Name of a tree that contains all 5 vowels. I bet i've never even heard of that tree. That question has almost nothing to do with intelligence and everything to do with knowledge and memory.
@DraginGaming SEQUOIA! Have you heard about it? It took me 30 seconds, without dictionary, and my mother's tongue isn't even close to English. In my opinion it's a kind of subconscious processing that's involved, with minimum general knowledge required (but, I agree, nevertheless knowledge). Not to brag, but in school I used to solve problems that required min. or general knowledge faster than my schoolmates. Fe. I recognized Arnold and Lincoln in 2 mosaics instantly, and everybody
@mujotomi else also knew how they looked like. Or when I won Wheel of Fortune. In 2nd round I guessed motto consisted of 3 longer words in which only 3 insignificant letters were turned. In main prize round I guessed motto before TV camera started (just by knowing a clue)-the host asked me if I have a clue what the motto could be, and I told him-he just laughed. When I took official IQ test, I had a similar feeling at least at some items-feeling that only right idea has to be generated.
@mujotomi Of course one can argue if knowing what somebody wants to say after few words spoken is a sign of intelligence or not. Without perception of "facts" and formation of "knowledge", the memory function that is, certain mental manipulations, it's useless to talk about intelligence in the first place.
@mujotomi I agree it requires strong processing and thinking skills. When it came to puzzles I was always faster than my classmates too, but it was public school for me, so thats not even slightly impressive considering the competition. But judging someones IQ partly off of knowledge is unfair. I took the Mensa quiz thing online, one of the ones i missed was an unscramble the letters question. When i saw the answer at the end i had never seen the word before. I wasnt stupid, i was ignorant.
@DraginGaming I agree it's unfair. I think it's practically impossible to construct knowledge (and other "irrelevant" factors)-free IQ test, that is the test that would put all testees in "equal position". It looks like test authors are deciding what is common knowledge, and maybe even think that very intelligent people should know some odd words too. Also sometimes you can't grab info you can at other times. I believe IQ testing is unnecessary, profitable and a manipulation tool.
@mujotomi And i would never be able to spell Sequoia, it's worthless knowledge to me, especially growing up in the tech age where my phone has a spell check and a dictionary. That's probably a problem with our generation(90's baby), but spelling has little to do with IQ.
@DraginGaming Yes, you brought up important problem. One that doesn't mind spelling and sentence structure can on the other hand possibly comprehand clumsy statements, which can be problematic for "spelling able". Maybe I'm wrong, but I might even argue that spelling can have an influence at least a bit on IQ score, by training concentration, visualization, immediate attention span, and maybe processing speed.
@mujotomi Spelling most definitely has an influence on IQ. To what extent of an influence is the question. I've met a lot of people who were bad spellers but good critical thinkers and fairly intelligent. This argument could be used for anything. A lot of math geniuses are very poor in language and the more social aspects of education like history or philosophy etc. But they're amazing when it comes to numbers. I guess i'm proving you right on a lot of this lol
@buhramyou If I may correct you: he said "mexican slang", not language. And supposedly it's true that terms "mensa" and "menso" are spoken only in Mexican Spanish as slang terms.
@mujotomi i was aware of that chap, i just wanted to make it clear that Mexican is not a language you would be surprised how many people mistake mexican as a language :)
@buhramyou Yes, I agree with that... I had a feeling that if he knows about those words being a Mexican slang, he'd also know about Mexican isn't a language, but as you hinted, you never know.
I knew a woman who was a member of Mesa years ago, I will never forget that argument we had. In a conversation we were having about languages, she told me that Arabic was a Slavic language and Czech was a "Cryllic" language. I respectfully corrected her and told her that Arabic was a Semitic language and Czech is a Slavic language. She was furious and so sure of herself that she almost came to the point of calling me names. She was also very fat. Physical health doesn't seem important.
I'm an ex member of Mensa Portugal (if they ever will officially stand alone apart from Mensa International) and sadly you do find many self centered people in Mensa. People who think cultural knowledge is the basis of everything and abstract intelligence is as important as nothing. I wouldn't judge them, these people can get pretty defensive because of numerous accusations, but in short, yes you do find a lot of "circle jerk" people there.
This is how I know that you can have a high IQ and still be fucking retarded. If you really want to prove that you're smart get a goddamn Ph.D. All of these self-satisfied "geniuses" make me want to vomit.
hahahahaha oh humanity, you are so funny. these extrovered obnoxious fat pieces of american shit actually think they're smart because they scored high on a certain test. talk about unwarranted self-importance!!!
Oh, and as another proof of you feeling really bad (frustrated) about your defeat is your (or your alter ego's or maybe your helping hand's) spamming under YouTube service email 2 days ago. If that was really you (or someone feels really sorry for you), I'd say how pathetic is that? And I'd also say: poor guy (whoever you are), it must have hurt really bad- a word of advice: next time you rather see your therapist. And also who's 14 (or 5) years old now, huh?
And when you repeat these kind of opinions over and over, "You made a mistake, I politely corrected you, you insulted me...", delusionally portraying yourself the "good guy" - you should seriously consider who you're trying to brainwash with this kind of propaganda, me or you? I don't need your propaganda, it doesn't serve me any; I simply reject cold, old tea. But there's another person in this virtual room, and I believe he enjoys eating his own crap.
