Frollo is the 'quality' of villains we won't ever see again in our days. He deserves his place into disney's best villains (maybe number 1 with Scar). Our days villain are almost all 'evil' because they had a bad childhood or wants revenge against something or want to conquer the world... Frollo was 'evil' because he saw evil and sins everywhere around him and wanted to 'cure' the world.

Almost all great villains belong to the past... Agree?

I'd have to say that this almost brought tears to my eyes. I feel for Claude. I mean he is in fact a MAN. As corrupt and angry as he may be. He felt something for Esmeralda that he never felt before.

Maybe he himself didn't know anything about love. I'm not saying what he did to Esmeralda was right.

He probably was shamed being a "holy man" yet still wanting her the way he did.

But he couldn't have her which drove him to madness.

Thank you very much. I'm glad someone understands Claude as well as I do; as corrupt as he is, he is ten times as passionate, especially talking about book Frollo. He does bad things, but he knows that they are wrong; he aknowledges when he sings hellfire, "God have mercy on me.." that he knows what he is doing is going to hurt her, but he cannot hold back.

I think Frollo could qualify as "evil" so to speak since while he isn't evil, what he does sure as Hell is. These things include: killing an innocent on the steps of Notre Dame, attempting to drop baby Quasi in a well, emotionally abusing Quasi for 25 years, lechery, bigotry, genocide, becoming a Hellion at the film's climax (that face ain't normal when he raises his sword at the climax), throwing an Archdeacon down a stairwell and attacking Notre Dame (which is like declaring war on God).

Best Disney villain yes. He ranks # 8 on my own list of greatest movie villains.

That being said if you think about Frollo's like Hitler: genocide, cruel tyrant and to be quite frank thought what he was doing was good but that won't really justify it when he's burning in the bloody bowels of Hell.

OMG it IS a masterpiece!!! Unlike many MANY boring youtube vids and IN SPITE of the fact that you're using a looooooong song... you don't repeat a single scene ONCE! Awesome! Plus you've done excellent editing, the synchronization of the music and the images is perfect, plus I just looooooove how the musical crescendos coincide with Claude's angry outbursts!! Bravo!!!
