Beautiful fish! Question: If another one like that rolls in and you're by yourself will u spear her or let her go since u already have this hog on your wall? No judging, just curious ab an avid spearman's ethics.....
@Fishinntree I'd spear it in a heartbeat. Odds are there are many more fish that size i nthe lake with the size structure i've seen, including one I missed a week before i got this one i KNOW was 30 pounds. a fish this size doesnt reproduce and only eats which can prevent smaller pike from maturing. The fish could die of old age soon too so its not a loss to the lake for spearing one that size...
@xr29fb32 I am an avid pike fisherman, have spent my life chasing pike like this one. I also practice catch and release and I don't spear because you can't put the fish back. That being said, when a fish gets this big it no longer reproduces with any high rate of success. Give the kid a break, he speared one at the end of it's life span.