@somedump I'm repeating myself over and over? Who repeated that troll, Dunning-Kruger? It was the same kind of response that made you say "ih8makinusernames" he's stuck and can't argue himself out of it. Aren't we honest, huh. You practically confirmed that you're stuck and can't argue yourself out of it. And you seem to know much about brainwashing (you mentioned it to "ih8makinusernames"). That's suspicious. I knew you have split-personality (another person in virtual room is your alter ego).
Who repeated "that"? Well, you did. Who's said 'Dunning-Kruger' twice? I did, yes. Saying a thing twice isn't repeating over and over, it's simply "repeating once".
I've said that ih8makinusernames is stuck and can't argue himself out of it?
And about "can't argue oneself out of it": communication requires two parts with a shared protocol. Learn basic networking.
One who has an alter ego doesn't necessarily have a split personality... Fail more+++
@somedump Haha, you like to stab yourself, huh. To "ih8makinusernames" you said "all day long", and I guess to you it means repeating it once. And where did I repeat my statement (fact not opinion) which proves your indignity more than once? Go and read what you've said to him, and don't preach to me about communication which is unknown to you. I said I KNEW you have split-personality and identified you alter ego (as another proof), not vice versa. Learn to read (about that disorder too).
And what I mean by "a shared protocol" is that it requires a minimum level of meta-cognitive skills; again about Dunning-kruger, which is obviously the issue we have at hand here -- they must both be able to realize what the other is saying. I understand everything you're saying, it just doesn't contain anything except poor attempts of fabricated ad hominem. It is too obvious that you only understand some parts, and then attempt to criticize those parts out of context.
@somedump You're reproaching me with my findings about you (ad hominem, not understanding), despicable trait this is. You didn't prove (though I summoned you) you understand everything I'm saying. So about my "wrong assumption" I'll give you another chance: "you made it by criticizing me based on an assumption." 1) Your "argument" is circular. In it you have 3 events in this sequence: 1. my alleged assumption 2. my criticism (supp. based on 1.) that produced-> 3. the same event No.1.
@mujotomi C1...2) I said: "At first I really didn’t know if you made an error because of faulty memory, wrong calculation, or faulty chart". You could’ve also missed the corresponding IQ, but it doesn’t matter. So I knew (a fact for me; assumption would be if I chose 1) you made it somehow (sorry I’m not clairvoyant). My criticism was based upon a fact, not assumption. This fact is that you made a mistake even before my first reply, and didn’t check...You commented on Anon’s claim
@mujotomi C2...and didn’t bother to check anyhow (by comparing different charts, calculating with calculator if you can’t do it in your head; you later confirmed you didn’t check it: "I just realized by double-checking the percentile"), how he could make that claim about “getting intimidating”, but even after my reply you rather said…Whatever was the reason of your mistake my summon to check those IQ-percentile charts (or your "facts") for the 1st time
@mujotomi C3...was appropriate (it excluded any assumption). I didn’t assume you never saw a chart. The fact is you didn’t check it. Even if you saw IQ-percentile chart, you later implied you didn’t use it when you searched for IQ (or you wouldn’t have to calculate rarity), let alone checked it. This shows that you rather presume other people’s error than your own. In the dictionary you can find many words that describe such a person, and dignified isn’t one of them.
We done, honey. Your Engrish and arguments are just getting worse and its validity decreasing to the point of or beyond 0, so this is simply a waste of time. Only thing you have is stubbornness: you just _have_ to have the last word, regardless of how wrong you are or how little you understand, even if you actually acknowledge this, you obviously won't acknowledge it publicly anyway, and just keep fighting like a child (keywords: uneducated & stubborn) to have the last word. Adios.
@somedump My English (Is this an argument concerning this debate? Yes, it's called ad hominem.)? Just look at yours ("We done"; ARE and ITS in the same sentence, just f.e.). My arguments getting worse? Prove it (I proved you wrong every time, but you proved you didn't (want to) understand it). I proved yours to be a prototype of ad hominem and ad nauseam. I understood everything in this debate, not you-I even gave you a 2nd explanation (for dummies), but you still don't (want to) understand it.
@somedump Did I spam you? No, you tried to spam me, and it speaks volumes (who's childish now, sir?). It's only natural that you say "Adios", since you didn't actually write anything regarding a "main theme" in most of your posts. And remember my suggestion about neutral opinion (intelligent people will laugh at your reasoning skills). And learn to calculate-I did it even before going to primary school (before age of 6, that is), so it's despicable that because of your ignorance I'm "wrong".
And you're the one without any dignity (remember Ad hominem and Ad nauseam?). You made a mistake, I politely corrected you, you insulted me, and you declared me stupid, insane etc. Learn how to read, and then come and fight with bigger guys. Till now you haven't refuted even 1 or argument I posed. I on the other hand refuted all your babbling. Seriously, you should try to seek an opinion of competent neutral person. That goes for your Dunning-Kruger effect too.
naah so dumb and so cheap... for me it looks like, the guys are suffering from attitude problem. If you ask me, solving aptitude is the measure of IQ then US Avg. IQ will be 120 (over internet std. test). and I guess w.r.t. that Mensa should make cut off score to 156.. or at least. 110 - 143!!
Now, if you excuse me, I'll go to sleep (no, sorry I won't dream about you), it's 1AM where I live...But you, you just take your time to chew upon mistakes you've made, I won't mind at all. We'll see if you'll argue yourself out of this, as a typical Mensan, or you'll rather resort to repeating like the other guy you argued.
C4...For you I should’ve been more explicit and wrote “2SD not 1”, but it’s clear that I acknowledged you “used” 1SD instead of 2. And how come then that you didn't summon me to find my "mistake" (that it's in "fact" 1 in 1k, not 1 in 10k rarity), but rather implied I used invented SD? So all told, it’s not ironic (you didn’t prove I’m more quarrelsome than intelligent).
