  • Very nice!!

  • great pianist

    I really like your Style

this one and cantalupe is my favorite ;)

    ciao

    max

  • is there any chance this song could be more groovy xD

    So so cool !

  • tasty

  • I love cocktail music!

  • What patch on the Nord Electro were you using? Did you do any tweaking on that one? Also, Did you use the Nord Electro 1 or 2.

  • @GospelMusicians Mark1 w flat EQ and a bit of overdrive. It's a NE2.

  • Mike, I feel like stunnedf by a horse and want to stop piano playing for ever. How come we´ve never heard of you over here in Germany. They should print full-size posters of YOU instead of all those other mediocre guys. Your canta Island version is my special favourite. I´ve seen Herbie improvising solo on the Leno show. He is not better. How can you make that digital thing sound so natural? Please, give us more of your art here on youtube.

(Afraid this sounds too exaggerated to everybody else)

  • how did you get it to sound like an old rhodes? is that just the recording with the slight distortion or are you using effects. I hear a little delay maybe some overdrive?

  • @tyleryesta1 The OD is coming from the Nord - apart from that, just a touch of reverb.

  • very very nice!!!!

  • Great. Bur its not just the Norg Electro but the player....

  • not bad dude. it was great. :)

  • great playing! If I may ask, what hardware are you using for your backing track?

  • @timlim21 No hardware, it's an MP3.

  • That Wurly sound is right for jazz music. Really sounds good. Ineed to learn some of those runs, really amazing.

  • dude your feel of time is so amazing!

i'm loving the licks too!!! I hope to get an awesome lick vocabulary like you someday.

  • @anthonysimeon Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Man, I just LOVE to play my bass lines to these changes. Outstanding!

  • @hanzabass :)

  • love it! great!!!!!!!!

  • great

  • wow wow wow!! very nice!!!

  • Excellent work, man.

voicing and improvvisation are on top.

  • the bass and the drum how have you recorded?

    Great video

  • Very nice playing! Great work

  • What's the little module you have set up there? Is it like a mixer for the multiple keyboards? Are you using it for effects?

  • Thanks for the positive comments guys!

  • Some of the nicest playing I've seen on Youtube!

  • nice playing!!!!

  • i love it

  • Beautiful! Now I have to get a Nord!

  • @Vitamine101 Tell them you saw me online. Maybe I'll get an endorsement!!! :D

  • @groovatious If the occasion presents itself, will do! You play like you've listened to Winton Kelly and Miles -- and a few other keyboard technocrats. Good stuff!

  • excellent performance, keep it up.

  • Time to get my scales back. Thanks for the inspiration. Also I think I'm selling my keys to get a Nord... that's the coolest thing I've ever heard.

  • Thanks mate - let Clavia/Nord know - maybe they'll give me an endorsement deal ;)

  • Man, that was cool. Keep grooving...

  • Love your music. Would you mind sharing how you did the changes between 1:43 - 1:45. Thanks.

  • excellent

  • Incredible!! Thanks, for your music!!

  • perfect performs..

  • Hey man, How do you record the Audio? Just with the camera?

  • Hey man - the audio for this was just recorded straight into a PC sound card.

  • @groovatious

Laptop? You can hear the digital whine in the backround, but it does not level out the cool.

  • does jamie abersold really work?

  • It's a good practice tool if you can't play with other musicians often.

  • Killin'. Keep it up.

  • I LOVE YOUR PLAYING... U make me warm and bubbly inside...I LLLOOOOVVVVEEE your playing!!!!

  • You're too kind!!! :D

  • Truth in music says..this is good...real good!

  • So good.

    MOAR!

  • you dont need me to say it, but man, your phrasing is really good. really, really, really good. are you a session player, or play just for hobby?

  • Where did you learn how to play like that?

  • U do a decent solo !

Now, would u mind to give the solo

away to a sax or bass ? Seems so lonely

to make it on ur own ...

    Respect for ur technics

U play the best Rhodes klone since ever..

  • I'm playing along to a pre-recorded backing track mate!!

  • Don't be shy, you can intimidate that backing track... :P

  • I love your feel soloing, i gotta ask man what is the move you do at 4mins 11 i've heard people do it and i jus cant seem to figure it out.

