  • Thumbs up if you want to smack Bernanke's cue ball head with that smug look on his face

  • what kind of MAN is this? CLASSIC example of REP OPPOSITION. ANYTHING that OBAMA is FOR, these people will be against. OK he wants to know how it will be payed, but why does he bunny run from reporters when they just try to understand his mindset. maybe that's it. epiphany. HE HAS LOST HIS MIND therefore he CAN'T speak it. MAYBE WHEN JESUS returns, i might vote REP. oh, my bad, no need. THE GOVT WILL BE ON HIS SHOULDERS AS IT IS WRITTEN AS IT SHOULD BE. REPS make me shake my head in AMAZEMENT.

  • this idiot is the one blocking, let's take away from him his insurance, his benefits and then will see what is his thinking MOTHER FUCKER

  • February 28th unemployment deadline comes and this idiot is the one the blocks it from passing stopping unemployment checks for over one million people. Typical republican

  • Why aren't the majority of Senators on the same page as Bunning? I mean, why can't they see that Bunning's assessment of Bernake (& the Fed) is perfectly accurate? Is our Congress bought & paid for or is our Congress simply that inept?

  • bunning was an excellent pitcher for the detroit tigers and the phillies . he once pitched a perfect game;

  • but besides that Bunning seems to think Bernanke does a good job :-)

  • .. It is said that politics brings together strange bedfellows ..

.. Let's hope there is an emergence of a Progressive/Conservative coalition inside the Senate ...

.. This had already started in the House with the coalition headed by Alan Grayson (P) and Ron Pau (C) .

  • I'd like to see the response and opposing viewpoints, but I actually think Sen. Bunning had some valid concerns.

There certainly was a lot of greed and manipulation in the bailouts (for example, banks used the money to merge and become larger instead of making loans), and I think Bernanke shares some responsibility for a few of the weaknesses in the policy.

  • Bunning has taken to many line drives to the head. This man has the intellect of a sponge mop at work in a gas station. Bunning is a raving lunatic- if the GOP doesn't want him you know he's damaged goods.

  • I wonder how much funding Bunning is getting from pharmaceutical companies and fuel manufacturers to try to put peoples attention on this instead of who's padding his pockets.

My god this guy sounds like another whiney christofuck.

  • Sen. Bunning...you are the one how should go back to Princeton!

You have so fucking no idea about banking!!!

  • in my book, chairman bernanke gets a triple A +++ for sending sidewinder missiles straight up the ass of american taxpayers and securing a decapitation strike.

  • Another WWF distraction to channel peoples anger towards a fall guy. Meanwhile a global government is being set up under the U.N with a fraud global carbon tax. This is all theatre to stop the people from lynching the global bankers aka Rothchilds , Rockefellers,Royal family etc who give Bernanke his marching orders

  • HELL YEAH!

  • I kinda get a sence that he don't like him?

  • I think its amusing they pretend to be upset with each other. its all an act.

  • You gotta love our elected representatives. They bend over for their corporate masters and then when everything falls apart, they go on TV and grandstand in hearings as though they're on the side of the American people. We're not fooled (well, some of us aren't). Time to throw them out and give 3rd party or Independent candidates a chance.

  • pwned...

    elbow drop from the sky....

  • What a video! END THE FED NOW!

  • I wish someone sane would talk to bernacke. bunning says this stuff, and then goes back to his office and throws his poo around.

  • I love Bernake!

  • Yeah you'd love to lick his greasy bald head wouldn't you.

  • Bernake's face - priceless.

  • Owned

  • whoa! bravo Sen. Bunning

  • end the Ayn Rand economy

  • If only the Senate were truly a deliberative body and not a predetermined set of votes, 99% bought and paid for by enemies of the middle class.

  • Like passing a car wreck, I couldn't turn away.

    Here's the problem.

Bernanke's no angel to be sure, but he did not create the system and it's not his exclusive fault that it is allowed to continue it's 'evil ways'. Bunning and pals need to own up to their parts in this as well.

  • hmmm, i hate this stuff because they talk big and then turn around and pass bills that Bernanke, greenspan, paulson, and now Gitner advise. Its all so fake

  • He just got bitch slapped

    metaphorically speaking

  • 7:28

  • This was a total rape.

  • My personal philosophy is that any politician who uses the term: "Where I come from" should be smacked. I also believe in smacking any politician who uses SPORTS analogies. So, while Bunning is right about a few things, he deserves a double backhand on this one.

