset, NOT because I've always had a (christian or otherwise) family that I could turn to, but because I've grown up with the knowledge of a God that told me that Santa Claus doesn't exist. My doubts in him has never come from reality, but fantasies. explain cont.
@Snowmon89 for the record santa did exist and was a real person,st nick, you may also look up unicorns that are mention in the bible 9 times,or giants and taking animals all in the bible,so your reality of a god is a fantasy.all the prayer in the world did not help 6,000,000 jews when they got sent to the ovens, all the prayer did not help the people at the towers that i saw jumping hoping god whould give them wings.

@Snowmon89 there is no problem,i see life for what it is.no magic,no fantasy,no people coming back to life,no feeding 1000s out of a few buckets,no walking on water,no talking animals,no delusion, just reality, thats life........give a man bread and he will eat,let him pray for bread and he will die.
@MrEnlightenup Explain cont. I once quite recently (like 1 or 2 years ago) was taking out the garbage for work. When I saw this shriveled up decrypted hand shoot out from the dumpster. I'm embarassed to admit that The first thoughts that came to my mind was not "Oh, God Help me" but rather "AH Zombie! There really is no god!"
Imagine my relief to find that the hand actually belonged to a raccoon. I can laugh about it now, but I'm still disappointed with myself for thinking that thought especialy
@MrEnlightenup …especially when my cousin this year had stepped on a land mine and his first thoughts were "Okay, who got shot? Oh, I stepped on a land mine. God, why?" He heard his mother's voice answer him, "Don't ask God 'why', ask 'what to do now?'" If my cousin didn't ask himself that question, he'd be dead now. He never gave up on God even when this happened. While I threw him out when I thought zombies were rising from the dead. His faith was stronger than mine then, but so is mine now.
@MrEnlightenup To me YOU're the one who's speaking a different language. When you say that "It didn't happen because it's impossible", then it translates as (in some ways) "Your cousin is dead and buried because none of these miracles occurred." Among other things. I can honestly say that, "There far too many 'coincidences' in my life for it to be anything except God saying, 'hello, I love you'." They say 1ce is an accident, 2ce is coincidence, but 3ce is "murder". SO what are countless times?
don't forget. most of the people running around screaming about God in the store were probably on crystal meth. I've seen much crazier stuff than that in this town. I believe in God but it is very fanatical to say that every strange occurrence is God related.
STAY AWAY FROM BETHEL CHURCH. THEY ARE A CULT! religious authorities declared the lead pastor at BETHEL one of the top 50 FALSE PROPHETS out there. STAY AWAY from them. They turned my sister into a mindless zombie basically.
@dardrex777 Yes they probably said the same thing about Jesus when he healed the blind, the lame and the possessed ,in fact it' recorded in the stories that many thought Jesus did these things by the devil.
@majorl311 Jesus was legit. Bethel is full of brain washing. Every service some one is fainting or doing something else obviously staged.
Bethel is not a legit church. Every church of every denomination in the town won't associate with them cuzz they are fundamentalists. The type of sects that make the entire religion look bad. The leader is a known false prophet from previous churches
A church representing the word of God wouldn't advocate turning women like my sister into submissive slaves
@dardrex777 Yes Jesus was legit, well this CBN broadcast supports the church, and we are supposed to do the things Jesus did,he said that !Do you live in this town also?
I totally agree. I am an animal person and have a special connection with them, especially horses. I have had 2 pets, that have had documented terminal illness that I prayed over them and they have been completely healed. One was a cat with full blown kidney failure the other was a dog with advanced cancer tumors on this testicles and nose. Both have been completely healed and are still around today. I have had many other animal healings but not documented like these 2.
SierraRN01 - those sort of schools aren't meant to teach how to get the gift or anything like that. They are to teach about the gift not to teach the gift itself. They are more for teaching people how to use their gifts. There is this guy called the Holy Spirit which God gave to us as a helper. You receive a spiritual gift through this guy that is called the holy spirit. Its God working through us and using us as a tool, not us somehow producing the power to heal and that sort of thing.
i love how biast the prenters are. All the examples are not miricles they can be explained. A miricle is physical event that breaks physical laws, is that logically possible.
they tell these same stories all the time....they have "schools" for prophesy and healing which the Bible clearly states is a gift. How can you teach a gift?
they tell these same stories all the time....they have "schools" for prophesy and healing which the Bible clearly states is a gift. How can you teach a gift?
@KyasarinTsu "If you will seek the LORD your God, if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul, you will find him" Deuteronomy 4:29 ...It's true!..It's something you have to do for yourself. That's what I learned. People can try to prove it to you all they want, but that wouldn't work. You'd probably think their lying, or it's fake, etc.. But when God shows up and works personal miracles in your life and you feel his presence, there's no way you can deny it! <3
shrimpstain, i'm praying for you man. God is real, the reason there is no proof is due to our free will brother we get to the pearly gates by faith, by faith, not evidence. your in the prayer book man, unfortunately all atheists have one place in store for them, better wise up champ.
This is truly beautiful. It confirms my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that through him, all things are possible. For people who doubt or are skeptical, I pray that you find the peace and forgiveness only Christ can give. I say this as a former agnostic and doubter myself.
Oh ok. You dont think theres any need to argue against beleif systems that lead to abortion clinics being blown up and scientific research in medicine being held up by an old book?
How aout belief systems that lead to planes being flown into buildings and people strapping bombs to themselves?
I dont think it is pointless. I think it is necessary.
@horseburger I guess we can argue about your believe system too. Let's talk about the holocaust, which was commited by atheists, or abortion with which you've killed millions of babies....
The holocaust was caused by Hitler who was a christian you dumbass. Even if you argue that he wasnt a REAL christian, it was not atheism that made him do it. What a retarded thing for you to say.
And abortion doesnt kill babies. A feutus isnt a baby. If you're going to be dumb enough to say that it is, then when does it become a baby? A day after conception? Is going on th pill killing a baby? How about getting the snip?
Do you actually have an argument for defence of religion?
@horseburger Trust me I've studied Hitler and he's not a Christian. He believed in Evolution.
Abortion is killing a baby dumbass. What do you think a fetus turns into? Look at Mao and stalin, they did even worse shit than hitler.
i dont have to defend religion because it's a freedom that we have to believe in whatever the fuck we want without people like you trying to tell us how to believe. You believe that nothing exploded and created everything. I believe God created everything...
Yeah so by your logic, since sperm turns into a baby, sperm is a baby too you dumbass. Why do you think it is relevant wether hitler was a christian or not? Unless you are implying that not believing in a god was the reason for the holocaust? Now that would be a retarded thing to say,
Mao and Stalin killed people in the name of not believing in a god did they?
Are you retarded?
I never said a single thing about what I believed you twat. Who said I believe in nothing exploding?
So sperm has nothing to do with the formation of a baby? You can make a baby without sperm? At what point does it become a baby? Oh wait, we already know that. it is AFTER it has been a fetus which is NOT yet a baby.
Not believing in god reduces your respect or life? Lying moron. Life IS an organism but this it the ONLY life we get so it is MORE important than if you have an eternal afterlife. Nice logic.
You would BELIEVE evolution? I understand it so no belief is required you fucing retard.
