i need ur help i just got my padKONTROL an i cant get it to work , i have windows vista 32bit an its not showin up as a midi i got the update an nothin help
Thank you very much for helping me get the most out of my padKONTROL investment, I know I made the right decision, but we do need some help. I hope KORG donates some equipment or cash for your time and effort, I do not see anyone at KORG supporting us with quality video tutorials or making the padKONTROL look as good as you do (unless you already work for them?). Great videos and instructor
Yo man nice vid . i can finally get the pad kontrol to work with ableton but im super confused. i get lost assigning things in ableton mostly cause i dont know how. After i press the midi button everything turns purple . from then on what do i do?
mate, you clearly possess some awesome knowledge of this device and have tested it thoroughly. please, slow these videos down a notch, it's too much information for the lesser trained. in any case, killer video.
I'm considering buying this thing, but i'm wondering do i get any program included in the package, or do i have to buy it seperatly and if so, what program is recommended for the Korg Padkontrol?
i would suggest using ableton live 8 it also works with most daw's ( digital audio workstations ) im pretty sure u get a korg soft synth package with most korg padkontrol packages also it works with a heap of vst plug ins like bfd etc etc .....
Great tips thanks for posting this series of videos. I just picked up a padKontrol and have a lot to learn about setting it up and using. Your videos are helping a lot.
So, I just bought one of these at a guitar center, but I believe it was used and I didn't get the software. I was wondering if there was away of producing sound out of it without software?
it has usb so u can use that or just one midi cable for all the pads. each pad transmits a note which can be set on the padkontrol itself. i use ableton w/ a padkontrol and it is sooooo legit...
I'm trying to hook the pK with Ableton Live. My computer is recognizing and transmitting (im almost positive) to Ableton Live but I can't hear a thing out of my laptop speakers when I hit my pK... What is going on/what do I need to do?
Yes, but remember that the padKontrol is not a stand-alone unit. It needs to have software backing it up to provide the sounds.
You can either hook it up to your computer and plug your headphones into the audio out or buy a MPC5000 or something with a hard drive if you want it on the road....
I've never personally used Cubase, but in Logic you have the option of setting your own latency settings. Right out of the box, when I plugged it in, Logic was set to have 0ms latency and use as much CPU power as possible. I later changed it to about 3ms and lessened the processor load.
All in all, latency depends on your computer, not your software or control surfaces. I have a 2.33Ghz, 2GB RAM iMac and it handles at least 16 tracks at once in Logic with no problems....
hey man, you know on the PK how you can hold the message button and press panic or watever, can u make your own messages, i dont get what there for. are there any cool things you can do with them?
Your videos are very helpful. Information is presented in a clear and easy to understand method. I was very impressed with the cool things you did with the pad. Thanks a lot for your video. sincerely, a drum n bass artist who is trying tto get the most out of his pad kontrol. YOU ROCK!!
first off nice demo i've owned this thing for three months and what you have shown here just opened up a world of possibilities for me. as for everyone else go buy this thing. it's only like $150 but i must stress it does not make sounds it is just a controller.
i like the snare stand i dea. i use a telescopic monitor stand for mine so i can pull it out over my keyboard and angle it the way i want.
Hey, I would like to know what program you are using. I have a mac and use reason (which I am getting sick of) and I have Garage Band, which is actually better for me to use with the padKONTROL. I also have logic, but I hardly ever use it because its just so much easier to use reason/garage band, and I need a reccomendation for some new software because I realize how much more I can do with it from watching your videos. Can you help me out?
what software where you using beacuse im having a nightmare with mine in some programs theres no sound and some others dont seem to appear any where after I install them
dude this shit u are doing with the padkontrol is fucking sick. you should send this video to korg and go work for them, thats what james bernard did for a while. i didn't even know you could do stuff like this with it like ROLLING through filters and waveforms and all kinds of shit like that. INSPIRING to say the least.
I am struggling like hell with this thing. I'm all types a new to Midi always wanting to keep it 'natural.' But their is no denying it's power when I watch a vid like this... It makes me happy and pissed at the same time. I wanna be able to that shit! I need you to give me a seminar dude...
Again, the whole PK series of unofficial vids. Good stuff, no BS, simple explanation. Korg should be paying you for this. lates, hit me back on the Tascam us2400 thing...
Hey, question - If you use the USB to power the PK, does that mean that you don't have to use any midi cables? Is it still all synced up / connected to your progs to trigger sounds?
Really useful info. But I haven't been able to get my flam and roll functions to work with Live 6. They work with Reason just fine, though. What CC's do you have assigned to enable these to work?
Hey Fella, I am working with a RM1x, Korg EMX1 and now the Yamaha RS7K. Since I can also use samples with the RS7K do you still recommend the Korg padKontrol?... Yamaha dont have the same facilities but still it's so easy to use them!... Plus after 7 years using the RM1x the buttons are getting a bit hard... never happens with pads.
fer chrissake people... if you cant be bothered reading the manual for the most basic of functions then dont expect someone else to drop everything and come running to your assistance..
hey man can ya help me? i try to insert drums to my controller from the padKONTROL editor libraian. but when i click transfer it says midi device is not specified.. man thanks.
The usb driver loads several ports. There isn't any documentation on which port to use. Either try each port, or go into your Midi software (Reason, Live, Fruityloops) and see which port gets activated when you try to detect the control surface.
Man I hear ya! I never fully learned how to use my now broken mc-303. I want to buy a new set up and people give me advice but I must be missing a step somewhere. I already know I can write tunes but ?????????
make sure you have the pad you want to roll set up to accept the roll function... Hit "Settings", then hold down the Roll button and all the pads that lights up are the one that allows rolling... You can just hit a "non-lighting" pad to make it accept rolling...
i forgot i have a question about pk, because i bought one resently but i can't get the illumination mode on :S i don't know how to get it working. Can you help me?'
Mine should be arriving on Wednesday :)
This video is making the suspense even greater.

How would you use this with say...ableton live?
Would you just plug it in with one midi wire and then map the sounds to the pads, or have a wire for each pad?
I really would appreciate any help you guys can offer, Im thinking of buying :)
