Hello again! Thank you so much for the great advice! My fishies love the spinach and bananas and have stopped uprooting the plants and tearing them up. They take a little nibble every now and then, but nothing that I wouldn't have trimmed off in a regular plant grooming anyway.
@coolecoolcool No it's not the same fish. I found Sachi in a cart in the parking lot of walmart. Some one "apparently" bought her and then forgot her as they were loading up their car. Amaya was the black moor from the other video. She was adopted out to a nice lady who spoils her rotten. ^_^ I try to avoid the pet section of my local walmart when ever I can b/c I just get sick looking at all the death and disease.
@emz33 I think I have around $300 invested in this set up alone. A cost effective way to get a bigger set up would be to check the pet section of your local craigs list for second hand tanks. Not long ago I bought a complete 55gallon set up(included , lights, filters, heater, tank and stand) for $30. There was nothing wrong with any of the equipment he was just trying to get rid of it so he wouldn't have to move across country with it.
You have such beautiful tanks!!! How do you keep the goldfish from destroying your plants? It seems like a major goal in the lives of my goldfish is to uproot and shred every plant I put in their tank. Any suggestions on how I can prevent this behavior?
@Nekokohime They are probably tearing up your plants b/c they aren't getting something they need in the diet you feed them. What do you feed them dear?
@Nekokohime Tetra products are actually kind of crummy. It would be like you eating nothing but fast food all the time. Much like people, goldfish need a varied diet. Fancy goldies do best on a mostly veggie diet giving meaty food at most 3 times a week depending on what you want out of your fish. If you start introducing your fish to things like peas, oranges, spinach, and bananas for starters they will probably stop bothering your plants.
Thank you! I'll give that a try. I had a tadpole for a while and was feeding him spinach and they gobbled it up too, so I know I can definitely get them to eat that. I have some oranges in the fridge right now as well ^_^
you tank looks Awesome , your goldfsh looks great as all of your fishes ... that blue panda telescope is pretty ! you red ryukin looks nice too with that small white patch on his side , what you feed them ?
@jenruchito76 These guys eat a homemade gel food made of Pro Gold from goldfish connection and organic baby foods as a staple diet. They also get fresh fruits and once every two weeks I give them live brines from my own colony. That Ryukin is the one that Nickie gave me a couple of years ago. It sure has changed and grown alot! I need to send her a link to this video.

@chanoychon23 I grind it up in a coffee grinder. This makes it a consistency like coarse dust which mixes more smoothly for a gel food
