In 28 days later Jim wakes up at a hospital and he doesn't remember how he end up there. I just wonder if Danny Boyle had something in mind for future. To me it seemed he was cured from the rage virus by doctors. Anyway 28 days later is the best virus movie I have seen till date. Would also recommend the movie "The Road" about survival after apocalypse. It is depressing but brilliantly done.

First of all, the scene that you described in 28 Days Later where the father was getting eaten by a zombie, and a girl said "Dad, are you okay?" definetly never happened. If you're reffering to Frank getting infected, Hannah's confusion was understandable, she didn't see him get the blood in his eye, as well as not wanting to admit to herself that he was infected.

I really shouldn't jump into the "are they zombies?" debate - but what the hell.

I think a "zombie" is a person robbed of all free will, acting under the influence of something other than their own reason - be it a reanimating virus, brainwashing or feral rage. Basically, a zombie is a body running around without a soul. That covers Romero's "ghouls", Boyle's "Infected", maybe even Ennis' "Crossed". Being a reanimated corpse is incidental, but not the defining trait.