@horseburger lol Your whole sperm rant made no sense to me. Please try to explain it a little more and I didn't say Sperm has nothing to do with a baby lol.
Yeah, YOUR life would therefore become more important to you but not other people's lives.
Lol if you understood evolution then you wouldn't believe in it.
Understanding something means that you dont need to believe it you moron. Its not blind faith if you know how it works and can see it happening.
As for you saying that me not believing in a god makes other peoples lives less important to me, well that is bullshit because I am not an arsehole so other people ARE important to me.
Evolution is a fact.
Its not my fault you are deliberately ignoring facts in order to protect your childlike belief in a fairytale that makes no sense.
@horseburger so you're saying evolution is fact? lol just because you say it's a fact doesn't make it one. I'm not going to say that every atheist is someone who doesn't respect other peoples lives but you guys will sit here and talk shit on christians and say that religion has caused all these wars and bad people, but people are just people whether they are religious or not. Seriously though if you believe or "understand" evolution then explain to me where everything came from.
Evolution doesnt say anything about where people came from.
I think you are misinformed as to what you claim to be untrue. Funny that, you're arguing about the theory of evolution yet you dont even know what it says.
@horseburger Good job on backtracking, served you well. So you say there is not a God yet you have no proof of anything else. I don't know what evolution you're being taught but in California we are taught it as a FACT and that people came from the Evolution of lesser species. "Life began in primortial soup" is what they say.
@horseburger Sorry, but evolution is a fairy tale for the modern age. Supposedly, random changes to DNA have resulted through natural selection over millions of years in increases of information leading to the amazing content of a human cell which contains more information than the Library of Congress. One slight problem: random changes applied to information content never result in an increase of information! Mutations, even the rare "helpful" ones, destroy information!
You dumbass. That is bullshit spouted only by dumb creationists, Of course mutations can increase information in a DNA strand. Why dont you actually do some research from a scientific source and not some ridiculously biased theist source.
Hold on one second, let me search for a simple explanation on youtube for you, (i bet it doesnt take me long)
v=I14KTshLUkg
There you go. That took me about 10 seconds......
You have got to be fucking kidding arent you. The theory of evolution, is like the theory of gravity. Its so real, its accepted.
As for more DNA, all it needs is for one strand to be duplicated, added to an offspring, and then have that strand change via evolution. You start with simple DNA end up with complex DNA.
You are only interested in finding reasons to continue believing in your fairy tale book but guess what. No happy ending. The bible is bullshit.
Jesus is alive and his Kingdom ministry is present now ! Mark 16:20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
This is the message the enemy wants to discredit and ridicule Matt 13:19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.
Please MORE stories like this in mainstream media! Reminds me of TV series "It's a Miracle", hosted by Richard Thomas. Inspiring, but also can make people feel bad, if a miracle doesn't happen the way they think it should. Sometimes the greatest miracles are in surviving the storms of life. For it's these trials and tribulations that toughen us and help us comfort those in similiar situations.
No we dont need childish superstition in england. You should be grateful you dont live in a society that outlaws non christians by shunning them out of school and the neighbourhood they live in.
Religion is the biggest divider of people on the planet and its teaching should be banned unless it can be proven to be true.
@horseburger well i'm glad we live in a diverse culture and i am proud of what our culture has achieved so far. but i believe jesus is truth. and i know there isn't a formula that shows god to be the creator but if we are going to live in a diverse culture then it should be ok for people to express their beliefs in god as much as against it. a majority of celebrities show off their atheism and it is applauded and i feel like they are dividing society as much as the next guy.
Atheism is not believing in any god. How can that divide people? It only makes theists feel like tey are different because they believe they have a truth that noone else has. Not beliving in a god doesnt do that, religions do that.
I dont care what you want to believe, but when people teach it as the truth, then I have a problem. People claiming miracles, that I have a problem with because it is not true until it can be proven.
Religious beliefs cause wars. look around the world
@horseburger so your allowed to have your beliefs expressed but everyone else should be quiet? all i know is that jesus loves everyone and as a christian i try to follow that example as best i can. i have done work which helps bring communities together. my work in life is to help the poor or those who have had a bad start in life which so far is bringing people together regardless off their beliefs.
I dont have a belief. Thats the point. Not believing in a god is not a beleif in the same way as not collecting stamps is not a hobby. I dont have anything to express.
You just said I can express my beliefs but everyone else must be quiet. Im not expressing any beliefs. In other words, it is theists expressing their beleifs and atheists arguing against them. It is not atheists expressing beliefs that theists disagree with.
Im arguing against christians who express their belief and I have every right to. If there were no christians expressing their beliefs, then I would have nothing to argue with.
I think that I found the doctor that wrote up about the hole(1:14). There is a Dr. Julian F. Keith who lives in the area, and he's been graduated for 32 years. HIs specialty is child medical care.
Who votes asking him about if the incident is true or not?
(thumbs-up for yes, down for no.)
Doing that would settle this once and for all. If I, a college student for Graphic Design, can find this much information, why can't the rest of you?
WWII is a myth and here's why: Myth- is defined as something that is accepted as truth. Do you or do you not accept WWII as a truth? There, no big argument. However for Tommy down there, he must have thought that I was questioning if WWII happened or not. He also must have realized that there is no amount of evidence that can truly prove the past. Videos can be faked to look real, documents can be forged, & people can lie. We accept WWII happened and that is what makes it a myth.
Funny isnt it. The millions of babies who die when huge congregations pray day and night for them. I wonder why Jesus chooses to kill them? Part of his plan eh? LOL
@tommiatkins Jesus did say, "let the children come to me, never hinder them."
My life verse is Mark 10: 15 ""Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” "
But that just maybe my way of looking on the bright side, which is "they are in a better place and never have to witness the tragedies of Religion." Kind of bitter-sweet when I think of it, yet I digress so I move on.
@Snowmon89 Mark basically says, Beleive like a child, Think like a child, dont question. If you think like an adult, you wont get into skyland. Specific to Children my favorite is Kings 2 2-24. Jesus in a more melencholy mood, rips 42 infants apart with FREAKING BEARS! Thats how nutso Jesus is. He will ask that the children sit on his knee, and he will slaughter every firstborn in a ghastly display of infanticide. Frankly, he's not the sorta deity you want round yours or anybodys kids.
@tommiatkins Kings 2 is about elishah healing a city, but then "22So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake. 23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head."
These were not infants, but they were still "children". I will not make excuses for them or God.
I will however make an excuse for Elishah. Shaving one's head was significant sign that someone is mourning. I can only assume that Elishah was mourning the "passing" of his friend Elijah, when these children came to mock him, he then got angry as most humans do. I will not say what he did was wrong, but I wont say that it was right either, because frankly I do not know all the details. When I think about it, their parents really should have given those children the rod sooner and saved them.
@tommiatkins "Mark basically says, Beleive like a child, Think like a child, dont question."
I don't believe that's the case. If you actually talk to children, you'd realize that they have a natural curiosity. They listen, mimic, and learn, but they also ask questions. It's modern schooling that teaches a child to be quiet and not ask questions, because it is considered rude or disrespectful. However, I tend to find that adults act more "like children" than I ever did as a child.
