Great video. It's hard to argue about putting Steve Perry up near the top, but what about Tony Harnell!?!? Is TNT a little to hard rock to be considered in this list?
My top 10: 1. Steve Lukather, Toto 2. Freddy Mercury, Queen 3. Joey Tempest, Europe 4. Klaus Meine, Scorpions 5. Dave Coverdale, Whitesnake 6. Gary Moore 7. Joe Lynn Turner, Rainbow 8. Steve Perry, Journey 9. Jeff Scott Soto, Talisman 10. Ann Wilson, Heart
In my opinion .. mr Waite didn't sound his best on just that recording you showed, and the singer of Steelheart I would have taken out for Steve Whiteman anytime.
I enjoyed the list, but, BUT, there can never be anyone but Steve Perry for me! Everyone else fails to compare. SP is on a list so elite that no one else can ever be on it but HIM!
I've never liked Matijevic much. He's about as emotive as a tea kettle. The others are great. Most of your top 10 coincides with my preferences though I seem to be one of only a handful of melodic rock fans who would not rate Steve P. above everyone else.
Great list Perry has to be numero uno , alyhough there are still people in this country who have never heard of him!!!! I personally like mike tramp, kevin Chalfont and dont laugh but some earlt michael Bolton albums....
@royseahawks Early Michael Bolton albums are no laughing matter. 'Everybody's Crazy' puts all of his later albums aimed at the 'Desperate Housewives' crowd to shame.
@troynew2006 Phew thought i was losing my street cred then!!! looking to get into some new bands this year as i have decided that i cant just keep going to see old 80s melodic rock bands............ then again they all seem to be touring again so what the hell.
Would take some time to come up with my Top 10, but there is no doubt in my mind The Voice would be #1 as well. And major props for including Jeff Scott Soto!
Too hard to make a top 10, it is taste and perception from each individual. However, if you couldnt find a spot for Freddie Mercury there is something wrong i reckon.
Others include Freddie Mercury,Lou Gramm( Foreigner), David lee Roth( himself), Paul Stanley( kiss), and many others in my collection.
Man, anyone with ears must agree with this list... just one little note, I think u r mixing a little bit AOR with glam ballads (Alias, JSS, Turner...)... so I m gonna suggest you some bands and I hope you enjoy them: Blanc Faces, Bad 4 Good, Pride of Lions, Allen Lande...
I found it hard to argue any of these top 10, maybe the order because im a fan of one or the other more but this is a well done list. The videos were interesting to watch and you didnt pick the most obvious songs and that was appreciated. I need to become a fan of FM, under the radar and i've never given them a chance.
Although I have allways loved Steve Perry, Mark/Marcie Free is a versitile singer who has just started to show the talent that will put her over the top!!!
Super stuff.....all of em....practically speaking not very possible to put out a list ike this.Theres Terry Brock.....James Christian...Lou Gramm......Johnny Edwards....too many names! But thankx :-)
good list but WHERE THE HELL IS TERRY BROCK???!!!!!! /o.O/ besides wheres Glenn Hughes, Tony Mills and Ray Gillen? (ok he was singing in only four songs at Phenomenas's Dream Runner but they were magnificent)
@jhazpie Both Mike (he is my favourite singer) & Klaus are great singers but they are not members of AOR bands.Maybe that's the reason Klaus isn't mentioned here and I think that Mike should not mentioned too.It would be a great idea for another video to be created containing the best Hard Rock/Hair Metal singers.
@Kallimahos Really i guess Mike is here at number 3..I said he should be number 1 and steve at 2..yes im sorry Klause is a Hard rock I just realised..thank u

I consider Steelheart late hair metal rather than AOR. I would have taken him out and inserted Chris Ousey. Other than that list is pretty good.

Very good choices, can't argue with the singers selected, maybe have some of them in different order, but that's down to the listeners taste.
Personally Steve Overland runs Mr Perry very close............