Does it hurt now? I'll even help you identify your insults: "What a joke", you implied I'm insane. Troublesome? Projection!
C3...At the top Google search-hits there are more charts which have marked percentiles and/or % (in this case 99.99% and/or 0.01%) than charts which don’t => you don’t have to calculate. Also you avoid error which can occur if using just 1 chart that happens to be faulty. I know of such chart (IQ-chart and societies), which renders wrong IQ only if you look just in the column marked with % and find respective IQ (135 at 0.01%). Also I wrote: “difference…is 30 points-that is 2SD”.
C2...You did (do you feel being like that?). I just needed to state facts and summoned you to verify your claims. When I said "check for the 1st time THOSE IQ-percentile chartS " I meant:
1. Charts that have percentiles (not % of those who are better than you-0.01% in this case).
2. Use more charts (I didn’t mean that you’ve never seen the chart before).
C1...up SD25 and 30, and he still doesn’t suspect he (or his chart) might be wrong, but rather resorts to insults. With it (+ others from that message) I also tried to feign ignorance just to see if you’ll want to drag me down with you (or “argue yourself out of it”). I had a hunch you’ll try.
That’s why (regarding quarrelsomeness also because of your previous correspondence) I wrote “you're much more quarrelsome than intelligent”. I didn’t use words “not intelligent”.
At first I really didn’t know if you made an error because of faulty memory, wrong calculation, or faulty chart, but I couldn’t care less back then. I knew you thought that I thought SD is app. 25 or even 30. Where on earth would I come to these numbers? I don’t make them up (I presumed neither do you), that’s why I wrote “sources”.
So, with “It's still a mistery to me…” I wanted to say that I don’t know how (from vanity or fixed thoughts?) some Mensan can think that I can just make...
I have nothing against these but the top 2%...the top 0.01 is not real, its all based on statistical nonsense invented by Europeans to boast of intellectual superiority where there was none--be smarter than the Mensans and do not believe in the IQ hoax...
these questions are stupid, u might have to worlds highest IQ in the world and not know the amount of leaves on fucking poison ivy.. its to do with knowledge, if u were just given numbers any retard cud give the answers
2% is not special at all.. Mensa never claimed to be an elite organization. It's just a way to communicate, invest some of your free time or just challenge yourself.
I also think that the people in the video do show off (nothing like the actually members)
I'm a member of Greek Mensa and i really feel bad when people say things like "world biggest circle jerk". Some members do show off but most of Mensa members (including me) are easy going people that just want to meet other people who probably have the same interests, go to gatherings and invest some of their time or even see the test as something personal. So don't judge people so easy and so hard. The sad thing is that you also have 14 thumbs up. It's ok
I took the Mensa test and I was qualified :D but then i have to travel to Spain to apply to the next step... i guess in 5 years i'll be able to do that...
@JordanPAT Well, I wouldn't love a dictator unconditionally, but I do agree that a good heart is where it's at. And I certainly agree with your hint that we would all get along better if we pooled our resources to solve the world's biggest problems. And finally, I for one have quit eating red meat. But I wonder if eating poultry is any better? Perhaps you can enlighten me on this.
@MichaelS3352 For some enlightenment, read "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer, "The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight" by Thom Hartmann, "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell and watch the documentary called "MEAT THE TRUTH" which can be found on Youtube. Hope that helps.
@generation1313 Well, they're not worthless, but IQ is not really fixed at birth. Enter the concept of neuroplasticity. That's right--you can increase your IQ! I guess the upshot is that IQ tests have to be taken with a grain of salt, and not used as the sole indicator of intelligence. If you score relatively low, but can talk a blue streak about really complex ideas using an enormous vocabulary with ease, well, there's something wrong with whatever is being used to evaluate you.
@AnonHateMachine the top 2 percent is the pretty good.... if you closed the mensa club to the top .01 percent you would only have a couple hundred members
The IQ difference between the 2% and an average person (50%) is 30 points, and the difference between the 2% person and the 0.01% person is about 15. You can only argue that it "gets intimidating" at that point because he's slightly more smarter, somehow breaching your exact line of where something extraordinary lies, or just purely based on percentage. The actual intellectual difference however is less significant.
What a joke- what deviation is used is not the point (and has no relevance). Say we're using SD 24 (I believe the highest deviation made/used by a sane person anyway), the difference between a 0.01% person and a 2% person is 24points. The difference between an average person and a 2% person is 46 points. Still almost twice the amount, and it will remain that way no matter what deviation used. And there's no known alternative IQ-rarity statistics if that's what you're trying to argue.
@somedump It's a joke for you, but not for me though - I can see now that you're much more quarrelsome than intelligent, otherwise you'd check your "facts" even before I replied you, let alone before you replied me. You see, from what you've written I concluded you used st.dev. 15, so I replied in this manner (using SD 15). Now check for the 1st time those IQ-percentile charts, and you'll see that the difference between top 0.01% and top 2% person is 30 points - that is 2 SD! Is that so hard?
@mujotomi And as a matter of fact, SD has relevance for at least layman when you're stating facts in your manner: diff. between 2% and 0.01% person is about 15 points... What has sanity with SD of the test? SD of the test depends on "accuracy" of the test. It's still a mistery to me where in my initial statement did you see my ignorance of concept/application of SD...