What Jesus (in Mark) was saying is that we must listen, mimic, and learn. I have lived over a decade by this verse alone and people have seen it in me that I live by it. I once went to a AnimeCon & I saw everything like a child. I was awe-inspired. My brother saw everything wrong that I didn't. Cross-dressing, unattended kids, and ect. I only saw people.
As C.S. Lewis said: I believe in God as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
@tommiatkins Also it's good to point out that it was in 2nd kings. If you don't say so, then people who look up in their bibles might get frustrated and not listen to you.
The turning point in our lives is when we stop seeking the God we want and start seeking the God who is. --- Patrick Morley
@Snowmon89 So in short:They werent infants, Just Children.Their parents should have struck them with rods, Modern schooling which tells children to test things out has more to hide than religion, you wont make excuses for the kids or god for ripping them to little bits with bears. And at the end of the day: If god is an Asshole, we should fawn to his barbarism rather than look for newer gentler gods?Brilliant. With THAT attutude the whole Jesus meek and mild concept would never have been invented
@tommiatkins Brilliant. With THAT attitutude(sp) the whole Jesus meek and mild concept would never have been invented. So then why has he been invented? Because he doesn't exist. If you read the bible, Jesus was more of a drill sergeant than he was a "lovey-dubby hippie".
To reference and earlier quote: Stop looking for a God that pleases you and look for the god that exists.
@Snowmon89 He was invented because the Jews were looking for a messiah as part of a millenial cult. A warrior king to overthrow the Romans. Jesus seemed to be the one,(amongst many other messiahs of the time). He got quite a local following, then it all fell apart when he was, umm, killed! Thus the cultists needed to make sense of this, and they brewed up many different possibilites and excuses. The most successful one was a mix of many ideas, leading to "Right Beleif" or Orthodoxy.
I especially don't enjoy the whole "conspiracy theory" approach to the bible. It mostly runs on speculation rather than any actual evidence. With the same approach, I can prove to you that Jesus was a mutant, Moses was an Egyptian God, and Adam&Eve came from the planet Venus after they polluted it to the point of acidic rain. It is quite silly and fun, but I don't like to do so.
@Snowmon89 Rather than Conspiracy theorys. Try looking at what is taught in seminarys. What biblical scholars , archeology and historians have discovered. You think that the Gosples being written decades after the event by biased fanatical cultists are a true record of history? When the storys suspend the natural order to fit in with a tiny tribes own tiny god's preferences.
"you think that the Gospels being written decades" Actually, for the longest time, the Old Testament was passed down by word of mouth. Each Gospel picked up where the one before leaves off and the gospel always references as if they were living in the gospel before it. Also according to historic evidence, the Bible is accurate because they're are so many copies of it. Most of the earliest New Testaments were written within the lifetimes of the generation that lived it.
@Snowmon89 You are certainly deluding yourself, your infomation is coming from freakish fundy websites and has nothing to do with either serious scholarship or indeed reality. You have much work ahead of you. However, you are correct that the originals were "chinese whispers", stories that started in fantasy and at each telling drifted farther and farther into a lurid dreamscape. This collection of fiftieth hand fables is gods perfect word! Quite the amazing god we have here eh!!!!
"your infomation is coming from freakish fundy websites" not really, I don't use any websites (except Google when I'm looking up the meanings of words or to quickly look up bible verses from time to time). I use books and sources, just like the people of the old days. Honestly, I'd rather use my brain alone, but sometimes it needs help. If you spent less time insulting and more time getting to know me, I'd gladly tell you openly and honestly. I've got nothing worth hiding.
"you are correct that the originals were "chinese whispers"" Again I don't appreciate putting words into my mouth. "You yourself said that there were no originals." I agree. They were passed down by word of mouth, but they were passed down word for word and ritualistically spoken day by day. (Not like a campfire story.) When they finally wrote these words down, the entire community would know what it would/should say better than well anyone. Someone would have noticed a mistake or a "lie".
In fact there are over 2x as many copies of the New Testament in Greek alone(5,000), when compared to another accurate book Odyssey and Iliad combined(650). (Remember, we're talking about "Accuracy" here, not whether or not it's fictional.) They had found that these copies from the earliest to today, are in fact accurate with each other, including when translated with copies in other languages.
As for if it's fictional, Prove to me that WWII happened. I'm willing to bet that WWII is a myth.
@Snowmon89 Each version we have of the thousands upon thousands of bibles are all different. Going by "The originals" dosnt help. There are no originals. theres some very old ones, dating back to 400BC & new testament scraps dating from 70-80 AD. There are as many changes in the texts it has been said by scholars , as there are versions of the bible. BTW, in WW2 a US pilot on a pacific island stated he would return with cargo for the islanders.Today they pray to him knowing his return is nigh
(Not commenting to you, if you're done, you're done.) "Each version we have of the thousands upon thousands of bibles are all different." Different "how" is the question here. "I need to use the laboratory", "I have to go potty", & "I need to powder my nose" are 3 different ways (in english) to say the exact same thing.
Not to mention, transition between languages also makes the verity greater. The same with the Bible. (the different congregations exist, when they focus on specific verses.)
@Snowmon89 But yes, I could take you round the damaged buildings, I could show you the tanks in the musems, let you watch years of footage, let you interveiw the veterans, talk to your granparents or anyone aged 80+. If you chose to reject the documents, the fortifications and the memories all as a giant hoax, then sure. I cant prove WW2 happened. But ,Its not a fantastic claim. Zombies hopping out of graves in a major city run by an advanced literate society leaves some marks.Jesus left nothing
@tommiatkins I'm now on my second complete reading of the Bible and am finding more consistency between the Old and New Testaments. During my first reading, I had found that the entire Old Testament, was quite basically a love story. BUT it wasn't a mussy-mussy love story. I also found that the New Testament was also following the laws of the Old Testament. As wild and outrageous as the very Idea could be, it's the truth. Just like how bees can't possibly fly, the Bible is true.
@Snowmon89 I read it every day. I will read a passage where a tribe is slaughtered to the last dog and feel sad at the ignorance and barbarity. You will read it and punch the sky in triumph at the same passages. The bible is riddled with its lowly stamp. Written by men who thought blood could absolve us of sin, who thought the sun went round the earth and that stoning kids was moral. I am proud that such palpably laughable tales dont infect my mind. And i'm sad they do yours.
You feel sorry you say. On 9-11, I feel sorry for the people who died on that day. I feel sorry for the people in the towers, I feel sorry for the lives that were destroyed, and I feel sorry for the Muslims that gave their lives to cause 9-11. You can always feel sorry for the people who died, no matter who they were. However according to history, these people were beyond cruel. You think what God and Israel did to them was bad, you should read what they did while they were alive.
@Snowmon89 OK, lets read what the Amalokites did whilst they were alive? Show me something. One scap of historical evidence of what they did! See! Silly isnt it. All you have is the long dead ramblings of clearly biased and obviously, And I do mean CLEARLY obviously, religiously fueled whako nutclowns who can hear their favorite little desert god, ranting from the sky, telling them to go and butcher innocents, kill their animals , rape the women. You KNOW all this, but still support it.
I do not celebrate when someone is killed, no matter who they were. We all came from the earth and we are all destined to go back to it. However, I don't let someone's death justify a hatred of god.