  • Where I come from = possible representation of the folks that voted um in office.

So um wtf are you talking about? The Senators or Representatives voted into office should not represent the folks that put them in office with their votes?

  • No, what I'm talking about is that I wish Senators and Representatives didn't use shallow catch-phrases.

  • unfuckingbelievable. i feel like i'm dreaming.

  • Bunning has the intellect of a urinal cake- and the reading level of a 4 year old mongoloid.

  • Maybe so, but without a doubt Bernanke is dumber.

  • and Bernanke is a disgusting greedy fuck that should be hung from the gallows.

  • @fl00ders

Bunning should wrap his libs around 12ga. and pull the trigger with is toe. When the GOP wont have you-- you have reached rock bottom. The GOP will take a diaper wearing John, over this has been lunatic. Id rather see him lay his face across a railroad track and wait for the SPLAT.

Conservatives have the intellect of a garden hose, Bunning doesn't know which end of a fork to use.

  • I don't like Bernanke, but as someone who has crossed the border into Kentucky from Tennessee, and noted the immediate decline in the roads, the devastated landscape, and yellow rivers of the mining industry, the inner city population supplementing their income with front yard mini-billboards advertising cigarettes, I wonder at this gentleman's credibility.

  • You might want to talk to the city mayor or the state governer about that...

And just because he could be a crappy senator for his own state doesn't necessarily make him wrong about this.

  • Buninng's a mouthbreather, absolutely no question about that. Narcissist former sports-star authoritarian know-nothing fuckwit.

    Tim Tebow in twenty years.

But give him credit for calling out the casino capitalistas. Digby's blog says this fucker Bernanke has started "call[ing] for cutbacks in Medicare and Social Security even as unemployment rises and the middle class is endangered."

    That's guillotine shit, there.

  • Gotcha. It all comes down to the farcical idea that we must "run our government like a business".

What's the final word at work?

    "This ain't no democracy buddy!"

It would be nice if there was some evolutionary memory of running a government like a government within the body politic. They're all Veal Pen refugees now.

  • The Federal Reserves goal is the engineered collapse of our economy.

  • I give him props for being vigilant to deliver this speech-but for F*#K's sakes learn to read fluidly! I wonder what his views on literacy are? Not to nit pick but this would be much more effective if it wasn't delivered by Porky Pig and Elmor Fudd's love child!

  • This is a republican I could get behind. (Stands up and applauds)

  • Is Bunning a liberal Republican, or what? Hm. He favors regulation of things like derivatives?

  • @whoo689

"He favors regulation of things like derivatives?"

That's what he says now. The only way to tell for sure is to look at how he voted on the Gramm-Leach-Bliley and CFM Acts if he was a Senator in '99-2000.

    Does anybody know?

(Other than that, what he said here is true. He voted against both Bernanke AND Greenspan.)

  • Old, decrepit Jim Bunning, barely able to read the statement prepared for him by his staff.

  • Thus, the use of fiat money is more justifiable in financing a depression than in financing a war.

    Carroll Quigley

Counterfeiting money puts the taxpayers into perpetual poverty.

How many wars how many depression since 1776 to 1913 and how many wars and depressions since 1913 to now.

Big difference with sound money the debacles are shorter in duration.

  • the only issue is that as the population grows so must the money.

  • Nope counterfeiting doesn't solve shit , you know their counterfeiting because how much did the population grown between 1776 and 1971, Gold goes up $10

Gold goes up daily now, World reserve currency is a farce, counterfeit.

  • calm down

You have so much energy you jumped to a conclusion

  • So why is the price of gold not stable ?

Its because the Federal Reserve is world reserve currency and their printing money to cover up the debacle called Iraq and Afghanistan.

Its the same bullshit Nixon had to end gold backing of the US dollar because he allowing the counterfeiting of money to pay for the jungle debacle, now the taxpayers get the sandbox debacle.

What a bunch of assholes, the taxpayers are no better.

The globe's paying for the bullshit...

  • He didn't jump to a conclusion. He goes on a rant about inflation, fiat currency, gold prices and the Federal Reserve on literally EVERY TPM video. (Pick one of the other ones at random and see what I mean.) The fact that this particular video is actually ABOUT the Federal Reserve is pure coincidence.

(It's pretty funny in an "even a broken clock is right twice a day" kind of way.)

  • anyone want to argue with common sense, for the fed, good luck!

  • "You are the definition of a moral hazard" lol

  • video freezes at 3:07. just me?
