She fought against the fire, and survived it. But sadly, bushfires arn't the only thing humans brought against koalas... they've been son nice to bring them Clamydia too. And the poor Sam couldn't stand that, and vets has no chance but to put her down to sleep... there's still no cure for that... and 80% of the koalas suffer that disease

Sam had Chlamydia, a disease which affects the reproductive and urinary systems, and is very common in many koala populations. Sam's condition was deemed too advanced, and she has been euthanased. RIP Sam. We love you, and will never forget you.

Heartwarming story indeed. BUT. Millions of other animals (apart from the human suffering) were killed in the fires. Sam was just one of those in need. I've read awful reports on the aftermath. One turtle was found melted (fused together) but still alive. Now the surviving, perhaps injured animals must struggle for food and water. Just imagining how bad it would be for some of the animals in these fires, I mean, at least humans have helicopters and radio's to tell us which way the fire is going, these poor little things just go any where, even head on into the front. =[ I love SAM lol