"If you treat someone as your enemy, then they shall treat you as if you are." That is something that I learned in school. I could spend hours telling you what kind of people were killed, yet it doesn't matter. So long as they were killed, you will always think it was wrong.
@Snowmon89 They were children, babies, innocents. Jesus wipes out the world in a flood. He kills two citys for homosexuality, and the only ones he saves is a special family. The wife he turns into salt, and the Father then rapes his daughters in a fit of drunkenness. This is the sort of quality that Jesus considers rightious! The Cannanite tribes were doing nothing. They were invaded and butchered by a horde of fundametalist religious zelots, fueled by the hallucinations of their leaders.Typical
You know, you're right. Let's blame God for every "bad thing" that's every happened in our lives. Forget that there's an afterlife, forget what is moral and Immoral, forget that he made us, and forget that he made all the good things in this world too. Oh, and especially forget that he could have killed Adam and Eve on the spot, but instead let them live. If he did that, not only would he be justified in it, but it would have saved us all the trouble that we have today. Or we can learn 2 Grow up
Stating a list of accusations, can not and should not convict anyone. Besides, I know these stories. They're being highly exaggerated. Especially the third and forth sentences. The wife was warned not to look back, just like you'd be warned to not touch a hot stove. (under exaggerated example I know, but same basic result). The daughter are also the ones who made their father drunk and have sex with him on two night in a row. The girls did what they thought was best, but I don't agree with them.
@Snowmon89 "The girls did what they thought was best, but I don't agree with them."
The road to hell is paved with "good intentions". The girls said that they wanted to continued their father's name, which he couldn't do without a male heir. (human laws did not allow it at the time.) I can see how you can speculate otherwise, but speculation can't make a case.
@Snowmon89 As I think I have said. Conversation over. This is naturally not because I have run out of bullets. I have a veritable infinate supply of them. The conversation is over because debate with someone who is unable to critically analyse is fruitless. You defend rape by saying the girls got him drunk. Just a simple glance at the situation by anyone not infected with Xtianity would provide a clear moral answer. You simply use laughably idiotic ideas like women raping drunk men.
"You defend rape by saying the girls got him drunk." I can't defend rape and I didn't. The girls got him drunk and enticed him to have sex with them. Rape is Clearly defined as "non-conceptual sex". If anything, they raped him since he was the one "taken advantage of." Anyone outside would come up with that conclusion, based on the information provided.
Also I told you before, I'm not commenting "to you". You said your done, and I accept that. I just don't like leaving loose ends.
@Snowmon89 Thus, I would certainly love to debate. I debate Xtians for perhaps 3 hours each day. But I can DEBATE with them. They offer a challenge. You do not. That is why the debate is over and I would like you to stop spamming my emails with junk such as "Babies are in a better place" and "People would have noticed a lie" All of that simply underscores your lack of critical thinking and your shoddy morals.I could excuse it as not your fault due to your upbringing, but we have a choice to THINK
And I agree with you to a point. After all, no body can be completely unbiased. My way of thinking is different from yours. I don't let anyone tell me what to believe, not even other theists. And I think that accusing me of being "morally corrupt" and then "running away" is a very poor way to debate or talk to people in general. It's called, Ad Hominem. You attack me instead of the issue itself. I do have a bad habit of arguing with others, but this is because I like to be thorough and exact.
I don't believe in being angry when I think, because nothing constructive or productive can come from it. I choose to think positively about people and will defend them no matter who they are. That's just how I am.
"I'm a glass is half full kind of person I really am, but I also acknowledge when my glass has dirt in it."
Frankly, I don't see a reason to tell you all this. You've already made up your mind about me. There's nothing that I can say that can change your mind about anything.
I had also taken the liberty of looking over the verses that you presented in Deuteronomy. For the most part, it's basically the same accusation over and over again. And I think that I see the main difference between you and me. One of us is looking at the verses like a lawyer, while the other is looking at them like a criminal. Not that I'm accusing either one of us of being one of these crawly things.
But thanks to you, I also learned something new about Jesus, so thanks. Deuteronomy 18:17-22
(Deuteronomy 18:17-22 Part A)God sends signs that to let the people know that he's speaking. Now, I do know the theory that someone could perform parlor tricks and the whole crowd would be wowed into believing what this man would say. But that's exactly why God made them so intolerant of false prophets.
(Deuteronomy 18:17-22 part b) Even Jesus was closely watched, examined, and tested on multiple occasions. So this law is actually a good thing in the long run. You can't "accidentally" prophesy about something. They found no fault in Jesus and yet they still killed him. So personally, why take the risk of being a false prophet?
(Deuteronomy 18:17-22 part c) They accused Jesus of falsely prophesying. "I will destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days". Since it didn't come true, they fulfilled the law and killed him as a false prophet (even if they didn't know it). But then It became true after his death. So I don't know whether to call that amazing or scary, but it's certainly Ironic.
@tommiatkins Now, it's importaint to remember that these were not "infants" because "infants" are not capable of understanding their actions nor can they be held responsible. Children, on the other hand, are old enough to be held responsible for their actions. Even children know better than to "throw stones" at people who are mourning and "bite the hand that feeds them". I'm not saying that them being mauled was right, but I am saying that they had it coming to them. "don't poke sleeping lions."
@Snowmon89 So kids that call out names deserve death?OK, yes,its consistant with YAWEH/Jesus's teachings."If a son is disobediant, then stone him to death in front of the whole community". I know that you really dig those laws. They make so much moral sense dont they? You can see why YAWEH is infinatly loving with those laws. Stoning rape victims to death, making them marry their rapist, butcher any unbeleivers, ban the disabled from church. Its all in there.Your Bible.Your perfect book. Enjoy!
I do enjoy the Bible. I read at least one chapter every day and I am constantly learning more and more about God. I know that he's patent, he's jealous, he's kind, but he also destroys evil. Tell me, Since when does saying that "God is evil" prove that he doesn't exist? I read the bible, so I know much more of the story than you're letting on. I know that God gives people multiple chances to turn away from evil. I know that God doesn't enjoy spilling blood, but it needed to be done.
Now let's see: "f a son is disobediant," after three interventions made by the parents (friends and family), priests, and then the courts. Mind you "Disobedience" is more than just not obeying your parent's wishes like brushing your teeth or marrying someone. Think more of a wild child who goes to get waisted on the weekends, lives in their parent's basement and doesn't work for a living.
@Snowmon89 And again, Your excusing the brutal torture and execution of children for no crime at all. This is the Best Jesus can do? (And pleeese dont start parrotting "Fullfilled the law". Why did he make up such horrific laws in the first place eh!
If my servants are doing wicked things, and I send my messenger to tell them to stop, then they beat my messenger in response, Do I not have the right to go and beat, or worse fire my servants? Or is the law so twisted in your eyes that you see nothing justified about punishing my servants?
God does not work for man. When you forget that man is less than God, that is when you are guaranteed to make a mistake.
@Snowmon89 I think this conversation has reached its conclusion. You are as morally bankrupt as the nasty ficticious powerless dreamman that you fawn over. Its a sad indicment of humaity that you can operate a computer and still type "I have the right to beat my servents" Just because you read it in your magic fairy story.
