SAD THAT A TALENTED WOMAN WITH A DYNAMIC VOICE HAD TO LEAVE SO YOUNG I THINK WHAT OTHER SONGS COULD HAVE SHE MADE IN TIME BUT THEN I THINK SHE IS SINGING MANY OLD & NEW ONES IN HEAVEN GOD BLESS YOU KAREN YOU'RE MUSIC LIVES ON FOREVER!! THANK'S FOR THE POSTING!!
I feel you karen..... in all my days; all I can do is frown and pretend everything is ok, although; I am in a real mess with the situation that I am in right now......
upset that I wasnt born at their age , I was bron in the late 80s , but I find their music ,lyrics and songs very beautiful , thats so peacefull and charming , I wish there was sthg like that now , I love you Karen Carpenter
I grew up in the 70's when the Carpenters came on I would ask to change the station. Now I wonder why I did this is some great music. The music is simple and clean and nothing like todays music.
Being a teenager it was not cool to like The Carpenters. It was a guilty pleasure to listen to them.Later on found all my mates liked them as well .Sheer Quality from them .
brings back memories from when this song first came out....when I would feel melancholy...I always listened to the Carpenters....still do actually, thats why I am on Youtube listening.............no one could ever duplicate their sound.......RIP Karen.
Notice how not very many bands/groups/etc. cover Carpenters' material. They realize there are much better ways to humiliate themselves than trying to match Karen. AND: notice how no matter who recorded a song before, once Karen sang it, it was hers forever. I used to argue with a friend who actually thought Kermit the Frog was a better singer than Karen. I'm still perplexed by that one. RIP Karen.
She was an angel. From time to time, I have listened to Carpenters since I was 5 or 6 years old. Forty-two years after, I still feel her voice was divine. All the best from Spain.
I used to love rainy days in Toronto. I'd stuff my pockets with small bills and cigarettes and buy anyone left out in the weather with no where to go a coffee. Kept me from sitting around feeling sorry for myself.
Karen was one of the very people I've ever heard sing who had an absolutely perfect voice. Always in correct pitch and key. Freddie Mercury was another one- Too bad neither are still with us.
So sad that she died while in RECOVERY from anorexia nervosa...the same disorder I am suffering from now. I just had a baby 5 months ago, so the weight is SO slow coming off because I have Type II Diabetes...probably caused by my messed-up eating and diet-pill addiction when I was in the worst of my eating disorder. I sure know what Karen was going through. RIP and I know you are singing with the angels now...and your voice is sure heavenly. :)
@VictimOfBoredom You drivie a sad point. If the trend continues, music will continue to suck more and more as the ages prorgress!!! I mean, how can it get worst then the repetitive, talentless lyrics we know now? And for the record, I was born in 1991, so its not like I'm 40+ or anything. ;p
And yes, I know we do have some good stuff. But what's popular tends to be just bad compared to the musical revolutions that people like Aubba, Carpenters, Journey made thier name with. My opinion.
@dpf10 That's really cool. Please rewrite this comment and repost cos someone marked it as Spam, and it is NOT. You SHOULD be proud of yourself. (In case she doesn't read this, what she said was: "I sang this song for my 7th Grade Talent Show last year, and won 1st Place!! yay me!" ) We should be supporting our talented young people, NOT trying to hide them. She obviously has great taste in music, and if she could sing this and win her show...well, that DOES show talent.
@2hotinaz Umm thanks lol i forgot about even making that comment on here :P i don't understand why it was marked as spam, i wasnt trying to brag or anything i was just proud of myself, cause honestly i didnt expect to win, but whatever :P
yungrippHRK you wouldnt want to be me i assure you, but seriously,i like todays music like coldplay, the shins ,keane, avril lavigne,i just dont care for rap ,hip hop, or most of american idol singers at least the winners, i liked didi benami,i thought she could sing and was hot looking.
@jwillis5039 i wish i was u lol but thankfully i was blessed with being a 80s babys so i got to fully expiernce the 90s and now days kids dnt even know good music
The Carpenters were fantastic, especially because of Karen and her beautiful voice and performance. There aren´t many songs that are just perfect, but this is one of them. So beautiful, meaningful and deep.

@afton1955 I don't know if you'll see this after all this time, but I went to that school also. (Just quite a few years BEFORE you did!) I have lots of great memories of it as well. (I lived on Texas Strasse, not far from the school) We were lucky to be AF 'brats', we got to do and see so much more than most of our peers. (One of our school 'field trips' was to the World's Fair in Brussels.)
this reminds me of my eating disorder (I'm recovering). I feel like I can relate to Karen a lot. I'm so sorry that anorexia took her away. <3 God bless.
