  • I've heard a lot of people do this song, including Elvis and Al Green, both masterful vocalists. And yet, it never means as much as when Hank sang it.

  • This so emotionally moving that I just shot myself.

  • Ole Hank won't steer you wrong.......and still relevant in the 21st century.....

  • I cant it wont let me.

  • Check out the novel "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive" by Steve Earle. It's a gem.

  • Unbeleivable lyrics timeless classic son

  • Hank Williams. The original "forever alone"

  • im very lonesome,,,full of tears

  • @twittylegend JUST be happy listen to hank youll be ok

  • I've always been a Hank Williams fan, but I just realized that he died at age 29. Wow! All that talent in such a youngster!

  • what a classic song, but i really think Elvis does a lot better version, Elvis said himself its the saddest song he ever heard, long live the king.

  • I'm from Maine and I love this. You don't have to be a southern man to appreciate great music.

  • classic

  • Hank Williams the greatest to do it!

  • My father enjoyed Hank - and said that Hank had a sad life

Hank was one of the best per my father

    *****stars

    thumbs up

  • A piece of personal history is so vividly alive whenever I hear this! I had just gotten off the Bus in Oct. '55, and as I walked into the Farmhouse, this was playing on the record player. I walked into the Kitchen and saw my Daddy, his head down on the table, a glass of whiskey next to his hand. He looked up with red eyes and tear stained cheeks. "Your Momma's run off and she ain't comin' back." I went to him and though never one for much emotion, he hugged me and wouldn't let go.

  • don't allow ppl, liberals in general, label u!...I can label them liberals that's what they call themselves, they don't go by their real name,Communist!

  • @Syzygy60 That is possibly the most moronic thing I have ever seen written.

  • classic now, classic forever --- thanks for sharing

  • Its funny I'm considered a Yankee but I live about 10 miles below the mason dixon line!!! :p

  • @ledamianded that dont mean you're not a yankee though. You gotta think, south of the mason dixon line has a few states that arent really considered southern to southerners, but considered southern to Yankees. its pretty crazy really.

  • ive only heard elvis version,he doesnt sing some of the lines that hank wrote.1st time i heard this its good

  • u have a choice be ur usual piece of shit or deal with me,u won't like the latter

  • we know u r corrupt liars plz don't talk on My TV I get sick hearing ur voice, serve ur term and leave so we don't have to associate with u forever more!

  • Hey washington politicians obama in particular, kiss mine and Hank's ass!

  • we don't shoot bastard hank haters here,...we do like Hitler and hang with a thin wire noose...I kid we shoot them after giving them ciggarettes

  • My first dog was named after "Hank" He was a cool dog, but he always looked sad... typical hound dog!

  • one of my all time favorites

  • Yankees, who are too ignorant to follow proper rules of, English just have to make some dumb ass remark about people in the South. I don't suppose they can help it.

  • Like all country music singers like me, singing in clubs there would always be a request for a hank song you could see the difference in the crowd when you sang it. I sometlmes thought he was there with me.

  • man those 28 dislikes suck at life

  • Familia Buscapé.

  • Hank Sr had it whatever it was he had it

  • I sure miss Hank, I remember him well.

  • Soulful and genuine.

  • he was so good

  • it is 2011 and I am 63 years old now.I played in bands for 35 years rock and roll. But now I play the kind of music I love, rock or country hank music,Sr. or Jrs.I have found now and play it for me.RIP Hank your music will live on,so glad I foud it.

  • man tears well up in my eyes everytime i hear the intro to this song

  • This is, bar none, is, and always will be, the finest 'Country' , if not American song ever given to us....

  • Hank died way way too young. He battled morphine for a few years because of a bad back and spine. I can relate. I grew up on this guy and will always love his music. Someone posted that he had so much pain in his young voice…wow..did he ever.

  • What country music used to be and what it was always meant to be. Hank

was one of a kind. Life wasn't as kind to him as it should have been, but

he left us all with a legacy that will never die. Hank we still love you.

  • who ever disliked this song is a communist.

  • @blahblahblam84 I'm a communist and I love this song. Everyone knows only libertarians hate Hank.

  • @blahblahblam84 or not

  • I love this song

  • i love hank senior. the junior is too wild.I loved hank senior i wasn't even born.