Sure, end the conversation when I see that you are finally fired up. Or did you use all the bullets you've got? You know exactly where this conversation was going don't you? Once we got into morality, you'd find that you have no real basis for it. Then we'd spend weeks, months and possibly even years wasting time telling each other off. Then either one of us would have to give up, or you'd conclude that there is no basis for morality outside of God.
"This conversation is well over. Good Day" Frankly, I was thinking the same thing while I was writing about how hard it was to go over every single thing you find wrong with God. But then I remembered something, if I run away, then that would be admitting defeat. Now I realize, that I just won a pointless battle. It was worth the effort to me, even if there is a small chance that this could save someone's life.
You talk up a good storm, but when it comes down to it, you can't rationalize your reasons. In the end, that's what it means to think. Even if I am wrong, I at least have my rational reason for why I'm wrong. (I can go back and check the math.) If you are wrong, the only rational reason for why you are wrong would be the same as the rational reason you were right. (you're convinced that random guessing can give you the right answer just as easily as doing actual work.)
(operate a computer and still type "I have the right to beat my servAnts") Can you or can you not justify it? You're saying that I don't have the right to punish my servants for (not only not doing their jobs), but for beating my messenger as well? Would a beating not fit the punishment of a beating? Or would you rather I keep such servants around and wait for them to kill someone before I hold their hand and say, "no, timmy, we don't kill our fellows workers, you've been bad". How Dora of you.
"You are as morally bankrupt" you say this only when You hear me say that "I possess the right" (which I do.) But you don't let me continue because you probably know what else the bible says. I do possess the right to take out a man's eye, for taking out my eye, BUT I also have the right to forgive them for doing so. I possess the right to forgive all debt owed to me. I don't go to extremes either way, I still take my revenge & I let people know when I was wronged and when I wrong them.
"You are as morally bankrupt " Plus to say to me this sentence, you must also first show me that you're not morally corrupt yourself. Under what basis am I Morally corrupted? Even police can do bad things, but under what basis is a police officer bad? As Nixon once said, "if the president does it then it is within the law." He was wrong, of course. But why? and under what Basis? Those are truly the toughest questions to answer.
As Nixon once said, "if the president does it then it is within the law."
One philosopher asked, "Is it right because the Gods do it, or do the Gods because it's right?"
You can not say to me, "you are wrong" without expecting me to ask, "what is right?" So the simple logic behind what I'm trying to get at is, "What would you do if you were the master? How can you justify what you do as right?"
For the longest time, also lived by, "do onto others", then I realized that we should treat them how WE want to BE treated. I realized that if everyone treated everyone else as a master to a slave, then there'd be no respect. But if we treat everyone as if they are the master, then the "good" people will get no respect and can never grow. But if we treat each other as a fellow slaves under someone else, then I can justify when my fellow man is not doing what he should and receive respect.
@tommiatkins "marry their rapist,": A woman is violated, the man must submit to her so that she can gain back her honor. He's forced to become a husband. Back then this was her form of revenge. The man now lives in shame. Of course you're thinking that he'll continued to abuse her right? Maybe, but I think not.
@Snowmon89 I would appreciate it if you read again what you just wrote here. Read it a few times. Search your own heart and ask yourself again if Moses was right when he said all people for all time would look on the laws of Yaweh and be amazed at them. The Rapist lives in shame with the woman he raped? THIS is eaxctly what i mean when I say religion anethityses good people into accepting the horrific and seeing it as something beautiful.ITS A RAPIST MARRYING THE VICTIM What cant you understand?
Last one, then I'm done. "ITS A RAPIST MARRYING THE VICTIM" Who said anything about this as being beautiful. I think you got the explanations mixed up. I said this was her form of revenge. Being her husband now, she gains back her honor as a woman, which was stolen from her. Virginity was something only given to her husband. Honor was precious to man (unlike today). Plus, now as her husband, he must take care of her. He is bound to her for life. I can see many things I can do, if I was her.
(Rape Cont.) Now You know the laws for Adultery better than I do. If he becomes unfaithful to his wife, he dies. You said so yourself, so don't deny. If he becomes a bad husband, then she has the right to take him to court and plead with them about him. Either way, She'll get what she wants.

MrEnlightenup 4 months ago
@MrEnlightenup I know it's been two months since you asked this so It probably doesn't matter anymore. But the answer is simple. 1st we don't own or control God. If we did then we'd have god backwards and he's certainly no dog. 2nd we do not know what is best for us. For all we know the amputation is a blessing as it was with my cousin. (as displayed by TheMemphisSaint) he is quite happy And it happened in Jan this very year. Many miracles following that story. 3rd it's only temporary.
Snowmon89 2 months ago
MrEnlightenup 2 months ago
@MrEnlightenup Um… dude? Just because you don't accept the answer doesn't make it any less true. You wont accept the facts as facts, then there's nothing that I can provide you. Miracles, by definition, are "Impossible, but happen anyway". My 1st statement may have had a joke in it, but it means that we don't own God. Please look up: John 14:9-14. For my 2nd statement: I have a whole list of miracles that follows my cousin's experience in loosing his legs and pinky finger. My 3rd is what it is

@Snowmon89
What. You prayed and they grew back?
Oh please.
nippi9 1 week ago
@MrEnlightenup Now the real problem is that I don't think that you're looking for answers. You're just looking for either an excuse, something to blame, or a purpose in life AKA acceptance in a group.
I don't understand the atheist mindset, NOT because I've always had a (christian or otherwise) family that I could turn to, but because I've grown up with the knowledge of a God that told me that Santa Claus doesn't exist. My doubts in him has never come from reality, but fantasies. explain cont.
Snowmon89 2 months ago

Snowmon89 2 months ago
@MrEnlightenup …especially when my cousin this year had stepped on a land mine and his first thoughts were "Okay, who got shot? Oh, I stepped on a land mine. God, why?" He heard his mother's voice answer him, "Don't ask God 'why', ask 'what to do now?'" If my cousin didn't ask himself that question, he'd be dead now. He never gave up on God even when this happened. While I threw him out when I thought zombies were rising from the dead. His faith was stronger than mine then, but so is mine now.
Snowmon89 2 months ago
@MrEnlightenup To me YOU're the one who's speaking a different language. When you say that "It didn't happen because it's impossible", then it translates as (in some ways) "Your cousin is dead and buried because none of these miracles occurred." Among other things. I can honestly say that, "There far too many 'coincidences' in my life for it to be anything except God saying, 'hello, I love you'." They say 1ce is an accident, 2ce is coincidence, but 3ce is "murder". SO what are countless times?

STAY AWAY FROM BETHEL CHURCH. THEY ARE A CULT! religious authorities declared the lead pastor at BETHEL one of the top 50 FALSE PROPHETS out there. STAY AWAY from them. They turned my sister into a mindless zombie basically.
dardrex777 7 months ago
@dardrex777 Yes they probably said the same thing about Jesus when he healed the blind, the lame and the possessed ,in fact it' recorded in the stories that many thought Jesus did these things by the devil.
majorl311 7 months ago
@majorl311 Jesus was legit. Bethel is full of brain washing. Every service some one is fainting or doing something else obviously staged.
