  • capoeira cdo é a melhor do Brasil ñ adianta nem tentar

  • eu no poedo creer que eu vi a mestre suassuna e cm chicote :D

  • Capoeira do Brasil até gringo quer jogar rss

  • The point I'm trying to get across is that it's not used in street fighting for quite some time, instead it is taught to people, and if what Mestre Suassuna has said is true then to CDO students it should not be used for fighting. But you are right I can't say what capoeira means to everyone so perhaps I was hasty with me comment.

  • Wow, I was there! I was twelve at the time, and got my green belt. I left a few months after because i got lazy but i wish i had stayed now, i'm gonna re-join.

  • Just consider capoeira a disquised martial art. It is beautiful and requires a lot of stamina and coordination. Trust me, the kicks are for real!!

  • Ive been practicing Capoeira for a bit and trust me, it can be an effective martial art! Just like anything else, there are many versions of it. You wouldnt fight in the street using a karate kata, would you? Check out Mestre Pequeno's videos 4 example.

  • It's not a martial art. Its an art form. And it's not choreographed it's all improvised. You move around the person dodging and attacking, dancing basically. Hence why it is ALWAYS done to music. Mestre Suassuna has been famously quoted saying Capoeira is never meant to be used for fighting.

I would suggest reading up on a subject before commenting so quickly in the future.

  • Capoeira is different things to different people. To the people who fought capoeira with razors and killed each other in street fights, capoeira is a martial art. To people that jump in the roda doing back flips/movimentos/etc. it is acrobatics. One person cannot say what capoeira is for all people all the time. The closest I've heard is Mestre Pastinha's quote, "A capoeira é tudo o que a boca come, é tudo o que o corpo da."

  • Mestre Pastinha has been quoted as saying, "Capoeira Angola é, antes de tudo, luta e luta violenta." Capoeira is difficult to put into a box as being a fight or a dance because it is different things to different people. I don't think you can tell the people that were killed with capoeira in street fights that it's not a martial art. But it sure doesn't look like a martial art when people are using swing. A better quote:"A capoeira é tudo o que a boca come, tudo o que o corpo da."
