  • Dream Theater es la mejor banda del planeta!

    desde Chile

    sXr

  • It's kinda interesting how the lyrics (at least at the beginning of this part) parallel what James LaBrie went through up until his voice returned; how he went through so much time and healing, and when SDOIT came out, it was back, very fun thought, for me at least.

  • i never thought of that. that's so true though!

  • amazing

  • 1:07 HELL YEAH JAMES!

  • MPortnoy won't be the best drummer ever, but is so cool to see playing and it feels he is enjoying every drumhit he does. I love his style.

  • 2:40 to 2:59 man... this is just beautiful, i don't know what snaps me inside more, the strings.... or just John and MP... or both.

  • haha damn dude you really are so true for me alotta times i go to just this single point in the whole song it is truly a beautiful section of the song for me dude its just everything! it all blends so amazing together getting the real violins in their really kicks it up a ahuge notch as you prob can recall on the studiop version its just oohs and ahhs by rudess haha peace man

  • at 1:05 mike plays tripplets just how he wants the other try to check what time signature he is in ;)

  • Amzing, i love that riff in the begining

  • 1:47 to 2:23 OMFG that is soooo good

  • :01 to 4:08 OOOMG, frikin amazing lol

  • hes better than the first singer. i only liked the first guy 4 his choice of notes in the songs . . . like Afterlife

  • Why LaBrie always comes to the stage with his hand up?

  • 1:56 and on... = business

  • i've been a fan of metallica for years, but DT is always d best :)

  • I'm not fan of Metallica but of Yes, Genesis, Toto because are very goods like musicians

  • This is the only song I don't like James's voice. :/ it's deffinitely instrumental material, but James is still the best!

  • LOL...dont know who started that metallica discussion but are so not even worthy to be mention in the same sentence or context as dream theater. I mean c'mon... I dont even think there's one group out there that can match DT's talent and epic master pieces. If there are any please mention... always nice to hear new stuff.

    DT 4 ever

  • I´m a fan from Metallica but amen brother!!!

    DT rules 4 ever )))

  • Just to make sure im not insulting you or too many Metallica fans Im very aware of Metallica's amazing success and super fan base. Plus I used to admire them for years. My taste and search for personal better music as lead me to DT. Metallica is still a huge influence today and will always be until history and on. But DT #1 ... lol

  • Yes there is.

    DragonForce.

    *Runs*

  • oh no you didn't.

  • One word. "Rush".

  • in EXACTLY 2:50-2:52..

makes you wanna change from guitar to bass..

damn.. john myung is the righteous influence.

  • dream theater way best than mettalica

  • METALLICA SUCKS BALLS. DT PWNS THEM

  • Metallica And DT are both Great. I don't like one over the other.

  • DT is better but how dare you insult the legends of thrash metal? Fuck off

  • this is for jmiester . . . metallica has some sucky songs, where DT has . . . none

  • dude come on -7??? little did everyone know, i like DT more than Metallica

  • not many bands have the skills, the right sound or the balls to play with a full orchestra. these guys do it so flawlessly that its just amazing...

  • metallica sucks balls.. they're not good..

and i don't like there repetitive songs.

  • the intro is probably the most badass thing ever

  • most definetly

  • amen.

  • wow. Now this is the labrie we all know and love.

  • I would have loved to have heard what the orchestra members thought of all this. Must be quite a trip playing with a band like DT.... By the way, just scored 8th row seats to the 8/29 show at the Greek in LA!!!!

  • Damn awesome! It is one song that the orchestra contributed a lot! Fucking perfect execution... Rudess is... ow i am speechless...

  • Myung has the most beastly fretting fingers. I need more shots of that tank rocking out. One of the best Bassists in fucking ever.

  • Man...DT already amazes me, but this vid takes it to a whole new level. Gottal ove DT!

  • Dream Theater is one of the few bands in modern music that are musically interesting and can actually play their stuff right when they play live.

  • this band is the best ever this song is the shit, kind of reminds me of sammy hagar lol portnoy looks awesome when hes drumming hes smiling the whole time

  • Metallica is shit.

  • Jordan and John's duels are the best. He like the greatest keyboardist ever.

  • 2:05 is my ringtone! haha it makes me not want to answer the phone so i can hear more lol

  • I love those moments when JP is rocking next to JM !!!

  • this is the WORST song of 6 degrees! omfg its puree Shiiit!...

IM JUST KIDDING HAPPY APRIL FOOLS, FOOLS!! ENJOY IT

  • And I was just about to thumbs down! LOL you got me there!

Thumbs up and I totally agree (about the second part).

  • I wish John Myung had a better stage presence I always see him in the same spot, he's still my favourite bassist though!!!

  • He is very shy =\ I wish too that he had a greater stage presence.

  • John Myung already has stage presence! If you see him in concert sure he doesn't move around, but you see him rocking with the music and you see him also playing around. Maybe he's not too much of a goof.

Plus, he is our Dark Master....who needs stage presence?

  • I totally agree, he would rather play incredibly than try to look. He lets his music do the talking for him, he is a true artist (as is the rest of the band).