Bethel is not a legit church. Every church of every denomination in the town won't associate with them cuzz they are fundamentalists. The type of sects that make the entire religion look bad. The leader is a known false prophet from previous churches
A church representing the word of God wouldn't advocate turning women like my sister into submissive slaves
dardrex777 7 months ago
@dardrex777 Yes Jesus was legit, well this CBN broadcast supports the church, and we are supposed to do the things Jesus did,he said that !Do you live in this town also?
majorl311 7 months ago
@majorl311 I was raised in Redding, CA for 18 years of my life. Before I left that horrible town.
Also my sister went to Bethel and that church encourages females to be submissive slaves to their husbands, their teachings are practically mormon.
This broadcast was a year or so before they were declared Extremists so probably the CBN mistaken them for legit at the time.
Also this healing is a scam. A family took their dying grandma to Bethel. They said she was healed... 3 days later she died.
dardrex777 7 months ago
I totally agree. I am an animal person and have a special connection with them, especially horses. I have had 2 pets, that have had documented terminal illness that I prayed over them and they have been completely healed.

Oh ok. You dont think theres any need to argue against beleif systems that lead to abortion clinics being blown up and scientific research in medicine being held up by an old book?
How aout belief systems that lead to planes being flown into buildings and people strapping bombs to themselves?
I dont think it is pointless. I think it is necessary.
horseburger 11 months ago
@horseburger you are arguing with the wrong people
petertimothycooper 10 months ago
@horseburger I guess we can argue about your believe system too. Let's talk about the holocaust, which was commited by atheists, or abortion with which you've killed millions of babies....
tyseibert 9 months ago
@tyseibert
Do you actually have an argument for defence of religion?
horseburger 9 months ago
@horseburger Trust me I've studied Hitler and he's not a Christian. He believed in Evolution.
Abortion is killing a baby dumbass. What do you think a fetus turns into? Look at Mao and stalin, they did even worse shit than hitler.
i dont have to defend religion because it's a freedom that we have to believe in whatever the fuck we want without people like you trying to tell us how to believe. You believe that nothing exploded and created everything. I believe God created everything...
tyseibert 9 months ago
@tyseibert
Who said I believe in nothing exploding?
horseburger 9 months ago
@horseburger Actually no, Sperm doesn't turn into a fucking baby by itself. try taking a sex ed class.
I'm saying not believing in a God greatly reduces your respect for human life. They are then seen as replacable and just an organism.
You don't believe in God so what the fuck do you believe in? If I was atheist I would believe in Evolution otherwise you're just a fucking retard.

I understand it so no belief is required you fucing retard.
horseburger 9 months ago
@horseburger lol Your whole sperm rant made no sense to me. Please try to explain it a little more and I didn't say Sperm has nothing to do with a baby lol.
Yeah, YOUR life would therefore become more important to you but not other people's lives.
Lol if you understood evolution then you wouldn't believe in it.
tyseibert 9 months ago
@tyseibert
"YOUR life would therefore become more important to you but not other peoples lives"
Only if you're an arsehole.
"If you understood evolution you wouldnt believe in it"
Thats not what I said you halfwit. If you understand how something works, then you dont need belief because you KNOW it is true.
Im not suprised I make no sense to you. The indoctrinated are often incapable of perceiving reality as it actually is.
horseburger 9 months ago
@tyseibert
Its not my fault you are deliberately ignoring facts in order to protect your childlike belief in a fairytale that makes no sense.
horseburger 6 months ago 2
@horseburger so you're saying evolution is fact? lol just because you say it's a fact doesn't make it one. I'm not going to say that every atheist is someone who doesn't respect other peoples lives but you guys will sit here and talk shit on christians and say that religion has caused all these wars and bad people, but people are just people whether they are religious or not. Seriously though if you believe or "understand" evolution then explain to me where everything came from.
tyseibert 6 months ago
@tyseibert
Evolution doesnt say anything about where people came from.
I think you are misinformed as to what you claim to be untrue. Funny that, you're arguing about the theory of evolution yet you dont even know what it says.
I find that a little perplexing.
horseburger 6 months ago 5
@horseburger Good job on backtracking, served you well. So you say there is not a God yet you have no proof of anything else. I don't know what evolution you're being taught but in California we are taught it as a FACT and that people came from the Evolution of lesser species. "Life began in primortial soup" is what they say.
tyseibert 6 months ago
@tyseibert
Evolution IS fact. The hypothesis that life began in a primordial soup is a hypothesis that has nothing at all to do with the theory of evolution.
Which one are you arguing against? The THEORY of evolution, or the HYPOTHESIS of the primordial soup?
They are both different and if you think they are both the same then you just proved my point that you dont know what you are arguing about.

Mutations, even the rare "helpful" ones, destroy information!
dhkrause1 2 months ago
@dhkrause1
You dumbass. That is bullshit spouted only by dumb creationists, Of course mutations can increase information in a DNA strand. Why dont you actually do some research from a scientific source and not some ridiculously biased theist source.
Hold on one second, let me search for a simple explanation on youtube for you, (i bet it doesnt take me long)
v=I14KTshLUkg
There you go. That took me about 10 seconds......

@dhkrause1 you need to see some serious help I mean it, im not kidding.
Here some info you need to no about your mental disorder. I'll have to send it to you in a message ok, hope you get well.
FutureScience2012 1 month ago
@dhkrause1

For it's these trials and tribulations that toughen us and help us comfort those in similiar situations.

was that the news guys praising god? if it was then we need that in England!
shrimpstain 1 year ago
@shrimpstain
No we dont need childish superstition in england. You should be grateful you dont live in a society that outlaws non christians by shunning them out of school and the neighbourhood they live in.
Religion is the biggest divider of people on the planet and its teaching should be banned unless it can be proven to be true.
horseburger 11 months ago
@horseburger well i'm glad we live in a diverse culture and i am proud of what our culture has achieved so far. but i believe jesus is truth. and i know there isn't a formula that shows god to be the creator but if we are going to live in a diverse culture then it should be ok for people to express their beliefs in god as much as against it. a majority of celebrities show off their atheism and it is applauded and i feel like they are dividing society as much as the next guy.
shrimpstain 11 months ago
@shrimpstain
Religious beliefs cause wars. look around the world
horseburger 11 months ago
@horseburger so your allowed to have your beliefs expressed but everyone else should be quiet? all i know is that jesus loves everyone and as a christian i try to follow that example as best i can. i have done work which helps bring communities together. my work in life is to help the poor or those who have had a bad start in life which so far is bringing people together regardless off their beliefs.
shrimpstain 11 months ago
@shrimpstain
I dont have a belief. Thats the point. Not believing in a god is not a beleif in the same way as not collecting stamps is not a hobby. I dont have anything to express.
horseburger 11 months ago
@horseburger not really sure what your getting at? yu were the one getting annoyed at my comment? very confusing?
shrimpstain 11 months ago
@shrimpstain

LOL
tommiatkins 1 year ago
@tommiatkins Jesus did say, "let the children come to me, never hinder them."
