I have one other question. Many of my colonial Quaker ancestors were also Revolutionary War soldiers. Is this a conflict? Something was mentioned in the family "lore" about combat and war being okay for Quakers as long as it is with the objective of good, right, and peace. Are there differences of opinion among Quakers, or is this set in stone? I am very interestedk, after seeing your videos. Thank you.
The Quaker man's hat became iconic because George Fox refused to remove his when he stood before a judge in court. He was jailed for this, along with his refusal to swear (instead of merely state) that he did not conspire against the state.
I do not know how long the hat became a part of male plain dress. Do you know?
I keep forgetting things....like "you" was to be used in speaking to someone "superior", as a sign of respect, but Friends generally don't use titles, the "you" of respect :Mr., Mrs", but the "thee" of equality. Instead of addressing someone as Mr. Brown, one would today use their full name, "john Brown". Example, "Good day to thee, John Brown."

Three questions:
1-Why did people throw stones at Quakers?
2-What are the major differences between Quakers and the Amish? They seem to share much in their larger views on community and peace.
3-What do Quakers think of Nixon? I know that Hoover's more peaceful foreign policy makes him an ideal Quaker, but what of Nixon?
Thank you for the informative videos.