@mujotomi No, but I just realized by double-checking the percentile, that it's in fact a 1:10k rarity, not my assumed 1k, that is a 0.1% rarity or 146 IQ (<- that I knew already, obviously) :p So it's funny how you got the wrong assumption wrong, and still able to throw some 'quarrelsome' and 'not intelligent' claims out there. Slightly ironic :) Anyway, it's still "only" a doubling, so the difference is equal. The claim is more legitimate though; the 160-guy sure is scarier than the 130-guy.
All irrelevant: whether you acknowledged it, or "acknowledged" it or didn't, or whether you ate an apple for breakfast or not. Your assumption was wrong. If you mean to say that you didn't hold that assumption, that is obviously untrue: you made it by criticizing me based on an assumption. Theoretically in your mind whether you actually "held it" or just "played with it" is irrelevant: by conversations standards you held it - due to your statements that based themselves entirely on it.
@somedump OK I'll make it simpler: where in my statements did you see that I didn't recognize you made a mistake when calculated rarity of 1:1k instead of 1:10k? Please don't be cheeky, it can hurt you.
It's not simpler, it's just your second attempt at asking the question you wish to ask, whatever it actually is.
All your criticism has focused entirely on me "not having checked out the facts", how I haven't "looked at the table ever before", at pointing out what you believed the value at difference be without any following explanation or reasoning, and following all that with petty attempts of child-insults, "was that so hard?" It is you that obviously is the quarrel and troublesome.
@somedump So, you don't understand what I was asking you? Anyway, you gave me enough info for me to end this discussion in style. In case you didn't notice, I was playing a little game with you, using some feigning (some would call it Socratic irony). I prepared in advance an "explanation" for you, but bear with me, I have to copy/paste it etc.
@somedump "Dunning, kruger, troll, lol, lol, lol, fail." We'll see if you'll hold that as a truth, or as another projection of yours, when you'll be done with reading. But then again, the 2nd option is ruled out, because from most of what you've said till now, I have a strong reason to believe that Dunning-Kruger effect fits you perfectly. But believe me, it's a projection of yours all right!
@somedump Yes, sure I was using Google Translate, everybody knows it's the best tool for proper translating. That's why I had to "wait" for your replies. You could take it as a chapter (actually it's short for Continuation-learned person marks chapters at the beginning), yes, because you should regard my "treatise" as a manual for argumented debate, but then again, it's really a fail-treatise, because you just don't have what it takes to benefit from it-a minimum amount of intelligence... C1
@mujotomi C1...Maybe, just maybe it'll be of some help (I can see you can't handle elaborated messages, so I'd like to save you some time), if I direct you to read something about Argumentum ad Hominem, and I strongly suspect that Argumentum ad Nauseam (remeber the other guy?) is what follows. They're both at the top of your repertoire...Your emoticon doesn't fool me. It shows the opposite of what your words do. So laugh a bit more, if you can, and rather talk to your Messenger pals...
Fine, ok, here's the truth behind "my emoticons" (behind 'the mask', as someone who isn't using Google Translate would say): I feel kinda stuck with a troll here; I've tried to end the conversation quite early by humor and irony which gives you the opportunity to leave with "dignity". But instead you keep on replying like a ass-sore 14 years old, and I'm stuck between laughing (85%) and getting REALLY bored (15%). Your assumptions are ludicrous, and your conclusions' silly -- dead end.
@somedump You're kinda stuck, because your brain capacity doesn't allow you to comprehend what I'm saying, but since you're very cocky, you try to present yourself as a winner. Do try to read those "chapters" 7 times in a row (magic number that can fulfil wishes to understand something even to sublime idiots like you), and only than you should find a competent being to confirm that you're wrong in case magic failed. Any human with at least average intelligence would see your frustration.
My numerology is 7. My mom's numerology is 7 as well. My planet is Venus. I'm blue eyed and blond with curly hair (hint: spiraling spirituality). Thanks for more fail assumptions.
Congratulations on your first wise words: I should find a competent being for confirmation, hence excluding yourself from being competent. I have no frustration. This just isn't as very interesting anymore, so I'm getting tired/bored. All you do is reply in hope that you won't lose if you have the last word.
@somedump Any normal being would know I wanted to say exactly what I wrote later: "competent NEUTRAL person", hence I'm not excluding myself from being competent (only from neutral). And how can I confirm my own words? Only you (dishonest, stupid person) might try to do that. When someone like you doesn't "want" to believe my arguments and doesn't see the obvious, the only thing I can do is to propose him to find a competent neutral arbiter. I can save you some time by proposing you to ...C1
@mujotomi C1...contact some fellow Mensans (yeah, right) and don't tell them which one you are (hell, it's better to say you're not involved otherwise your Mensa career (yeah, right) will come to a shameful end), and we'll see how competent Mensans really are. Of course you're bored, since you don't understand anything. I didn't expect it to be any different-it's like expecting 2-year-old not to be bored with some academic stuff. ...C2
@mujotomi C2...Obviously you're the one who wants to have the last word, since you didn't show me any good argument yet. I know you want to build such a long correspondence with me, that nobody will bother to read your nonsense and get to know you (free advice: you better delete everything). Yes, your spirituality is in spiral dive (well, your nick tells it all- and not just in this sense), graveyard s.d. to be exact, and believe me you're very near to crash. Blond? Go figure. ...C3
@mujotomi C3...Why don't you go and watch the stars some more. Maybe they'll be good to you and confess they lied before. Venus? So that's the reason why you can't reason on Earth, and are acting like a girl.
