  • Of course I listened to this song back in the 70's, but it was VERY wrong to put it in " A Very Brady Sequel". Especially during the moment it was being played.

  • I think this is the best version of this song.

  • I hope this dude's wife didn't hear this!

  • I was a child when this song was out...knew nothing about love, broken homes, the other woman, none of that...and some how this is still the most haunting song ever...This is the fist recording I ever heard, where I believed the singer

  • i lovee this sonq <3

  • Am I wrong to hunger for the gentleness of your touch?!?

  • No freaky stuff then? Where the hell did he grow up? 0_0

  • Came across this after hearing a sample in great hiphop beat. One my favorite things of samples, something nice enough & I'll go back, listen to & enjoy the original source material as much as what it was sampled in. Great stuff.

  • @bmowood29 lmao!!

  • My Nigga Luther Ingram

  • am I the only one who thinks he looks gay as shit on that pic at 1:26?

  • luthars version was original I guess.

  • Yes, you are right. And Wrong. In 1974 Millie Jackson sang it also. Before Barbara Mandrell in 1978. But I do really think this guy messed it up by singing it from the woman's point of view. Just my opinion, but it is still a wonderful song.

  • YEA STR8 CLASSIC & TRUE

  • Thanks. Takes me back.

  • Sandra Dee Lawson.

  • Great tune.

  • 1972 first girl friend when i heard this song

  • There are those who have one too many and there are those who remain single forever. At the end of the day you win some but lose some.

  • Absolute 100% classic!

  • love this song

  • Yes a great original, check the homage to it by local band (to me anyway) Stone Foundation just released as a B-Side to their new single (not sure I can actually post URLs in here as getting an error)

  • Its no future in loving a married man:-(

  • Hit #1 on the Billboard R&B chart for 4 weeks in July 1972

  • @theonlymoo5e Don't forget it peaked at #3 on The Pop Charts(Hot 100) in summer 72'

  • @rufus317 I know that, I've got books with the final chart stats for Billboard pop (pre-rock era & rock era), Billboard country, Billboard R&B, Billboard adult contemporary & adult Top 40, Billboard dance, Billboard mainstream rock & modern rock, Cashbox pop & UK pop. Also the Billboard Christmas chart, pop album chart & country album chart. In total 11 books & 4 dvd-roms of music stats

  • @theonlymoo5e I hope you didn't get offended or anything.I only put that there because I saw noone else did and noone mentioned the song sold 4 million copies.

  • This song is REAL... it the truth to some many ppl's situation. Its bringing tears to my eyes!!

  • i hate it when people make stupid remixes to good old songs like this thank god u put up the original :D

  • @jrific actually that isnt the case. If you listen to the song closely, it says "your friends tell YOU there is no future in lovin a married man..." and "am I wrong to fall so deeply in love with you, knowin I got a wife and two little children..." and "are YOU wrong to give YOUR love to a married man." He's the married man with a wife & 2 kids and he's talkin to the other woman. :)

  • @haynesalexis Thanks Old school for putting that in perspective, grew upon this old school stuff and it was real and the off the hook , none of that freaky stuff then,

  • @norfleetw you're soooo welcome hun!

  • @jrific Hey man wake up !!! Luther is singing about an extra marital relationship with a woman, I dont know that you are reading into those lyrics but the man is talking about a man and woman relationship so do us all favor and listen to lyrics without any preconcieved notions about homosexuals then you will know where he is coming from.

It is filled with so much pain in anguish but the man just can't let go even though he know it is wrong who hasn't been in that situation omG !!!

  • @jrific I don't consider having 20 R&B hits between 1969 & 1987 being a one hit wonder. It may have been his only #1 hit, on the R&B chart, but it wasn't his only Top 10 hit on that chart.

  • @jrific the original was sung by a country and western female singer. that is why it is like that.

  • @274Lustral I don't know where you got the information from: but if the "country and western female singer" you are talking about is Barbara Mandrell, then you are wrong. Luther's version was released in 1972 while hers came out in 1978. No offense, just point out the facts. Correct me if i'm wrong.

  • @jrific fag...

  • @jrific 1 hit wonder? delete you youtube account

  • If loving this song is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

  • every time this song starts up, a baby is made.

  • Baby, if loving you is wrong, then i wanna be wrong forever.......

  • I mean, I ''like'' today's music and all. But, ''today's music'' hasn't got SHIT on THIS!!! Someone please tell me who will still be listening to Drake 10 years from now?! I'll wait....

  • Love this song. So happy you put the original song up.