My life verse is Mark 10: 15 ""Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” "
But that just maybe my way of looking on the bright side, which is "they are in a better place and never have to witness the tragedies of Religion." Kind of bitter-sweet when I think of it, yet I digress so I move on.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 Mark basically says, Beleive like a child, Think like a child, dont question. If you think like an adult, you wont get into skyland. Specific to Children my favorite is Kings 2 2-24. Jesus in a more melencholy mood, rips 42 infants apart with FREAKING BEARS! Thats how nutso Jesus is. He will ask that the children sit on his knee, and he will slaughter every firstborn in a ghastly display of infanticide. Frankly, he's not the sorta deity you want round yours or anybodys kids.
tommiatkins 1 year ago
@tommiatkins Kings 2 is about elishah healing a city, but then "22So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake. 23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head."
These were not infants, but they were still "children". I will not make excuses for them or God.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
I will however make an excuse for Elishah. Shaving one's head was significant sign that someone is mourning. I can only assume that Elishah was mourning the "passing" of his friend Elijah, when these children came to mock him, he then got angry as most humans do. I will not say what he did was wrong, but I wont say that it was right either, because frankly I do not know all the details. When I think about it, their parents really should have given those children the rod sooner and saved them.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@tommiatkins "Mark basically says, Beleive like a child, Think like a child, dont question."
I don't believe that's the case. If you actually talk to children, you'd realize that they have a natural curiosity. They listen, mimic, and learn, but they also ask questions. It's modern schooling that teaches a child to be quiet and not ask questions, because it is considered rude or disrespectful. However, I tend to find that adults act more "like children" than I ever did as a child.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
What Jesus (in Mark) was saying is that we must listen, mimic, and learn. I have lived over a decade by this verse alone and people have seen it in me that I live by it. I once went to a AnimeCon & I saw everything like a child. I was awe-inspired. My brother saw everything wrong that I didn't. Cross-dressing, unattended kids, and ect. I only saw people.
As C.S. Lewis said: I believe in God as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@tommiatkins Also it's good to point out that it was in 2nd kings. If you don't say so, then people who look up in their bibles might get frustrated and not listen to you.
The turning point in our lives is when we stop seeking the God we want and start seeking the God who is. --- Patrick Morley
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 So in short:They werent infants, Just Children.Their parents should have struck them with rods, Modern schooling which tells children to test things out has more to hide than religion, you wont make excuses for the kids or god for ripping them to little bits with bears. And at the end of the day: If god is an Asshole, we should fawn to his barbarism rather than look for newer gentler gods?Brilliant. With THAT attutude the whole Jesus meek and mild concept would never have been invented
tommiatkins 1 year ago
@tommiatkins Brilliant. With THAT attitutude(sp) the whole Jesus meek and mild concept would never have been invented. So then why has he been invented? Because he doesn't exist. If you read the bible, Jesus was more of a drill sergeant than he was a "lovey-dubby hippie".
To reference and earlier quote: Stop looking for a God that pleases you and look for the god that exists.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 He was invented because the Jews were looking for a messiah as part of a millenial cult. A warrior king to overthrow the Romans. Jesus seemed to be the one,(amongst many other messiahs of the time). He got quite a local following, then it all fell apart when he was, umm, killed! Thus the cultists needed to make sense of this, and they brewed up many different possibilites and excuses. The most successful one was a mix of many ideas, leading to "Right Beleif" or Orthodoxy.
tommiatkins 1 year ago
I especially don't enjoy the whole "conspiracy theory" approach to the bible. It mostly runs on speculation rather than any actual evidence. With the same approach, I can prove to you that Jesus was a mutant, Moses was an Egyptian God, and Adam&Eve came from the planet Venus after they polluted it to the point of acidic rain. It is quite silly and fun, but I don't like to do so.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 Rather than Conspiracy theorys. Try looking at what is taught in seminarys. What biblical scholars , archeology and historians have discovered. You think that the Gosples being written decades after the event by biased fanatical cultists are a true record of history? When the storys suspend the natural order to fit in with a tiny tribes own tiny god's preferences.
tommiatkins 1 year ago
"you think that the Gospels being written decades" Actually, for the longest time, the Old Testament was passed down by word of mouth. Each Gospel picked up where the one before leaves off and the gospel always references as if they were living in the gospel before it. Also according to historic evidence, the Bible is accurate because they're are so many copies of it. Most of the earliest New Testaments were written within the lifetimes of the generation that lived it.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 You are certainly deluding yourself, your infomation is coming from freakish fundy websites and has nothing to do with either serious scholarship or indeed reality. You have much work ahead of you. However, you are correct that the originals were "chinese whispers", stories that started in fantasy and at each telling drifted farther and farther into a lurid dreamscape. This collection of fiftieth hand fables is gods perfect word! Quite the amazing god we have here eh!!!!
tommiatkins 1 year ago
"your infomation is coming from freakish fundy websites" not really, I don't use any websites (except Google when I'm looking up the meanings of words or to quickly look up bible verses from time to time). I use books and sources, just like the people of the old days. Honestly, I'd rather use my brain alone, but sometimes it needs help. If you spent less time insulting and more time getting to know me, I'd gladly tell you openly and honestly. I've got nothing worth hiding.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
"you are correct that the originals were "chinese whispers"" Again I don't appreciate putting words into my mouth. "You yourself said that there were no originals." I agree. They were passed down by word of mouth, but they were passed down word for word and ritualistically spoken day by day. (Not like a campfire story.) When they finally wrote these words down, the entire community would know what it would/should say better than well anyone. Someone would have noticed a mistake or a "lie".
Snowmon89 1 year ago
In fact there are over 2x as many copies of the New Testament in Greek alone(5,000), when compared to another accurate book Odyssey and Iliad combined(650). (Remember, we're talking about "Accuracy" here, not whether or not it's fictional.) They had found that these copies from the earliest to today, are in fact accurate with each other, including when translated with copies in other languages.
As for if it's fictional, Prove to me that WWII happened. I'm willing to bet that WWII is a myth.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 Each version we have of the thousands upon thousands of bibles are all different. Going by "The originals" dosnt help. There are no originals. theres some very old ones, dating back to 400BC & new testament scraps dating from 70-80 AD. There are as many changes in the texts it has been said by scholars , as there are versions of the bible. BTW, in WW2 a US pilot on a pacific island stated he would return with cargo for the islanders.Today they pray to him knowing his return is nigh
tommiatkins 1 year ago

Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 I read it every day. I will read a passage where a tribe is slaughtered to the last dog and feel sad at the ignorance and barbarity. You will read it and punch the sky in triumph at the same passages. The bible is riddled with its lowly stamp. Written by men who thought blood could absolve us of sin, who thought the sun went round the earth and that stoning kids was moral. I am proud that such palpably laughable tales dont infect my mind. And i'm sad they do yours.
tommiatkins 1 year ago
You feel sorry you say. On 9-11, I feel sorry for the people who died on that day. I feel sorry for the people in the towers, I feel sorry for the lives that were destroyed, and I feel sorry for the Muslims that gave their lives to cause 9-11. You can always feel sorry for the people who died, no matter who they were. However according to history, these people were beyond cruel. You think what God and Israel did to them was bad, you should read what they did while they were alive.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 OK, lets read what the Amalokites did whilst they were alive? Show me something. One scap of historical evidence of what they did! See! Silly isnt it. All you have is the long dead ramblings of clearly biased and obviously, And I do mean CLEARLY obviously, religiously fueled whako nutclowns who can hear their favorite little desert god, ranting from the sky, telling them to go and butcher innocents, kill their animals , rape the women. You KNOW all this, but still support it.
tommiatkins 1 year ago
I do not celebrate when someone is killed, no matter who they were. We all came from the earth and we are all destined to go back to it. However, I don't let someone's death justify a hatred of god.