@mujotomi C4...Your frustration is obvious-you're trying to disprove my arguments by searching mistakes in my statements which aren't in the realm of the debate which included those arguments anymore (fight is over pal, you were knocked out, and now you're just whining infront of the "press" and me, instead of addressing "official" person/s who'll tell you all about that KO;I know it won't suffice though). I told you to read about Argumentum ad Hominem/Nauseam, didn't I.
@somedump "Your assumption was wrong. If you mean to say that you didn't hold that assumption, that is obviously untrue: you made it by criticizing me based on an assumption. " And what was my assumption? If you knew how to read, you wouldn't have to look into my head and inventing my assumptions.
@somedump Having problems? If you know what my assumption was, certainly you can't have problems with naming it, and finding my words which reflect it.
Well, on the Schmies vocabulary test, i scored 170/200. Nope--don't use a thesaurus, and very rarely use a dictionary. But what's wrong with using these tools, anyway? You gotta learn somehow. No input, no output.
I like how most people commenting on this video try to use big words to prove how '"smart" they are. I bet over half of you using these big words are using a thesaurus. Besides, most of the words you guys are using qualifies as jargon.
I don't know if I'd be qualified for Mensa or not, I've never taken their test but I can tell you I would honestly never go within a hundred miles of one of those conventions. It's like the world biggest circle jerk.
@ih8makinusernames Yeah, I know--Mensans are not necessarily misanthropic, or maladjusted, or deviant in any way--but i've watched another youtube video like this, and they DO seem to put a high premium on genius (Mensans Seeking Mensans). I dunno--I mean, I have a tested iq of 138-145 (The two scores from psychologists), and the Mensa online workout=27/30. But membership? I will politely and respectfully decline; my taste in people is a lot broader than that. Circle jerk--exactly!
@ih8makinusernames well since there are 3 grammar mistakes in your comment, I know you wouldn't qualify for Mensa, so don't hurt your poor little brain thinking to hard about it :)
Tell yourself that; brainwash yourself to believe it without ever having spoken to one - that's the way to go, 'ignorance is bliss', the motto of the less. Rationalwiki: "Informing a non-member of a high IQ society that you are yourself a member of one will, in roughly 90% of the population, induce a state of temporary insanity. [...] will instantly begin spouting derogatory claims about membership of such societies, usually among the lines of being pretentious or boring", etc
? You mean "fucks that gives a shit: 0"? Why'd you even respond if you don't give a shit? Oh, wait, I get it, you don't count - being a nobody and all! Got it.
Oh, I'm sure you'd qualify for Mensa; we repeat statements all day long when we're stuck and can't argue ourselves out of it as well just like a 5 years old. Farewell misplaced person.
@somedump It's funny because I can say the same thing over and over and in return recieve a unique butthurt response from someone who has an obvious hard on for Mensa.
Oh yes, it's really funny; there's much grounds for the assumption that I'm buthurt, and it's just TOO original to repeat a statement over and over and expect annoyance in return. Truth is I just think you're silly (and I'm not buthurt at all), but I'm aware that other silly people like yourselves could crowd up and enjoy your kindergarten humor, so I'm making just the slightest effort to raise consciousness about this sillyness, hoping it might reach you _someday_.
Katy Perry is the smartest person in the world she writes her own music and sings perfectly and with her creative ideas I know she can make more creative music videos and music that's my opinion!!!!!
@jodoninja However, I must hasten to add that I.Q., it turns out now, is surprisingly malleable. Take heart! Smarts seem to be somewhat subject to improvement! Practice makes perfect, as the old saw goes.
Well, I certainly don't equate a high I.Q. with deviancy. But I don't necessarily equate it with a healthy brain, either. I view intelligence as essentially amoral--like electricity, it is only as good or bad as the posessor's innate character.
@jodoninja Yeah. I guess it's a way to make themselves feel better. They made it so that they could be openly proud of something that they have. A high IQ doesn't seem to be the right possession to be showcased on this way. This simply looks like a group of lonely dicks that feel superior because they are part of an "elite group."
@jodoninja Well, one thing i know is that jealousy and competitiveness, like i.q., are written into our DNA. It's like Browning's poem, "Ah that a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a Heaven for?" I also refer the reader to the film "Amadeus."
Wow, people just in the comments here do nothing but ridicule and bring these people down, and you WONDER why they have social problems. If it feels good to bring yourself up by tearing others down, have fun.
They say they have problems "socializing"...Even if I had a high IQ(sorry to insult the minds of higher intellectual capability gathered here) the last thing I would want to do is to socialize with a-holes like these.
And come on-IQ is based on the SPEED of percepting and processing(and in some cases-storing information on the fly-for calculations) information-it`s not based on testing certain knowledge, such as the "number of stars on the us flag in 1937" etc. That`s erudition-not brain speed.
Well, as I've said before, your vote is as good as mine (thank God). Do what you can in life, that's what I try to do. And, yes, MENSA, kind of repels me, too, as you may have gathered--I would never think of joining that group, and for the reasons you stated.. As for the whole idea of I.Q.--they're finding out now that THAT is like a muscle--the more you use it, the better it gets. Take heart, exercise your body and mind, and study hard. It will all do your brain good..
Come on guys don't fool yourselves. Do you honestly expect us to belive that a man of I.Q 130 plus has time to fool around on youtube? Do you expect me to belive that all 367 of you have I.Qs larger than 170? Come on, don't be so stupid. Evaluate the statistics. There should only be 1000 people in the world with such an I.Q, and do you honestly expect us to belive that a third of them commented on this?
hi---well, as for me, i make sure i have a little time for 1) gleaning stuff from the web and 2) exercise. And, although I do have a tested IQ somewhere in the 138-149 range (depending on mood, alertness, and various other factors), it is not above 170, or even nearly so.