  • There's nothing that pulls the heartstrings like listening to Hank's hauntingly beautiful, plaintive voice. This song makes you feel sad on two levels: one, because of the lyrics, and two, as a reminder of how terribly far country music has drifted from what it once was.

  • almost!

  • Artists used to feel their lyrics. Often they lived them. Today they just crank that so called country music out of a machine, and it all sounds the same. Back in the day you could turn on your radio and know who was singing instantly. They all had their own distinct sound . Today I can't tell them apart. Hopefully country music will go full circle and return to it's roots !!

  • Such wonderful pictures of Hank! LOVE THEM!

  • cant beat good ol hank

  • Simply the best country song ever.

  • These are the best lyrics ever written in my opinion. You can feel his pain...gosh I love Hank!

  • r i p herculese my son my comanion my friend ill see you some day dady loves you

  • From the land of the Bluenose.....don't git no better youz!

  • love him since i was a small child and still fill the same affect 40 years later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what went wrong music used to be good like this

  • those bastards that disliked this song oughta be shot

  • @tatersalad7808 Interesting that you said that. I was watching Johnny Cash's biography on television and he used that phrase a lot on stage later in his career until he spent some time around a young boy that changed his outlook and from that day on he stopped saying "they oughta be shot"

  • @inthekindofworld Maybe you oughtta clarify that. If I was Johnny Cash, I wouldn't want any rumors goin' round that a young boy changed my outlook on life. Hate to see a great country singer become a poster boy for NAMBLA. hehehe ;-)

  • @tatersalad7808 their probably pop country lovin homos

  • @tatersalad7808 dam right shot and PISSED on shot and fuckin PISSED on

    hank rest on

  • @tatersalad7808 don't you think that is a little extreme? so the don't like what you like. Why does it matter what they think, if they don't like it then it's their loss.

  • @tatersalad7808 or maybe they should be left to their opinion. think shot is bit strong, dont ya think?

  • @tatersalad7808 is that how you deal with people having different opinions down there in the south? I guess there is a reason why people think the south is home of the dumbest of men.

  • @tatersalad7808

    Forgive 'em.

They are lost in the downpour of their own tears.

  • I recommend listening to Volbeat's version of this song. A little faster and definitely more modern. This is a great song either way!!

  • i cry to this all the time

  • Like most of his songs, soft slow music. It's all singing. What pure talent!!! I can't listen to modern country. too bad I was born after this era when country was country! Modern rock, I mean country sucks! I can't tell a difference.

  • All of Hanks songs remind me of my childhood, My dad would play and sing his songs all the time. My dad was a like hank in alot of ways. My dad passed in 2008 and i miss him.

  • this purity and truth in voice nukes all the pre cooked bs out of nashville today. where is todays hank???

  • @kelvinkloud Remeber whar lee ann came into the scene singing lorettas and patsy's stuff. I had high hopes she would keep the country in the country. Since then I too have given up!

  • The pain is there. It's in me too

  • how can someone dislike a song like this? its heartless. i love him, i grew up listing to this with my poppy. i miss him so much </3

  • 21 people are... ow wait i have a life

  • Some people are so lost. I am reading the comments on this and all I can think of is really? You want to talk about politics instead of this talented man. What idiots. GO to some news page and blow your shit there...this is for fans of music not loser politics or politicians !!!!

  • @VedderState BRAVO!!

  • HANK...FOREVER!

  • Really? 20 people disliked this? I need to beat the hell out of 20 people? Ok... Line up.

  • such pain in his voice for a young man.the only voice with more pain is john cash on his very last recordings after june carter died.

  • @bluefukingreene Amen. Both John and Hank you can just feel their pain, which they beautifully reflect in their songs.

  • @TheDesertsItalian it is touching indeed.

  • @bluefukingreene no dout

  • @Kentuckybluegrass21 love old country.the only current artist that has that feel, that ive heard anyway, is hank 3.

  • Oh wow that is a great performance.

  • @bomber88x And you dont think thats racist? You're obviously an uneducated idiot that has never read a history book....or any other book for that matter.

Dont bother responding. I wouldnt want you to be late for your Klan meeting.

  • way country should be

  • live Hank 1....two more versions...how can ya beat that?....ya can't!!!

  • southern democrats from the1950s? You mean the ones like George Wallace who stood in the doorways of schools and said little black boys and girls couldn't go to school with little white boys and girls?