"If you treat someone as your enemy, then they shall treat you as if you are." That is something that I learned in school. I could spend hours telling you what kind of people were killed, yet it doesn't matter. So long as they were killed, you will always think it was wrong.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 They were children, babies, innocents. Jesus wipes out the world in a flood. He kills two citys for homosexuality, and the only ones he saves is a special family. The wife he turns into salt, and the Father then rapes his daughters in a fit of drunkenness. This is the sort of quality that Jesus considers rightious! The Cannanite tribes were doing nothing. They were invaded and butchered by a horde of fundametalist religious zelots, fueled by the hallucinations of their leaders.Typical
tommiatkins 1 year ago
You know, you're right. Let's blame God for every "bad thing" that's every happened in our lives. Forget that there's an afterlife, forget what is moral and Immoral, forget that he made us, and forget that he made all the good things in this world too. Oh, and especially forget that he could have killed Adam and Eve on the spot, but instead let them live. If he did that, not only would he be justified in it, but it would have saved us all the trouble that we have today. Or we can learn 2 Grow up
Snowmon89 1 year ago
Stating a list of accusations, can not and should not convict anyone. Besides, I know these stories. They're being highly exaggerated. Especially the third and forth sentences. The wife was warned not to look back, just like you'd be warned to not touch a hot stove. (under exaggerated example I know, but same basic result). The daughter are also the ones who made their father drunk and have sex with him on two night in a row. The girls did what they thought was best, but I don't agree with them.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 "The girls did what they thought was best, but I don't agree with them."
The road to hell is paved with "good intentions". The girls said that they wanted to continued their father's name, which he couldn't do without a male heir. (human laws did not allow it at the time.) I can see how you can speculate otherwise, but speculation can't make a case.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 As I think I have said. Conversation over. This is naturally not because I have run out of bullets. I have a veritable infinate supply of them. The conversation is over because debate with someone who is unable to critically analyse is fruitless. You defend rape by saying the girls got him drunk. Just a simple glance at the situation by anyone not infected with Xtianity would provide a clear moral answer. You simply use laughably idiotic ideas like women raping drunk men.
tommiatkins 1 year ago
"You defend rape by saying the girls got him drunk." I can't defend rape and I didn't. The girls got him drunk and enticed him to have sex with them. Rape is Clearly defined as "non-conceptual sex". If anything, they raped him since he was the one "taken advantage of." Anyone outside would come up with that conclusion, based on the information provided.
Also I told you before, I'm not commenting "to you". You said your done, and I accept that. I just don't like leaving loose ends.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 Thus, I would certainly love to debate. I debate Xtians for perhaps 3 hours each day. But I can DEBATE with them. They offer a challenge. You do not. That is why the debate is over and I would like you to stop spamming my emails with junk such as "Babies are in a better place" and "People would have noticed a lie" All of that simply underscores your lack of critical thinking and your shoddy morals.I could excuse it as not your fault due to your upbringing, but we have a choice to THINK
tommiatkins 1 year ago
And I agree with you to a point. After all, no body can be completely unbiased. My way of thinking is different from yours. I don't let anyone tell me what to believe, not even other theists. And I think that accusing me of being "morally corrupt" and then "running away" is a very poor way to debate or talk to people in general. It's called, Ad Hominem. You attack me instead of the issue itself. I do have a bad habit of arguing with others, but this is because I like to be thorough and exact.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
I don't believe in being angry when I think, because nothing constructive or productive can come from it. I choose to think positively about people and will defend them no matter who they are. That's just how I am.
"I'm a glass is half full kind of person I really am, but I also acknowledge when my glass has dirt in it."
Frankly, I don't see a reason to tell you all this. You've already made up your mind about me. There's nothing that I can say that can change your mind about anything.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
I had also taken the liberty of looking over the verses that you presented in Deuteronomy. For the most part, it's basically the same accusation over and over again. And I think that I see the main difference between you and me. One of us is looking at the verses like a lawyer, while the other is looking at them like a criminal. Not that I'm accusing either one of us of being one of these crawly things.
But thanks to you, I also learned something new about Jesus, so thanks. Deuteronomy 18:17-22
Snowmon89 1 year ago
(Deuteronomy 18:17-22 Part A)God sends signs that to let the people know that he's speaking. Now, I do know the theory that someone could perform parlor tricks and the whole crowd would be wowed into believing what this man would say. But that's exactly why God made them so intolerant of false prophets.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
(Deuteronomy 18:17-22 part b) Even Jesus was closely watched, examined, and tested on multiple occasions. So this law is actually a good thing in the long run. You can't "accidentally" prophesy about something. They found no fault in Jesus and yet they still killed him. So personally, why take the risk of being a false prophet?
Snowmon89 1 year ago
(Deuteronomy 18:17-22 part c) They accused Jesus of falsely prophesying. "I will destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days". Since it didn't come true, they fulfilled the law and killed him as a false prophet (even if they didn't know it). But then It became true after his death. So I don't know whether to call that amazing or scary, but it's certainly Ironic.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@tommiatkins Now, it's importaint to remember that these were not "infants" because "infants" are not capable of understanding their actions nor can they be held responsible. Children, on the other hand, are old enough to be held responsible for their actions. Even children know better than to "throw stones" at people who are mourning and "bite the hand that feeds them". I'm not saying that them being mauled was right, but I am saying that they had it coming to them. "don't poke sleeping lions."
Snowmon89 1 year ago
@Snowmon89 So kids that call out names deserve death?OK, yes,its consistant with YAWEH/Jesus's teachings."If a son is disobediant, then stone him to death in front of the whole community". I know that you really dig those laws. They make so much moral sense dont they? You can see why YAWEH is infinatly loving with those laws. Stoning rape victims to death, making them marry their rapist, butcher any unbeleivers, ban the disabled from church. Its all in there.Your Bible.Your perfect book. Enjoy!
tommiatkins 1 year ago
I do enjoy the Bible. I read at least one chapter every day and I am constantly learning more and more about God. I know that he's patent, he's jealous, he's kind, but he also destroys evil. Tell me, Since when does saying that "God is evil" prove that he doesn't exist? I read the bible, so I know much more of the story than you're letting on. I know that God gives people multiple chances to turn away from evil. I know that God doesn't enjoy spilling blood, but it needed to be done.
Snowmon89 1 year ago
Now let's see: "f a son is disobediant," after three interventions made by the parents (friends and family), priests, and then the courts. Mind you "Disobedience" is more than just not obeying your parent's wishes like brushing your teeth or marrying someone. Think more of a wild child who goes to get waisted on the weekends, lives in their parent's basement and doesn't work for a living.
Snowmon89 1 year ago

This conversation is well over. Good Day
Sure, end the conversation when I see that you are finally fired up.