Name of a tree that contains all 5 vowels. I bet i've never even heard of that tree. That question has almost nothing to do with intelligence and everything to do with knowledge and memory.
That's not IQ...
DraginGaming 1 week ago
@DraginGaming SEQUOIA! Have you heard about it? It took me 30 seconds, without dictionary, and my mother's tongue isn't even close to English. In my opinion it's a kind of subconscious processing that's involved, with minimum general knowledge required (but, I agree, nevertheless knowledge). Not to brag, but in school I used to solve problems that required min. or general knowledge faster than my schoolmates. Fe. I recognized Arnold and Lincoln in 2 mosaics instantly, and everybody
mujotomi 1 week ago
@mujotomi else also knew how they looked like. Or when I won Wheel of Fortune. In 2nd round I guessed motto consisted of 3 longer words in which only 3 insignificant letters were turned. In main prize round I guessed motto before TV camera started (just by knowing a clue)-the host asked me if I have a clue what the motto could be, and I told him-he just laughed. When I took official IQ test, I had a similar feeling at least at some items-feeling that only right idea has to be generated.
mujotomi 1 week ago
@mujotomi Of course one can argue if knowing what somebody wants to say after few words spoken is a sign of intelligence or not. Without perception of "facts" and formation of "knowledge", the memory function that is, certain mental manipulations, it's useless to talk about intelligence in the first place.
mujotomi 1 week ago
@mujotomi I agree it requires strong processing and thinking skills. When it came to puzzles I was always faster than my classmates too, but it was public school for me, so thats not even slightly impressive considering the competition. But judging someones IQ partly off of knowledge is unfair. I took the Mensa quiz thing online, one of the ones i missed was an unscramble the letters question. When i saw the answer at the end i had never seen the word before. I wasnt stupid, i was ignorant.
DraginGaming 1 week ago
@DraginGaming I agree it's unfair. I think it's practically impossible to construct knowledge (and other "irrelevant" factors)-free IQ test, that is the test that would put all testees in "equal position". It looks like test authors are deciding what is common knowledge, and maybe even think that very intelligent people should know some odd words too. Also sometimes you can't grab info you can at other times. I believe IQ testing is unnecessary, profitable and a manipulation tool.
mujotomi 1 week ago
@mujotomi And i would never be able to spell Sequoia, it's worthless knowledge to me, especially growing up in the tech age where my phone has a spell check and a dictionary. That's probably a problem with our generation(90's baby), but spelling has little to do with IQ.
DraginGaming 1 week ago
@DraginGaming Yes, you brought up important problem. One that doesn't mind spelling and sentence structure can on the other hand possibly comprehand clumsy statements, which can be problematic for "spelling able". Maybe I'm wrong, but I might even argue that spelling can have an influence at least a bit on IQ score, by training concentration, visualization, immediate attention span, and maybe processing speed.
mujotomi 1 week ago
@mujotomi Spelling most definitely has an influence on IQ. To what extent of an influence is the question. I've met a lot of people who were bad spellers but good critical thinkers and fairly intelligent. This argument could be used for anything. A lot of math geniuses are very poor in language and the more social aspects of education like history or philosophy etc. But they're amazing when it comes to numbers. I guess i'm proving you right on a lot of this lol

People who think cultural knowledge is the basis of everything and abstract intelligence is as important as nothing. But there's another person in this virtual room, and I believe he enjoys eating his own crap.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump I'm repeating myself over and over? Who repeated that troll, Dunning-Kruger? It was the same kind of response that made you say "ih8makinusernames" he's stuck and can't argue himself out of it. Aren't we honest, huh. You practically confirmed that you're stuck and can't argue yourself out of it. And you seem to know much about brainwashing (you mentioned it to "ih8makinusernames"). That's suspicious. I knew you have split-personality (another person in virtual room is your alter ego).
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi
I meant 'propaganda', not 'opinions'..
Fail more+++
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump Haha, you like to stab yourself, huh. To "ih8makinusernames" you said "all day long", and I guess to you it means repeating it once. And where did I repeat my statement (fact not opinion) which proves your indignity more than once? Go and read what you've said to him, and don't preach to me about communication which is unknown to you. I said I KNEW you have split-personality and identified you alter ego (as another proof), not vice versa. Learn to read (about that disorder too).

@mujotomi
It is too obvious that you only understand some parts, and then attempt to criticize those parts out of context.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump You're reproaching me with my findings about you (ad hominem, not understanding), despicable trait this is. You didn't prove (though I summoned you) you understand everything I'm saying. So about my "wrong assumption" I'll give you another chance: "you made it by criticizing me based on an assumption." 1) Your "argument" is circular. In it you have 3 events in this sequence: 1. my alleged assumption 2. my criticism (supp. based on 1.) that produced-> 3. the same event No.1.