  • man when the guitar played and band entered i got goosbums, i cant wait till i play live with my band

  • 3:37 i get chills. all the time. because its just so epic

  • The key/string part at 2:41 is incredible!

  • i agree

  • totally agree with most comments! 1:56 to 3:17 is one of the best pieces of DT made or perhaps in modern music generally. No keyboard player can deny the excellence of that minisolo, Christ!

  • Jordan Rudess is my favorite band member. GOD HIS KEYBOARD SOLOS ARE FUCKING AMAZING!!!

  • for me, the riff is Van Halen~ish. the 0:23 legato sounds like a VH tapping.

  • 2:23 - 2:59 is epic as FUCK

  • Petrucci's most amazing riff ever!!!

    Love IT!!!!

  • I love the JR sound at 3:32

  • That conductor was totally rokin' out. He must think he's part of the band.

    Great job DT!!!!

  • 2:40 and so on is just the best

  • dream theater at their peak, wow

  • This live show is 10 times better than S+M :D

  • a load of notes

  • I love the horn part at 3:35 :)

  • So great that JM almost always plays the same like JP it's awesome and I love this reprise

  • 2:23 is like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA so great!

  • Stick hit at the end! :O

    :O

  • Awesome opening riff. It's pretty easy to play, but it sounds GREAT.

  • I know been playing guitar for years but the two guys who have inspired me the most is John Petrucci and Steve Vai loved the g3 show when they played together.

  • the decending keyboard scale at the beginning of this song badass

  • Why has MP a mirror near his kit???

  • So he can see the visuals behind him. He likes to keep control of things :).

  • it's not to see the visuals, it's to see the conductor of the orchestra. MP is the "timekeeper" of DT, and the conductor is the "timekeeper" of the orchestra, so the mirror helps them keep time together.

  • i love dream theater, i worship them. but why in the hell does labrie always when singig live say "why" instead of "i"?

  • hahahahaha!!

like the way he sings endless sacrifice at budokan:

    Moments wasted

    O-Isolated

    Time escaping

O-Endless sacrifice (i hate that too)

is just the way he sings or is he bored of singing the same all the time?? :/

anyway, DT is the BEST of the world!!!

  • I like him

  • James Labrie's octave jump at 1:07!! He's so awesome!

  • Sounds like two octaves to me.

  • beautiful lyrics

I can't get enough of this!!

  • Holt shit, is Petrucci on 'roids? He has gotten ripped since Metropolis pt2.

  • this is the best dream theater intro i've ever heard.. petrucci is a frikin god!..

  • dream theater is the best band today,

they are the best of the moment

  • XD all the grannies can't stand the great music!

  • torak001, you suck

  • your mother sucks

  • and i fuck with yours :P

  • i love portnoy voice!

    like glass prison

    constant motion....love him!

  • LaBrie: *walks over to JP while singing* "Will you be staaaanding by?" **translation** "Will you nail the upcoming unison and instrumental mayhem section?" JP: Yup! xD

  • i love dream theater!

  • Wi'm alive again!

  • in 'solitary shell' JP uses his acoustic sound on this same guitar, and I know he has a separate output for his piezo on his guitar... I only see him using 1 cable. does anyone have an idea how he does that?? perhaps wireless??

  • He actually has two cables bound together plugged into both outputs on the guitar. It's quite a bit easier to make out if you watch the actual DVD instead of this garbage quality YouTube stuff, but that's how he's doing it. Except where you can see where they plug into the guitar, it's really tough to tell there's actually more than one cable in use.

  • So its actually a stereo cable split into 2 mono's? thanks

  • I think it's actually two stereo cables run into a sort of rubber sleeve, but it'd work either way.

  • this song reminds me of rush, imagine it with geddy lee vocals

  • i can imagine some songs but this isnt 1 of them

  • One of the best..

    1. The Dance of eternity

    2. Octavarium

    3.Dark Ethernal Night

4.About to Crash (Reprise)...but are all for the first place.. Fantastics Dream Theater ..and Jordan Rudess..the wizard..

  • hah... portnoy can sing and play this....

  • my cellphone ringtone...\\õ

  • lol same:P

  • Haha i love the little mock 'tear' Portnoy does at 1:24, without missing a beat aswell. They're all god-like.

  • They amaze me. Only band I keep coming back for. Thank you. I literally smile at the masterpiece and glad they are not known mainstream. One band I can claim as my own, even though they are known by so many.

  • constant motion/panic attack are going to be featured on rock band 2, so now every popped-collar, frat boy with an acoustic guitar purchased from hastings is gunna be walking around sporting a DT shirt.. =/

I don't like to sound like a little indie prick either, but that's almost TOO much exposure, or just the wrong kind of it.

  • That's why all the good stuff has to be looked for. As in not just given to you. Like me, someone didn't just send me music, I was just told "check them out." People like that annoyed me in highschool. But it is still great the band is getting more exposure. With more exposure comes more fans, with more fans comes more dumb asses. :D

  • Yeah i totally agree. On one hand i want people to know DT like i do, so we can enjoy it together, but the rock band exposure dosent exactly bring the best crowd around. Hopefully people will be able to enjoy and appreciate DT for the musical wonder they really are, thats all i ask.

