Muscle endurance is an entirely different issue than cardiovascular endurance, and takes years to develop. I'm pretty sure Nick Barker, Gene Hoglan etc, etc, have fantastic muscle endurance in the muscles they use for drumming, thus reducing the cardiovascular demands required. How on earth they manage to maintain their size given the amount of exercise they get confuses me.

Marthus has a far less relaxed, more machine-like style than many metal drummers, Scott Ellis (Warface youtubes) for eg. has a very different style. This style of play requires more muscularity, regular gym attendance would certainly be helpful for someone who wishes to play in this way but for the most part there's no better training for an activity than the activity itself, drum hard 'til you're knackered, get food and liquids in there, go again tomorrow. DC

Mrthus is playing from his 6. In 15 years old, he was admitted to Leoš Janáček Conservatory, where he graduated in drums and piano. He is way better drummer that Adrian was. I think everyone can hear it on goodspeed on devils thunder.