...C1
mujotomi 3 months ago
@mujotomi C1...2) I said: "At first I really didn’t know if you made an error because of faulty memory, wrong calculation, or faulty chart". You could’ve also missed the corresponding IQ, but it doesn’t matter. So I knew (a fact for me; assumption would be if I chose 1) you made it somehow (sorry I’m not clairvoyant). My criticism was based upon a fact, not assumption. This fact is that you made a mistake even before my first reply, and didn’t check...You commented on Anon’s claim
...C2
mujotomi 3 months ago
@mujotomi C2...and didn’t bother to check anyhow (by comparing different charts, calculating with calculator if you can’t do it in your head; you later confirmed you didn’t check it: "I just realized by double-checking the percentile"), how he could make that claim about “getting intimidating”, but even after my reply you rather said…Whatever was the reason of your mistake my summon to check those IQ-percentile charts (or your "facts") for the 1st time
...C3
mujotomi 3 months ago
@mujotomi C3...was appropriate (it excluded any assumption). I didn’t assume you never saw a chart. The fact is you didn’t check it. Even if you saw IQ-percentile chart, you later implied you didn’t use it when you searched for IQ (or you wouldn’t have to calculate rarity), let alone checked it. This shows that you rather presume other people’s error than your own. In the dictionary you can find many words that describe such a person, and dignified isn’t one of them.
mujotomi 3 months ago
@mujotomi
Adios.
somedump 3 months ago
@somedump My English (Is this an argument concerning this debate? Yes, it's called ad hominem.)? Just look at yours ("We done"; ARE and ITS in the same sentence, just f.e.). My arguments getting worse? Prove it (I proved you wrong every time, but you proved you didn't (want to) understand it). I proved yours to be a prototype of ad hominem and ad nauseam. I understood everything in this debate, not you-I even gave you a 2nd explanation (for dummies), but you still don't (want to) understand it.

mujotomi 4 months ago
C4...For you I should’ve been more explicit and wrote “2SD not 1”, but it’s clear that I acknowledged you “used” 1SD instead of 2. And how come then that you didn't summon me to find my "mistake" (that it's in "fact" 1 in 1k, not 1 in 10k rarity), but rather implied I used invented SD? So all told, it’s not ironic (you didn’t prove I’m more quarrelsome than intelligent).
Does it hurt now? I'll even help you identify your insults: "What a joke", you implied I'm insane. Troublesome? Projection!
mujotomi 4 months ago
C3...At the top Google search-hits there are more charts which have marked percentiles and/or % (in this case 99.99% and/or 0.01%) than charts which don’t => you don’t have to calculate. Also you avoid error which can occur if using just 1 chart that happens to be faulty. I know of such chart (IQ-chart and societies), which renders wrong IQ only if you look just in the column marked with % and find respective IQ (135 at 0.01%). Also I wrote: “difference…is 30 points-that is 2SD”.
...C4
mujotomi 4 months ago
C2...You did (do you feel being like that?). I just needed to state facts and summoned you to verify your claims. When I said "check for the 1st time THOSE IQ-percentile chartS " I meant:
1. Charts that have percentiles (not % of those who are better than you-0.01% in this case).
2. Use more charts (I didn’t mean that you’ve never seen the chart before).
...C3
mujotomi 4 months ago
C1...up SD25 and 30, and he still doesn’t suspect he (or his chart) might be wrong, but rather resorts to insults. With it (+ others from that message) I also tried to feign ignorance just to see if you’ll want to drag me down with you (or “argue yourself out of it”). I had a hunch you’ll try.
That’s why (regarding quarrelsomeness also because of your previous correspondence) I wrote “you're much more quarrelsome than intelligent”. I didn’t use words “not intelligent”.

At first I really didn’t know if you made an error because of faulty memory, wrong calculation, or faulty chart, but I couldn’t care less back then. generation1313 11 months ago

@AnonHateMachine
Yet the IQ difference isn't that great.
The actual intellectual difference however is less significant.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump "the difference between the 2% person and the 0.01% person is about 15"
Not exactly. It's app. 25 points, by some sources even 30.
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi
And there's no known alternative IQ-rarity statistics if that's what you're trying to argue.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump It's a joke for you, but not for me though - I can see now that you're much more quarrelsome than intelligent, otherwise you'd check your "facts" even before I replied you, let alone before you replied me. You see, from what you've written I concluded you used st.dev. 15, so I replied in this manner (using SD 15). Now check for the 1st time those IQ-percentile charts, and you'll see that the difference between top 0.01% and top 2% person is 30 points - that is 2 SD! Is that so hard?
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi And as a matter of fact, SD has relevance for at least layman when you're stating facts in your manner: diff. between 2% and 0.01% person is about 15 points... What has sanity with SD of the test? SD of the test depends on "accuracy" of the test. It's still a mistery to me where in my initial statement did you see my ignorance of concept/application of SD...
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi No, but I just realized by double-checking the percentile, that it's in fact a 1:10k rarity, not my assumed 1k, that is a 0.1% rarity or 146 IQ (<- that I knew already, obviously) :p So it's funny how you got the wrong assumption wrong, and still able to throw some 'quarrelsome' and 'not intelligent' claims out there. Slightly ironic :) Anyway, it's still "only" a doubling, so the difference is equal. The claim is more legitimate though; the 160-guy sure is scarier than the 130-guy.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump And where did I "acknowledged" that I got your wrong assumption wrong?
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi Sorry, "acknowledge".
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi
You didn't acknowledge it.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump Did you consider the meaning of quotation marks?
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi
Theoretically in your mind whether you actually "held it" or just "played with it" is irrelevant: by conversations standards you held it - due to your statements that based themselves entirely on it.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump OK I'll make it simpler: where in my statements did you see that I didn't recognize you made a mistake when calculated rarity of 1:1k instead of 1:10k? Please don't be cheeky, it can hurt you.