    July 2 Marty Stuart; July 15 The Bellamy Brothers; August 5 Josh Thompson;

August 26 Ricky Skaggs; September 3 Jerrod Niemann.

  • I agree with rizoburn

  • What's up with the political arguments? I don't think this is what the song is about. :)

  • @ultimate175gm you're an idiot I am a democrat yes we do believe in individual rights. I am surprised that you didn't have enough intelligence to realize and mention what a great singer Hank Williams was - yes - he was a Southern Democrat!!

  • @MrMickey2000 A southern democrat in the 50's would be a right winged conservitive today

  • 20 people couldn't hear the lonesome whipporwill

  • if you hit unlike, you suck.

  • he was gone b4 i was born,,but i was raised on him,,also my kids range from 24 down to the youngest who turned 18,,they know bout all the songs of hank sr,george jones and quit a few other older ones,,i love this music,,always makes me remember the weekend bbq's and fish fry's, crab boils,,in louisiana,,i miss those days

  • 20 people have justin bieber posters on their wall.

  • 20 people wouldnt wouldnt kno real music if it jumped up and bit them in the ass

  • @1990raleigh amen

  • The difference is that it is all country rock instead of country western. It is a shame that there are so few left and they do not get the recognition they deserve. Like the song that is about that, murder or death on music row.

I also think it is a shame that they are now calling Loretta Lynn the queen of country. Sorry, she can't touch Kitty Wells!!! She was and will remain the Queen of Country!

  • We have a vid of a new Hank co-written song on our channel. Glenn Tubb got the lyrics from Audrey and the song was not finished and released till last year

  • I was bron and raised in Tennesee, and Hate country music, well that is I HATE modern county music, this old stuff is better than some fake ass Taylor swift, you know hwat I'm saying?

  • My mother learned to dance at clubs Hank was playing at in Montgomery, AL. My uncles played with his band from time to time during this time also. Long live Hank!

  • im 13 and i luv him he so awsome

  • 20 people on here are liberal nazis

  • @allenco65

I'm a liberal, not a Nazi, and Hank SR ROCKS! His son is good, and his grandson is a spitting image in looks and sound. A very talented family.

  • @jellet35 dude i was talking about the 20 people who hit the thumbs down button

  • @allenco65 I'm a liberal and I appreciate good country music. So I'm a nazi why??

  • @DevoBassGirl Liberal, Nazi it's all the same!

  • @aaaaa0000000000 No it's not.

  • @62grossman Yeah Nazi's are less sneaky with their agenda, unlike liberals who are always trying to backdoor their failed policies and twisted idea's on America!

  • @aaaaa0000000000 I reject all "ism's" as phony, but liberals and conservatives in america aren't killing millions of people as part of their stated agenda like the Nazi's or the Communists.

  • @62grossman NOT YET! But Liberalism generally ends with the barrel of a gun! That's why the parallel to Nazi-socialism. Liberals believe it is OK to limit individual rights for the sake of the "So-called" common good! The problem with this kind of ruling class is that they almost never feel they should be held to the same standard! Liberals "Big Government" policies are the problem, not the solution. Individual rights = Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!

  • @aaaaa0000000000 Some have said the same thing about republicans and conservatives. Liberals believe in individual rights as well, don't pretend that regulations don't fit into a political model of protection of rights.

  • @ultimate175gm Who are the some? Michael Moore? Hell he the biggest capitalist I know !

The problem is that over-regulating has become the norm, over taxing to influence behavior is not what Govt. is for. The size and scope of Govt is over-reaching in our lives! We have plenty of Laws on the books, we need to enforce what is there, not create a bigger "Nanny-state". Liberal politics never will debate their agenda openly instead " we have to pass the bill to find out what's in it"! Who

  • @ultimate175gm No, democrats believe in individual rights, Liberals are just that, complete and total morons.

  • @aaaaa0000000000 here's a tune and a man to consider in your corporate ideology youtube.com/watch?v=VwcKwGS7OSQ

  • @aaaaa0000000000 German National Socialism was RIGHT WING is was no more socialist than Conservatism is conservative.

  • @Daveparts Ok, Brain full of mush!

  • So, is this Country....or Western?

  • @Engage777 country

  • @Engage777 it's REAL country.

  • someone post lyrics plz.

  • they don't make em like this anymore

  • Call me a heathen, but I like BJ Thomas's version (circa 1966) more...But Hank is

    Immortal...!

