  • very good quality, thanks.

  • FYI, Maid of Orleans had originally been written by Andy McCluskey on 30 May 1981, the 550th anniversary of Joan of Arc's death. The song is in 6/8 time, giving it a waltz-like style. With only eight lines of text it is almost an instrumental. The main theme is a synthesized bagpipe tune (played on the Mellotron --- consisting of the "female choir" and the "3-Violins" presets). The intro is made of strange noises and was added later: (From Wikipedia).

  • Joan of Arc is played by an actress valled Julia Tobin.....You might know her as Brenda....Neville's wife in Auf Wiedersehen Pet

  • This video has Julia Tobin playing Joan of Arc.

  • OMD has released a CD/DVD (music videos) of the greatest hits called Messages: OMD Greatest hits.

  • Magnifique. J'adore!

    "Merci"

  • classic, love the music in this

  • Wow! looks like it's just been released! Sharp + love the enhanced ending

  • First record I bought, still brilliant after all these years

  • Fantastic video absolutely loved it!!!! Gives me chills since it is about a real girl.

Joan d'Arc I am disarmed by the beauty of your holy light.

  • Epic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Epic...Excellent !!! Thanks for posting. OMD highly under rated talented group. Great Audio, Nice

  • This is a classic HOWEVER the new audio mix seems (to me) too heavy on the synth, NOT enough on the drum beat (which is the true marching beat of the song) and the vocals get lost in the mix a bit too. But it's an OMD song I could easly listen o over and over again!

  • @bobbyallentube If you have seen this video on the 2008 CD/DVD OMD Greatest Hits; this video is the same, but the volume used is from the 1982 original song.

  • Siempre sere tu caballero.

Porque prefiero morir como caballero andante ; antes que negar tu amor....

  • Nice tune still to this day

  • Excellent again Dex! OUTSTANDING!

  • It is going to be outlandidly cold this winter. Six foot this January, snow deep, no doubt, I feel it already in my bones and water.

  • @yippitydodah I'm a Life coach (part time) at the mo. What i told some of my clients last year was to try and find as many friends as possible and spend time in one house at a time together saving on heating etc.. The only other advice i can give if you smoke is to buy or make an upright ciggarette holder,it makes your ciggarette last longer and you can also cup your hands over it to warm your hands in between inhalation. And don't be frightened to look too padded.Winter Clothes save lives!

My advice is raid a forest, and cut it down. And build a fire, and a chimney, if you haven't got one. Stick the chimney out of a window from a wood burner if you have to. It is going to be well fecking parky this winter, I feel it, as I said, in my bones and water already. And get ready to shoot anything that is not human that is food of any description, but if your granny dies, don't hold back, get the chopper out - spare ribs of grandmother I have been told is quite tasty...

  • @McBringbackfags

only joking by the way, or am I?

But it is good to be ready for any eventuality, but your advice is totally super sound - share energy with your neighbour, and remember where the stop cock is and turn it off before you leave the house. Water under pressure freezes quicker.

  • @yippitydodah I have most of my house fitted out with emergency laser submersible night switches for such an occassion. Most of the house wiring bar the box room and the landing wiring was pre-bonded and can withstand a hacksaw or similar and depth pressures of up to eighteen metres. I was looking up Tooled -up for defence purposes but came across a good site for Karcher SCP 6000 Submersible Clean Water Pump with Float Switch 5 Metre Lift 6000 Litres Hour Max Flow 250w 240v. Sounds bob on!

  • @McBringbackfags

You'r well prepared - well done and nice to see. When the next ice age comes, rumoured this winter, we will have several neighbours staying with us, it looks.

    : )

All the best - have a nice winter, and remember those spare ribs of grandmother on the indoor barbie....

  • @McBringbackfags

Have you seen The Trap, a film with Oliver Reed and Rita Tushingham in it, about Canadian trapping in the nineteenth century? Great amazing scenes of cold snowy winter in it. It is on yootoob in full, here is part one of three link to it. Yootoob copy paste and search,

    watch?v=CJMWStIvUN8

  • @yippitydodah Going to find it,it sounds great.

  • @McBringbackfags

It's on youtube in three half an hour clips, first part at the the youtube search link I gave, for a taster.

Might be a bit too heavy on the opposite ends of life then for the sexes roles to the average person these days. But that is how it was then. A great movie - saw it years ago first when very young, and has always stuck in my mind.
