I like Jane, and maybe she was trying to sing this song with her own style, but with certain songs you just have to sing it a certain way, this song is one of them. Using a R&B spin just does not work on this song. Honestly, I think even the other people on stage was disappointed.

mellow =/= lack of emotion; high notes =/=emotions ... not to say that this version has any emotions in it, because it wasn't suppose to. If you want to hear emotions. Listen to Han Hong or Li Na's version. They're the true masters of the songs, and Han Hong especially has a love for her home that imo, no one else has yet been able to sing.
