In my opinion Regina is classical music personified. So proficient and intellectual that only some can truly appreciate it. I also love how her songs instill some music theory. I mean just how she sings... some verses are sung in staccato, spiccato, legato... I've never heard a pop "artist" sing in variations. I've never even heard them sing. I've only heard them talk with annoying pitches.

oh god.. wait till you hear Blue Lips, One More Time With Feeling, Time is All Around... Loveology and the ever-secret Begin to Hope track (no not the album, this song was only performed once by Regina) and her other genius work. To me Us is one of what I like to call "minor" works, meaning it's great but not as great as the rest her talent spewed :D. If you have heard the songs I mentioned, different strokes for different folks y'know?

i think Us is actually the only song that is sub par in her performances, but only for the sole reason that the album recording is pure perfectance! She doesn't have the string quartet, the amazing piano sound, and the vocal line is extremely difficult to pull of live. That particular recording makes the song one of her best in my opinion.

I agree that she was probably nervous. The version she did the day after, at the House of Blues in San Diego, to a much smaller venue...much better. She rushed some parts and is going off much more than I've ever heard her go live. She's an amazing performer though..when I saw her I wanted to cry from how good she was. What an amazing live artist. Just wish this version was better..or that I had a recording from HOB :)
