we are not even sure exactly how much space an atom has. On top of that, one atom is so small and insignificant, that of course it can make up a solid object. Imagine those toy balls u play with as a kid in those indoor playgrounds. One of this is soft and delicate and filled with air. You don't have to witness it falling for it have fallen. If I pass by a fallen tree, it fell before I even discovered it. That is how our bodies work. We receive certain messages in certain ways.