  • great song and great man. i love it ! - erkele

  • Thumbs up if King of the Hill’s Episode #02 Season Two: ¨And They Call It Bobby Love¨, brought you here looking for the songs played in the background! =3 (There’s a Tear in my Beer & I’m so lonesome I could cry)

  • This song has always devastated me when I hear it. I can only imagine what Hank W. must have felt when he composed the song and its lyrics.

  • I'm sure ol Hank is rolling in his grave everytime someone turns on the radio today. Country music is dying and being replaced with Pop. "Bubblegum Country" is what it is. R.I.P Hank and "GOOD" Country!

  • This one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. It brings tears to my eyes.

  • Awsome tune

  • Im just glad younger people are finally listening to REAL music instead of that stupid shit of today. I grew up on this stuff when to here it you had to listen to the radio or the Grand Ol Opry on the radio, the songs were of peoples lives and meant something . some of the singers of today wouldnt know a great song if it bit them on the ass.

  • @tdwoodworth65 i grew up on this stuff and im only 20, thankgod for those old timers in my life :)

  • im 18. and this is awesome. i can and do listen to hank every day. i cant stand new music. im only 18 and i love this stuff!!

  • @chris8889ify tht means u kick ass youngblood stay country , lord knows we could use some youth with some sense

  • @mrdeerstalker1 im 16 and i listened to the music my whole life aint nothing better

  • @chris8889ify your comment wouldn't have pissed me off if you didn't think you were so fucking important for liking this and only being 18. If you go to TONS of other legendary old artists' videos the highest rated comments are JUST like yours. But you probably knew that already didn't you? Shit I was listening to this and enjoying it when I was younger than you and I'm two years older, but that's beside the point. Had to take out my frustrations on somebody - sorry it was you but damn annoying.

  • @lilrichbig18 wow. your a fucking prick. how do i think im important because i like this. tell me. ive listened to nothing but this kind of music since i can remember listening to music. fuck off. you dont even fucking know me. i dont think im important because like this and im only 18. am i not aloud to put a post about me liking something. i will say what i want about anything. man you just made my fucking day.

  • @chris8889ify You had to mention that you are 18 twice which is retarded unless you are fishing for thumbs up like all the other comments similar to yours

  • @lilrichbig18 i could care less about about thumbs up. am i not aloud to post a comment on something i like? all i did was write a comment about something that i like. i guess the next time i want to post acomment on an intrest i have i wont, because i will get shit from someone like you. i dont care if anybody even reads what i wrote. but apparently i cant do that in peace cause i got u sayin i think im important cause i did that. whatever. i"ll say what i want about anything.

  • @chris8889ify That's perfectly fine as long as you don't start repeating yourself... by the way did you say you are only 18 or are you a different age? That point wasn't clear from your first comment, please clarify. And hey guess what check out @shanelleharvey's and @MiddleMadMen's comments while you are thinking of your answer.

  • omg this song is by far A M A Z I N G (:

  • this is art.........

  • MY MOMS FAVORITE SONG.RIP MOM

  • I have the original 78 RPM record but I don't like to play it. With your post I get to listen without taking a chance of something happening to the old breakable record. Thank you for the post.

  • Grand Ole Opry REINSTATE HANK WILLIAMS!!!

  • I was raised on 3 different generations of music & sooooo thankful for it! From the first time I remember hearing this I was taken by it. It's another one of those that should have never been touched by another artist. BTW just a tidbit of information... Have always hear that The Eagles song 7 Bridges Road is about Hanks burial place. I was told you have to cross 7 bridges to get to it. I can't prove it but a cool story nonetheless!!!

  • @McBeck1960 Damn right! I still remember mom washing outside in the yard listening to Brenda Lee, then Dad would turn the radio and swing with Bill Haley and his comets... ...

Still... music is just the scent of life...

  • I've never seen a night so long That time goes crawlin' by...the moon just hid behind a cloud to hide her face and cry... That means he's lost the will to live, I'm so lonesome I could cry... If one person feels just one of these things he's overwhelmed, and how many did Hank number?

  • My grandmother made us all listen to this song!!!!! OoOoh, Alabama days......I understand now ♥ ♥ ♥

  • This is one of the greatest songs ever. I almost cry every time i listen to it. And this is coming from a hard core classic rock guy.

  • 20 People should be punched in the face... I'm just sayin'...
