  • I always looked at tankers as being like the armored knights of the middle ages. while it is proof against small arms if its on the feild it draws fire away from the infantry someone tryed to tell me in the 90s that infantry and tanks were obsolete. I told them that had been said ever since end of ww2 wasn't true then nor now in my opinion.

  • I know that the chalenger 2 is the current MBT of the UK but are chalenger 1s still in service as well?

  • @sass225 No. The Challenger I is no longer in service with the British Army.

  • @VickersIndependent

is this report true? Most sad about the Challenger 2 is that the UK is cutting on them drasticly. Leaving only about 200. Which gives the UK a weak army. Weaker then current Greece, France, Germany and Spain and comparable to Italy.

These cuts mean that the current UK Army is weaker then the Dutch army of 1999 (which had 330 Leopard 2 at the time).

Although this itself says nothing about its quality. But its still very sad because its a good tank

  • @sass225 It is true. There are no more British Challenger Is. The British Army was sold all too short on Challenger and the Chieftan leaving service so early. In fact no other tank from the early 60s could hold their own on a modern battlefield as well as the Chieftan. Also tanks are still crucial in the modern battlefield, and ,if anything I would argue that tanks are more like the modern cavalry. watch?v=MpMkdDd0Lgg

  • @VickersIndependent eygpt has a lil over 1000 m1a1 mbt that she bought before the gov fell to whomever took over I susspect it will turn out to be the muslim brotherhood or a spin off operation of them If syria also goes to control of people who would rather die so long as they take alot of folks with them israel may find herself fighting from all four directions the m1a1 cost $5mil each I imagine challenger 2 not much cheaper

  • @VickersIndependent America is going to have to drasticly make cuts and raise taxes soon I realise the military will have to tighter its belt but i hope there smart enough to spread the pain across the board there will be government lay off as well people that thought they had secure work will find its just not so I worked as armed security specialist on federal contract 8 years now I make 1/3rd of what i did but no ones shooting at me or trying to blow me up
