  • are you running just the cat back or are you running a header and test pipes...and did it increase power at all

  • @MrWTF6751

I can't remember if I had a header in the car when I made this video or not. If I did have a header installed, it is the Tracy Sports TS-02 manifold. But I know for certain that I was running with the OEM catalytic converter and OEM air intake. I'll probably make a new updated video when I get the test pipe put in. And then it will be a full intake/exhaust system. I'd like to install a light weight flywheel and drive shaft before then though.

  • I came @ :032

  • that is some sick sound

  • They don't do E-tests where I live, so would I be allowed to go catless?

  • in cali anything on the catback is good except they check for decibels. which is if it's over 91-93 db than you're not passing.

  • @mengthor

The exhaust is rated at 93 db max. Not sure how much the dB rating changed with intake and header also installed.

  • @Reineck82 i always remember that on stock that most or all tanabe installed street cars should pass.

  • Sounds great! puttin mine on this weekend.

  • Great Sounding Exhaust!!! I'm really looking into this one...Did you say you have the stock cat or not???

  • In this vid, the header and cat are stock. I still am running a stock cat, however I do have a TS-02 manifold on the car now. That gives it an even deeper tone. Not sure what a Test pipe would do . . . they are illegal to run in my state. :(

  • how do you find out the illegal part???

because i want to see if they are illegal in Minnesota

  • Check your local laws.

In case you don't know, Test pipe is a replacement to the CAT. Cops know if you're running without a CAT by the smell of your exhaust, and it'll leave a little soot residue on the bumper.

  • Stop being a girl... its illegal everywhere to remove the cats...

they are not going to really know if you have one or not...

when you go for emissions just put it on...

  • It is illegal in the US. But there ARE loopholes. In my state, (you'll have to check the laws in your own state) you can register your car in the boonies (you keep your car in the boonies). Then you only need one emissions test and you're good to go. I know a TON of people here who have done it and been perfectly fine. You just have to be more careful around cops. If you go easy on the throttle, the smell isn't as apparent.

  • LOL thats how it is everywhere.

Undeveloped places do not really have emissions laws. And it doesn't really matter.... just put it on when you go to emissions testing and take it of after your done.

You wont get a ticket trust me...

  • @dsmvlado it isnt required to have a cat in Indiana, i've checked my laws ;3

  • @Reineck82 most cars will get soot on the bumper regardless if they have a cat or not. its not like the cat works like a DPF.

soot is from unburnt fuel, ie: engine is too rich. and the catylitic converter does not break down unburnt fuel.

  • i have a tanabe on my civic type R very deep sound, i dont like it.. i think vtecs shine when its high pitched the biltz nur spec is what i want. £700 though about $1300 and i aint spending that much

  • Yeah, but some people like the deep sound. I do. And I'd really like to have a Tracy Sports exhaust for my S2k, but that costs about $3500 US. And I ain't spending that much either.

  • how much did your tanabe cost is it the concept G?

cause the concept G i have on my civic cost £600 so its actually about the same price as a blitz nur spec..

i do like the sound myself,,, TANABES are very good exhausts, if you liek the low sound then cool.. i was just saying i like mine to be higher..

  • The Concept G cost about $700 US when I bought it a year ago. About the only complanint I have with it is that one exhaust tip sticks out about a quarter inch further than the other side, and I have tried to have that adjusted/corrected without success.

  • yer they sound good, i guess im keeping mine, i checked mine and it wasant a concept G it was a Tanabe Racing madillion.

i was looking on the website and the shapes are confusing with the models.. the exhausts should e the same length,, and shouldnt stick out further than the other

  • man thats deeper then the N! love it 5*

  • please post a video of the car passing on the road.

  • So, this isnt a stock s2000 with a tanabe? it has a header? and test pipe?

i'd like to hear the exhaust on a stoock car

  • I have the same one on my car!!

One of the best exhaust I`ve ever known

well at least better than 5zigen

  • The Tanabe sounds even better with the TS-02 header on. A little deeper. I love the system. It's great, and wouldn't change a thing further.

    I've havn't heard the 5Zigen setup yet.

  • My header is 4-2-1 n it was made by my friend. It`s a custom header tho. I threw away my 5zigen cuz it sounds so ugly after I used it for 2weeks. after I changed to tanabe + the custom header I got +10 HP. Really feel the difference when accelerate

  • So I take it you had a base-line dyno run and a second one after your header install to document the changes? Depending on where you look on the RPM band, I gained 17 hp and 13 trq, then lost 8 hp and 7 trq over a 1k period (6.5-7.5K), and then gained it all back with an extra 14 hp and 10 trq by the time I hit 9k over the stock setup The drop is typical for the TS header, but the overall gains were significant. I've got a really flat torque curve which is good.

  • Sounds awesome, i have just placed order for this exhaust, what are the gains from the header and exhaust alone?

  • Exact gains are unknown to me. Tanabe clamed a 5HP gain, which in reality could mean a loss. I did seem to feel (gut feeling mind you) a bit more in the mid-range. I made the video with a stock header. I had it dynoed (also on youtube) with a Tracy Sports TS-02 header and gained about 10-17 HP and torque in the low-mid and top. Lost about 8 each just after vtec, but gained it all right back within 1k RPM.

  • Is it loud on daily drive ?

Could you tape it onboard while driving ?

  • No, it's not that loud. It's definately louder than stock, but not abnoxious. It will be quiet when you want it to be, meaning it's quiet when you're cruising, but gets loud when you accelorate or decelorate (engine brake).

  • Very nice Paul!
