Not to be a bummer but the current oldest living cat in Guinness World Records is now only about 24, which unfortunately means these other ones they used to have listed there are no longer living :( At least she had a long life and people who loved her and kept her even when she couldn't hold her pee anymore. She looked absolutely beautiful for her age too.

Something is troubling me: according to a dailymail article, a spokesman for Guinness World Records said there WAS no entry for the world's oldest cat. So how can Sheba tie with anything in Guinness records, if it's not in there? I'm not saying she isn't as old as you claim, but maybe you are mistaken about an entry being in the records.

Sheba is beautiful. I found this vid while searching for the oldest cat in the world b/c I heard recently that the oldest cat in the world right now is in China, at 29 yrs old. I had a friend who had a cat that lived to be 22. One of my cats is 17 now, she can't see well due to high blood pressure, unfortunately we caught it a bit too late so she probably will not recover her eyesight, but she can still see a little. I can't imagine Sheba is still alive today. ?

They lived on a farm at the time and was given as a gift from another farmer whose cat had a litter,

People saying this cat doesn't look old need to get their eyes checked. She clearly looks and acts like she is VERY old. Very slow movements, She looks like she can't see very well ( just staring around looking confused). Her eyes look glossed over like she has cataracts.

@xXCREEKSTARXx well, in cat years, the averadge life-span for a cat is about 14-22. i used to have 5 cats, and now i am down to 1. my last cat's name is smokey, and he is 17. although i am 12, and my friend's cat is 23, so in human years, my 17 year old cat is probubly about 89. :-)

But to be honest, I don't know their average age. However, I know that 38 is pretty miraculous.

I'd say they age about the same as dogs. Perhaps 12-20 would be "normal".

My friend had a pretty old cat, something over 20yo. She couldn't see very well, and one time she wanted to follow him down to the basement, but she tripped on the stairs. not a very long fall, but she was probably pretty fragile by that age. she died. poor cat. take good care of Sheba.

hard to believe that an asian breed like that can live that long. My asian breed can died at the age of 17 due to kidney failure which is common among asian breeds and the vet said that asian breeds normally do not live past the age of 16 or 17 they are not sure why. so you can see why I have a hard time believing it

Pretty. My cat Baby lived to be 38 as well.. baby died March 22/ 2008. Let the kitty do what it wants. At . I had to move Baby's food, and water right next to him. He was having a hard time as well. Baby went from about 16lbs to just under 4lbs when he died. If your kitty has a hard time eating the food the other cat is eating.. Just get some baby food in the jar. .. se really looks like Birman cat or "Sacred Cat of Burma" rather than siamese, im quite sure about it, face is shorter and rounder, neck is shorter and doesnt stand out at all and the hair is just like birmans semi long and silkysoft

My old cat Bengi will be around 35 this year. He's a bruiser, even tougher than when he was a kitten. He's also pretty much invincible. Never been sick, never been hurt, always a healthy happy cat. I knew a cat that was 33, an outdoor cat on a farm, surprisingly, the age was definite because a fellow living there was a baby when the cat, Pete, was a kitten, and they grew up together. He was very limited in his movement, and though once a tabby, he was now snow white. I don't know when Pete finally passed on. Apparently cats can live up to 40 years in the same way that Humans can live up to 120 - with death resulting from mitochondrial decay, a theory now being questioned.
