Dean was a good actor but he was no Brando. To tell you nthe truth looking back on it i think he was bi-polar but in the 50s there was no name for it but a little weird. Put any person in front of a camera with bi-polar and they will give you a show.

The blue dress gal you saw was Dizzy Sheridan. A dancer and young love of jimmy's. She is still alive and acting. Most noteably, Jerry Seinfeild's mom, 90-98.

oh, not that it matters but i think Dean wasn't gay. He was very passionate about emotions as many actors are and went off what he felt rather than categorizing his feelings as 'homosexual' or 'heterosexual'. He was lonely cause his mum died and his father disowned him he just wanted to be loved or cared for. he wasn't gay. he just wanted to enjoy life. - unfortunatly it was cut very short :(

Behaviorally, Dean was bisexual. There are several women and men with whom he had sexual relationships. It would be an insult to Dean to try to decipher his own sexuality for him. His behavior speaks for itself. I've been a Dean fan for thirty years and I am SO tired of the gay versus straight nonsense. Who cares? Jimmy was Jimmy. His star shines on its own.

I didn't know him at all. He died four years before I was born. But I've met a lot of his friends and family. If you need to believe he was one thing or the other for you to admire him, well, believe what you need to believe. I find that petty, narrow and sad. It says more about your inability to care about others than it says anything about Dean.

No one knows the real James Dean, so don't assume you do .. most Biographies out there are false anyways...they all contradict one another.
But I have to say James was very intelligent. He was more than just a pretty face...he went to college even. He wanted to be a director too...he had so many plans for the future..that was sadly cut short. Who knows how brilliant he would be if he were alive today!
