wasnt smart to do a burnout facing the wall specially with all that hp.. one slip up and BAM!!!! ... and for the Eleanor comments. The original Eleanor from the original movie was a 73 Fastback not a 67. Altho i prefer the 67 shape :D
The eleanor GT500 is not an actual GT500. Its just a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback that has been customized to look like the GT500E in gone in 60 secounds. The reason in the movie for why they did this with the mustang is cause a numbers matching GT500 is way to expensive and valuable to use in a movie such as that.
It's a '67. The '68 is identifiable by the hood that has full length vents on top. Also '68 was the year that they started putting 1/4 panel turn signal indicators on them. This doesn't have them. Therefore, '67. ;-)
Actually, the 427 side-oiler powered GT500's are few and far between. The majority of the GT500's were built with 428's. It is entirely possible to put a 429 in one though. If anyone can get it in there and make it run hard, it would be JBA.
always good to see a classic that has been driven :D thats why they were made, to drive them, not sit in a garage collecting dust

My original '67 would bang all four gears and smoke the "L60" tires in 50 feet, without power braking, and without water. This is lame.

That isnt a 67 though, its a 68 - they didnt make any 67's as far as i know with the slant shelby fronts like that =)

Actually, the stock engine in a 1967 GT500 is 427 cubic inches. A much better engine than the 429.