  • lol I'm a huge DT fan but have no shirt

  • i'm a huge DT fan too, and the only shirts i have from them are from CONCERTS! WOOT

  • lol, i have the same problem too. haha.

  • A few songs may suffer from guitar hero syndrome (as with any band) but then you'll get the people that actually like dream theater as a band on the whole who will stay with them even after the hype is gone. I can admit that Guitar Hero/Rock Band got me in to a few bands, but the difference is i like a lot more of their work that just those few songs.

  • Man, as much as I think I like Dream Theater I always manage to stumble upon more songs that always blow me away. Portnoy's last trick at 4:06 is really cool, also :P

  • Thanks !the lyrics are not the same indeed

  • why is it a reprise? what does it mean

  • There is a song that is called About to crash in the same song, and its told from the viewers side, About to crash (reprise) is told from the victimes side

  • a reprise in a song/set of songs is sort of a shorter version of an earlier part in which the music comes back tot eh same themes/melodies/phrases and such.

  • that harmonic at the beginning gives me an involuntary ejaculation.

  • ahhahahahahahahahahaaahhah

    hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahah

    hahaha

    haahhaahah

  • LOL

  • hahhahahaha xDD yeyee at 0:09

    xD

  • I love that shirt on Mike!!!! Does anybody know where can I buy a shirt like that??? Look very cool!!!

  • Ebay is your answer.

  • did'nt hetfield wear one of those on S&M?

  • spensers

  • James LaBrie kicks major ass. I've never heard a singer that contributes so much to the music as a whole like he does.

  • fuck off you blowjob

  • I think Labrie is a damn good vocalist for what he does, and i think i had the worst first impression of him of anyone. I first heard him when he did a cover for Master of Puppets, which sounded like someone was gargling fresh dog shit in 100 degree weather. then i heard the album Scenes from a memory, and it Wowed me so much, even after that shit fest. Bravo!

  • hoooly shit same thing. that master of puppets cover lol'd me. but then i heard the song Lie and teh nSolitary Shell and i though to myself.. .versatility wow.

  • Josh pol, jeśli myślisz, że jesteś w stanie tak wysoko śpiewać jak LaBrie, to śmiało, wmawiaj to sobie. Ma unikalny głos, który idealnie pasuje do DT.

    Peace!

  • i bet you can sing better, right??

what bothers me about the coments about labrie, is that im sure that the people who coments cant even tune. so, if you cant make it, dont criticize the ones who are doing it.

  • im glad you can sing better than him, but DT members think that HE IS the right singer for them.

nobody but them can say who is or who isn´t the right singer for them.

PD: I want to see if can even talk after a poisoning and a vocal damage like the one labrie has.

  • yes, what petro said. Never question the infinite wisdom of Dream Theater

  • Can has Apollo Papathanasio please?

Also, some songs are more suited for Dominici, IMO.

  • This song is amazing!

  • this song is a masterpiece

  • So true, there isnt a better suited vocalist for Dream Theater.

  • All I want to do is cry when I hear this song =') Even when I'm High!!

(Listen and you will understand )

  • This is one of my favorite songs... I LOOOOOOVE the instrumental interlude !!! LOOOOOOVE IT

  • Yeah, 6DOIT it's my favorit DT song and About To Crash (Reprise) is simply great

  • I love the intro guitar riff, then Rudess does the piano slide! Haha awesome

  • Portnoy is a feckin' beast!

  • i think you might like goodnight kiss, another day and anna lee... those are tough metal badass songs, go for it

  • You're a dipshit. You don't even understand the concept of the fucking album, search wikipedia for it.

As for instrumentals, Dance of Eternity, Stream of Consciousness, Home is a good one but there's vocals, same with Endless Sacrifice.

Try Honor thy Father, Octavarium, I'll find some more later.

  • Go fuck yourself.

I mean, yeah. People suffering from rare, but atrocious mental afflictions has been used as lyrical content by SO MANY other bands. It's been OVERDONE TO DEATH, GOOD GODS, IT'S SO LAME.

Asswipe. If you're as ignorant as you sound, natural selection would've done away with you MANY years ago if it were only still around...-_-.

  • how bout you dont listen to dream theater? if you dont like every member of DT, your not worthy enough to like the band

  • Even though I get so high

I know that I will never fly

And when I fall out of the sky

    Who'll be standing by?*******

    You're such a stupid shit

  • These Lyrics are written by Petrucci. LaBrie mostly has nothing to do with the Lyrics of DT, they are always by Petrucci, Portnoy or sometimes Myung. So please dont tell us shit.

  • yeah he's right!

  • Um...no he's not. Myung has written close to ZERO lyrics for Dream Theater. And Labrie has written close to 10.

  • yeah but i wasn't talkin about myungman ;]

  • Myung has written some of the best lyrics, such as Learning to Live, Trial of Tears, etc.