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi
It's not simpler, it's just your second attempt at asking the question you wish to ask, whatever it actually is.
All your criticism has focused entirely on me "not having checked out the facts", how I haven't "looked at the table ever before", at pointing out what you believed the value at difference be without any following explanation or reasoning, and following all that with petty attempts of child-insults, "was that so hard?" It is you that obviously is the quarrel and troublesome.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump So, you don't understand what I was asking you? Anyway, you gave me enough info for me to end this discussion in style. Seven words: Dunning, kruger, troll, lol, lol, lol, fail.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump "Dunning, kruger, troll, lol, lol, lol, fail." We'll see if you'll hold that as a truth, or as another projection of yours, when you'll be done with reading. But then again, the 2nd option is ruled out, because from most of what you've said till now, I have a strong reason to believe that Dunning-Kruger effect fits you perfectly. But believe me, it's a projection of yours all right!

I LOLd at your fail-treatise/spam translated by Google Translate. Wtf is "C" short for anyway? Chapter? LOL. Made my day, thanks ^___^
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump Yes, sure I was using Google Translate, everybody knows it's the best tool for proper translating. That's why I had to "wait" for your replies. You could take it as a chapter (actually it's short for Continuation-learned person marks chapters at the beginning), yes, because you should regard my "treatise" as a manual for argumented debate, but then again, it's really a fail-treatise, because you just don't have what it takes to benefit from it-a minimum amount of intelligence... mujotomi 4 months ago
So laugh a bit more, if you can, and rather talk to your Messenger pals...
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi
Your assumptions are ludicrous, and your conclusions' silly -- dead end.
somedump 4 months ago

All you do is reply in hope that you won't lose if you have the last word.
somedump 4 months ago

I didn't expect it to be any different-it's like expecting 2-year-old not to be bored with some academic stuff. ...C2
mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi C2...Obviously you're the one who wants to have the last word, since you didn't show me any good argument yet. I know you want to build such a long correspondence with me, that nobody will bother to read your nonsense and get to know you (free advice: you better delete everything). Yes, your spirituality is in spiral dive (well, your nick tells it all- and not just in this sense), graveyard s.d. to be exact, and believe me you're very near to crash. Blond? Go figure. ...C3

mujotomi 4 months ago
@mujotomi C4...Your frustration is obvious-you're trying to disprove my arguments by searching mistakes in my statements which aren't in the realm of the debate which included those arguments anymore (fight is over pal, you were knocked out, and now you're just whining infront of the "press" and me, instead of addressing "official" person/s who'll tell you all about that KO;I know it won't suffice though). I told you to read about Argumentum ad Hominem/Nauseam, didn't I.
mujotomi 4 months ago
@somedump "Your assumption was wrong. If you mean to say that you didn't hold that assumption, that is obviously untrue: you made it by criticizing me based on an assumption. " And what was my assumption? If you knew how to read, you wouldn't have to look into my head and inventing my assumptions.
mujotomi 4 months ago
@somedump Having problems? If you know what my assumption was, certainly you can't have problems with naming it, and finding my words which reflect it.

Well, on the Schmies vocabulary test, i scored 170/200. Nope--don't use a thesaurus, and very rarely use a dictionary. But what's wrong with using these tools, anyway? You gotta learn somehow. No input, no output.
MichaelS3352 11 months ago
I like how most people commenting on this video try to use big words to prove how '"smart" they are. I bet over half of you using these big words are using a thesaurus. Besides, most of the words you guys are using qualifies as jargon.
mawazombalimbali 11 months ago
I don't know if I'd be qualified for Mensa or not, I've never taken their test but I can tell you I would honestly never go within a hundred miles of one of those conventions. It's like the world biggest circle jerk.
ih8makinusernames 11 months ago 21
@ih8makinusernames Yeah, I know--Mensans are not necessarily misanthropic, or maladjusted, or deviant in any way--but i've watched another youtube video like this, and they DO seem to put a high premium on genius (Mensans Seeking Mensans). I dunno--I mean, I have a tested iq of 138-145 (The two scores from psychologists), and the Mensa online workout=27/30. But membership? I will politely and respectfully decline; my taste in people is a lot broader than that. Circle jerk--exactly!
MichaelS3352 11 months ago
@ih8makinusernames Same here. I want to beat them all up for being such arrogant nerds. I'd love the see that one couple get beat up for being nerds.

Oh, I'm sure you'd qualify for Mensa; we repeat statements all day long when we're stuck and can't argue ourselves out of it as well just like a 5 years old. Farewell misplaced person.
somedump 4 months ago
@somedump It's funny because I can say the same thing over and over and in return recieve a unique butthurt response from someone who has an obvious hard on for Mensa.
ih8makinusernames 4 months ago
@ih8makinusernames

This simply looks like a group of lonely dicks that feel superior because they are part of an "elite group."
panamanian911 11 months ago
@panamanian911 After watching the video, it's become evident that this is a knowledge club, not a high IQ club.
panamanian911 11 months ago
@jodoninja Well, one thing i know is that jealousy and competitiveness, like i.q., are written into our DNA. It's like Browning's poem, "Ah that a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a Heaven for?" I also refer the reader to the film "Amadeus."

Wow, people just in the comments here do nothing but ridicule and bring these people down, and you WONDER why they have social problems. If it feels good to bring yourself up by tearing others down, have fun.
mjohns375 1 year ago
@mjohns375 you are totally right! Everyone needs to feel accepted, and the things people write here, isn't helping
nippe011 9 months ago
