What happened to Maher Arar is extremely extremely unfortunate and a shocking indictment of the many excesses of the Bush administration in terms of dealing with a genuine threat of terrorism. Maher Arar seems to be a decent man and if there was any evidence of any wrongdoing on his part he should have been tried within the framework of the law instead of being tortured in a manner that was totally outside the scope of the legal system.

The US still keeps Arar on it's 'watch list' and he is barred from US travel.

That made it easy for the courts there to dismiss his suit under guize of "national security" concerns.

No apology from the US...No court case.
