@siamgodmother Taiwan is not a part of China. Not to be confused, People's Republic of China ( which is China ) lead by a communist party, and the Republic of China ( which is Taiwan ), lead by a nationalist party, called Kuomintang
It is for political reasons, unlike Chen Shui Bian, Ma Ying Jeou can forfeit personal honor and pride for the sake of the country. However, we all know it is not working, no matter how nice Taiwanese are to PRC, the CCP will not understand or sympathetic with Taiwan and Mr. Ma is just not getting the point.
I think I agree with what Lee Teng Hui says about Ma Ying Jeou, "he is a very good person, but a political idiot."
I still don't get it, how's the missle pointting or not pointing such a big issue. I mean, for any modern military, it takes only minutes to react from stockpiles, don't even mention changing directions.
This is why the CCP is such a inflexible dumbasses in terms of governance, can't even backdown a little to show some little good will to Taiwan and lessen the Pan-Green support. Just like Mao Zedong, the CCP only know how to incite Chaos. I think everyone with intellect will agree those missiles don't need to be there to threaten Taiwan, but having them point to Taiwan will definitely incite fear from Taiwanese people, though, Chaos.
President Ma should be addressed the president of the "Republic of China", not the president of "Taiwan". His country is called the "Republic of China", not to be confused with "People's Republic of China". Taiwan is the name of the island, not the country. If "Taiwan" is used, then the counterpart is the "mainland" or "Chinese mainland".
@aguswidjaja unfortunately the reason they call him the president of taiwan and not the president of the republic of china is because legally according to international law the r.o.c. is a government in exile and not a sovreign state. and legally they do not have status over taiwan. the u.s. has legal status as main occupying power by the treaty of sanfrancisco 1952 also since the u. n. and most nations recognize the p.r.c as the gov. of china they avoid saying the republic of china.
@aguswidjaja Actually, Republic of China is the name of the government that took over Taiwan after the defeat of Japan, so he should still be called the Taiwanese President. if he was called the President of ROC, then informally, he's referred to as the Chinese President which is WRONG. So Taiwanese President is correct. Japan is also an island, yet the country is still called Japan. Your logic doesn't make sense.
@faYte0607 The Republic of China is an entity that was around long before that, since 1912 to be exact. It's just that the People's Republic took over the mainland after WW2 and the ROC retreated to Taiwan where they still maintain that they are the legitimate Chinese government. It's a very odd political situation, but my point is that the term "Taiwanese president" isn't correct since Taiwan is not exactly independent as he says here.
@boettcherownzu So Ma is the President of China, yet he controls no part of China whatsoever but Taiwan instead,.. Seems like the world would recognize him better as the Taiwanese President rather than the Chinese President as not to be confused with Mr. Hu wouldn't you agree?
@faYte0607 Both are far different Chinas, it's fair to call them both the president of their own entities. Taiwan has not ever been declared independent in both of their histories and if it were to declare independence, the PRC would threaten or possibly attack them. I'm just saying, calling him the Taiwanese president is politically incorrect.
@boettcherownzu Politically incorrect yes, but for the sake of simplicity (as not to complicate the Taiwan Straits issue and confuse those who don't understand it [eg. people who are not Chinese or Taiwanese or study the politics between them]), most of the people refer him to the Taiwanese president. I mean if you were to ask random people who the President of China is, 99.9% would say Mr. Hu while the 0.01% would not know/care.
Republic of China, not Taiwan!

I might be tempted to support Taiwan more if they weren't such assholes towards southern Chinese Cantonese speakers like myself.

Mr. Maa Ingjeou is China's legitimate President. Mr. Hwu Jiintau is just CCP General Secretary and CMC Chairman.
The Pan-Blue Coalition should obey Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek's last will of testament instead of making peace with the Chinese Communists.
