I hope with the new album, she would return to this classic Mariah, a lot more pop with songs of emotions rather then urban and hip hop. She is a very good songwriter and her vocals are amazing, I just wish she would use those talents more like her classic days. I am hoping she would bring the pop, adult contemporary style back into her music. If her next album is once again filled with urban and hip hop, I will not be buying.

I much prefer mariah when her songs are lower, when she uses more of a chest voice. She hasn´t done much of that after the DAYDREAM album. Sure her voice and public image changed a lot over the years, but when you meet her in person she's still a nice, genuine person. Any fan who had the chance to would tell you so. Then her voice is a bit tired because of often concerts. Someone can loose his voice when he is 60, the other one can loose it even when he's only 18 or less... It's a question of God. Maybe it's a bit odd what I'm going to say, but.. I prefer the sound of the 2010 Mariah (I'm thinking mostly of her Washington performances) more than the 1993' Mariah... This is back before she started doing the annoying "make it happoooh-woahh-woahhone" thing she does now a days when she preforms this. You know what I mean. At 4:07-4:13 she hold the note. She doesn't do that now. Personally I prefer this version.

everyone knows that she can't sing like this anymore.. she was perfect here... now she still has a beautiful voice, but she can't hit some notes. Anyway, I think that she damaged her voice only because she wanted to give us performances like this one... so, thank you mariah, you used your voice as a gift, a gift for us :)

@sisi0085 She can hit every note like she does here....but maybe they arn't that long or that good resonated. She only lips sometimes too protect her voice!! And She still has a amazing voice...but her voice sounds often tired and changed...But she still has the same vocalrange!

@sisi0085 There are several things that have damaged her voice. The first one is her whistle register. She used it too much and here is an effect. Then her voice is a bit tired because of often concerts. Someone can loose his voice when he is 60, the other one can loose it even when he's only 18 or less... It's a question of God. The God haв given the voice to Mariah but she didn't save it because she used a bad tecnique.

@Shazni1409 If sound has a quality it doesn't mean a singer uses a perfecr tecnique. She is one of the best singers, but when it's time to discuss tecnique she doesn't get very high positions. She is amazing, but doesn't care about the voice.

@Forever1Charmed The whistle register, when used right, is not harmful. That's erroneous. Her voice deteriorated from overwork and touring. She had an album out every year of the 90's.

@Forever1Charmed No not at all it's not the bad techninc.At that period she had a superb techninc neither is it because of the many concerts.Is aguilera better shouting and singing her ass out???However her voice is still smashing!Mariah has explained that she has nodules in her vocal chords since she was little and that's why she has the whistle and the strong belting register.The only thing I agree with that may have deteriorated her voice is her using the whistle register too often!

@agisnon Ok. Aguilera has a bad technique too and her voice is much worth than it was before. Mariah has used whistle too much and it also has damaged her vocal. Let's imagine. Whistle is not harmful for your voice when you know hot to use it correctly (she knows) and when you know the right time when to have a break (she didn't). So, she have used whistle many times during the concerts (There have been so many concerts, even several a day). So, we can se the result. You're right.

@flythatbyme Who said I'm not a fan? I'm just realistic about her voice. She overused her voice even though she had vocal cord nodules. Isn't she careless? I think so. She could stop tourting for a while and then come back, but she didn't. When her voice was in a bad condition she, worse still, pushed it. She's incredible, but Mariah never cared about her voice.

@agisnon Everybody know that not every song was live. She used pre-records. But it doesn't make her a bad and fake singer. She's a professional and there'll never be the second Mariah Carey. She is unique and I can't argue. There are only siveral singers who are the best and can be compared to each other. They are our music and style. I will never accept Lady Gaga or stuff like that as a quality music...

@sisi0085 She damaged her voice for us, she could have avoided concerts to keep her voice rested but she didn't want to disappoint us (fans). She even sang when she was sick or had a sore throat just for us. She risked everything for us. That's why I praise her, she is so professional.

Also I think the way she sings now is a progression of her voice, (yes) there are the ones who do not like it, but when paying attention she evokes the full scopes of emotions into her songs. her last few live concerts Proves to me Mariah has not lost her voice but is at the highest level.

Maybe it's a bit odd what I'm going to say, but.. I prefer the sound of the 2010 Mariah (I'm thinking mostly of her Washington performances) more than the 1993' Mariah... Of course her voice back in the day was sublime, unique, but now especially since being pregnant, she's got a mystic quality in her voice and attitude that I like very much :)

This is back before she started doing the annoying "make it happoooh-woahh-woahhone" thing she does now a days when she preforms this. You know what I mean. At 4:07-4:13 she hold the note. She doesn't do that now. Personally I prefer this version.