  • great. would love to jam with you (have the nord stage) . its hard to find good players in germany.

  • Cool mate, the Nord Stage is very nice. I thought there were a lot of good jazz players in Germany?

  • do you use the Ion much?, you should put up a vid, i bet its feeling quite lonely!

it's a "synthy" synth so i can see why you dont gig with it,no needs for analog bass and pads for Jazz lol

  • I use the ION for my funk stuff, but haven't gigged with it yet. It's heaps of fun, but I don't use it as much as I should - am looking at selling it actually.

  • Great playing. Just bought a Nord Electro. Lovin it. I posted a few videos playing the Nord as well.

  • Thanks man, will check your vids out.

  • what is that box on your keys. Is that bass coming from the Nord, I notice some sequencing is going on. I am much older than you, I am converted B-3 player, currently I use a 76 Fantom X Rland, Pro PaI Pro Piano, and Yamaha Motif Es 76, Ihad a Cx-3 Korg organ and trade it for the Yamaha stupid move on my part. Please advise.

  • Hey man, the box is a Behringer multi effects box - I use it for reverbs/delays. The bass and drums are coming from a backing track. Cheers!

  • just wondering what that box is called, I'm interested?

  • FX Box is a Behringer FEX800 Multi FX Box.

  • I was going to invest inhte Nord keys, however the salesman himself said they were durable for road, home amd home studio excellent, use on the road very fragile, I love the Nord, I am afraid to invest I am weekend musician

  • I think it's a very durable instrument. Just be careful of the real-wood endcaps, but it's all very solid. Get the soft case for it and you're set!

  • This was awesome!

  • Thank you for the postive comments!

  • dang dude!!! I've seen a couple of your videos!! and it's awesome that there is still some JAZZ being played out in the world!! your good man, keep it up!!

  • Wow man I've been listening to all your videos and you have such a groove...I'ts impossible. Like a previous commenter said, the only drawback is the digital musicians not following your lead :P

  • can you please explain what the hell do you do with your left hand?

does the song has determinated chords or you just improvise them?

you play reeal good bro congratulations

  • Hey man, well, being a jazz tune, there are 'guideline' chord changes for the tune (have a look at a jazz lead sheet or real/fakebook for example). I'm basically taking those chords and adding/extending/substituting chords along the way.

  • The only problem you run into is the digital people playing bass and drums not following your energy

  • Haha..True. I plan to upload some vids of my trio soon. Much better with LIVE players!

  • Excellent work! I'm looking into buying an Electro myself. Is that the 73 key version? I've had a few concerns that it's not big enough. I don't want the Stage 88 because of the price and the hammerweights on the organ and the synth apparently isn't that great. As an improviser, have you ever found only 73 keys to be an issue?

  • Only when I'm attempting those Oscar Peterson-ish double octave runs!

But in all honesty, most of the time it's not an issue. The portability more than makes up for it.

  • My thoughts too - portability is what favours this over a rack and 88 key controller

  • Exactly.

  • Your Time is pure Jazz !!! heheheehe I can listen you all the day long !!! Great again ...

    {} Jeff

  • Cheers mate.

  • You do the Electro MUCH justice! NICE!

  • Thanks!

  • sounds like a pro

  • he's

  • Great playing mate, some really nice ideas. I,m thinking of getting a Electro 2 Rack, would you recomend?

  • Thanks mate. I personally like the electro. I haven't used the rack, but it's basically the same as the kb version, minus the kb. Just make sure the controller you're planning to use with it has decent velocity settings.

  • Congratulations!!!

    amazing!! Thanks!!

    You play so good....

  • Thanks mate.

Yes, this is a Nord Electro 2 73. The little silver box is a Multi FX unit made by Behringer. I'm using it for a little reverb on the Rhodes.

  • Wow! Such a fine feel for this fine tune. What a tastey performance. Thanks for the

    lift....

  • Great feel.

  • no ground buz on youtube :)

    very talented :)

  • ha... nice.

  • Wonderful playing, you have such a good taste

  • This is great! So laid back. Your lines are awesome.
