  • Anybody gonna tell him ,she aint tuff ? I didnt think so.

  • He really had a killer tone on the bass. Thanks for posting. Thank you.

  • woww ..supert bon bit.blues..uffff..

    verry verry goodddddddd.

    .

  • Yes it's Austin City Limits (filmed on the campus of UT Austin).

Little known fact: Kim Wilson's favorite harmonica players were Charlie McCoy, and Toots Theielmans (unless he was lying when he told me so). He also liked Larry Adler. He was a harmonica scholar. It was above George Smith who gave him a crash course in showmanship, while living in Goleta, California.

Anyone who lived in Austin during that time was very fortunate. There has never been and will never be anything like it again.

  • Hi EyeMPambo

Well, there's no reason why he wouldn't like those artists. However, I believe that he was influenced by Paul Butterfield and Rod Piazza once told me that Kim told him that Rod was "the reason he'd strapped on his guns", I quote.

He obviously loves the music of Sonny Boy Williamson (Rice Miller), Little Walter and Junior Parker - don't we all?!

I saw him play twice between 1979-81 and he was using just one amp which had no name on it. I never heard one sound better though!

  • Does anybody have any more videos from this show???

  • KIm Wilson in that era (1977-1980) used a pair of old Fender Bassmen amps, hooked up and set on opposite sides of the stage. He used Hohner Marine Bands exclusively and wouldn't be caught dead with Golden Melodies.

Some rergard Kim Wilson as a fine harmonica player, the heir to the Throne left vacant by the untimely demise of Little Walter Jacobs.

  • Any vid with Keith Ferguson is a treat. Orale! c/s

  • WICKED BLUES!!!

  • this is fenomenel

  • Seen them in 86 in Adelaide South Australia supporting Stevie Ray, absolute killer, every visit since then, every gig in Adelaide a real treat. I forgot Kym had hair at one stage!!!!

  • Keith Ferguson on Fender bass - absolute killer bassist, and what a tone!!

  • Ultimate T Birds Vid!!. So glad I lived during a time when I could see these guys perform live in their prime! Much better than the Puff Daddy stuff that prevails today.

  • man...these were the days...I saw this lineup of The Fab T's in 83...butt rockin fo' sho.

  • how great is this vid, thanks for posting it, its a real treat, do you have any more footage from this concert or of the the t- birds from that period? just awesome!!!

  • AWESOME SONG

great videos you have, thank you!

  • KF! the ONE AND ONLY KF!!!!!!!!

  • Wow! This is somethin else. Reminds me of the early 80's when I saw T-birds first times in Finland at Tavastia club. It there more of this early T-birdstuff? I can't find At the Rockpalast from shops. It's also great.

  • Some of the greatest modern blues came from Texas in the 1970s...

  • I was there in the late 70's, and IT WAS AWESOME. Jerry jeff, SRV, Thunderbirds, Guy Clark, Willis, Antones, Willie, even the Armadillo! And, yes, that ACL.

  • Sounds more like Jimie Vaughn. No?

  • the singer is so sexy... oh my god. The bass is flippin killer...

  • that singer is sooooooooooo sexy... i love this video... i want more

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • At last, the classic T-birds lineup. For me, still the best blues band I ever saw and probably ever will.

  • Austin in it's fucking prime...never be the same...glad I was there that time!

  • Look's like Austin City Limits with the capitol in the background fellas.

  • Thanks bud this is Great! Been lookin for this, and "Rock Blast" 1980

  • fyi, it's 'RockPalast', a german show from 1980, you can find it if you google 'fabulous thunderbirds, rockpalast 1980'. good luck.

  • Thanks a million.

Kim is using a Mesa Boogie amp, great sound!

  • Kim has the sound that´s fore sure, Will someone post more of the old vid´s with him and the Fab´s!!! that will be nice.

  • looks like a fender twin to me mic'd on the right side. look at about 1:20 and you can get a pretty good view of it. Great video really good quality thanks for posting.

  • i thnk the one behind him is a twin, and he's using a boogie

for a monitor (for Jimmie too maybe?), which you can see about 2:20. i saw them in this era a few times, and Kim was using either 2 boogies or 1 boogie with an external cab.

    whatever, sounds great!
