Cannot believe what little the Allies did when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia. To this day, the Czechs and Slovaks still don't fully forgive the Allies for what they did, (or didn't) do.
the Nazis were brilliant at having such a jovial society become so fanatically militaristic, they made sure everyone was engrossed in it, that they belonged to a higher destiny- it was as if it was a fun game to them.
What did the Czechs and Slovaks EXPECT?? Regardless of WHEN the Allies entered the war, THEY were doomed once Sudetenland was take. And the war effort was successful because Nazis crushing defeats in the East besides once the war was over Czechs and Slovaks LOLLL welcomed USSR
I was born in 1981 and have seen relative peace in the world and a constant peace slope in my native Costa Rica, yet, when i look at the signs of our times I cannot help but fear what seems the unavoidable. Why must making always tire of peace and turn back to the savage way?. While the West World sleeps peacefully with the reassurance of status quo, Eastern Europe boils in nationalistic turmoils and the yonder east cannot cease to to conciliate modernism and pride a-bashed. It ricks of war...
The problem with the Czech question is that Russia and Poland both carved up a portion BEFORE Hitler even thought of doing anything. So Since the Allies did absolutely nothing about Russia And Poland Carving up Czech territory before he even started in on Austria. he knew the hypocrites would do nothing.
All Chamberlain's fault for following appeasement. I know that public opinion didn not want another war but he could have at least "deterred" Hitler. He should have listened to Churchill, should have made an alliance with Stalin and could have "contained" Hitler. Appeasement was such a stupid policy!
Hindsight is 20/20 - would you have taken Churchill's advice on Gallipoli?
Appeasement or continuing Irish occupation?
"Gallipoli was one of the Allies great disasters in World War One. Gallipoli was the plan thought up by Winston Churchill to end the war early by creating a new war front that the Central Powers could not cope with.
On November 25th 1914, Winston Churchill suggested his plan for a new war front in the Dardanelles to the British governments War Council. On January 15th 1915"
Sorry to reply to a 10 month old comment, but had Galliopoli been executed earlier it would probably have been a success, as Churchill later commented, by the time the landings actually took place the Turks had had plenty time to prepare.
The idea of creating another front wasn't a bad idea, but the execution of the attacks was awful. Units failed to reach the high ground everytime, even when suprise was achieved.
Not sure you realize just how the Soviets were seen at the time. The Bolshies were a taint on civilization ... and were the greater danger until even probably the outbreak of war with Germany. It was quickly forgotten however that the Russians invaded and stole half of Poland along with Germany in September ... An alliance with Stalin was very unlikely while France still stood.
The Russian invasion of Poland really was a lost fact in many of the history books and the movies that shape most people's understanding of historical events.
When you look at movies with historical events as their basis, it's amazing how a successful interpretation of a figure can shape their legacy in pop-history.
Thinking about it reminds me of Mr Nelson's High School English class and Marshall McLuhan's "The Medium is the Message"

Ive just had a beer food black forest cake week in our true Fatherland, The spirt of Der Fuhrer lives on the the people are very proud of him and love the great man.
Im not defending Hitler in anyway & none of us care for the atrocities that the Nazis committed however you do have to admit that he was a very passionate speaker and had excellent leadership skills to have nearly taken over the world. It is fortunate however that he had 2 major downfalls of pride & arrogance. Just because a man is a monster does not mean he does not have great leadership skills & great speaking skills because those are needed for a maniac to have a following as he did.
"none of us care for the atrocities that the Nazis committed however"
That might not be quite strong enough of a disclaimer for the vast majority of humanity.
Many people have great skills that enable them to manipulate others. Germany of that day was ripe for someone who's only motivation was to control as many as they could and being afflicted with who knows how many flavors of mental illness - and having many others in his power group who had no empathy for anyone...
... If someone sells you swamp land in Florida because he makes a very convincing presentation that the investment will set your family for life and make your children and grand children rich and powerful for hundreds of years to come; at the point you realize that he has walked off with your life's savings, do you hold that person up as the a great salesman and leader, as you and your family are evicted from your home and have nothing to eat?
hitler was a little bitch that took his own life and ava's because he was too much of a pussy to be punished for his war crime's. not to mention trying to take over the world. if he was a true leader he would of stood up for his country as a leader after the war instead of taking the easy way out. whether he was a good person or not. and we know he wasn't a good person.
Thats a lot of f*cking Nazi's in one place...too much hatred in one video...the only good thing about this video is that it shows the world what not to do in the future: allow a crazed man to exert so much power which in turn destroys the world. We've already failed too often at preventing crazed men so maybe if we teach people about them they will take note in the future...I doubt it though...just random thoughts on a bad topic.

Never have I seen a documentary with such amazing narration. Only Brian Sewell could've done better.

The 'narrator' is Laurence Olivier --arguably the greatest actor (and voice) of the 20th Century.

Churchill was a very different leader in 1915. Much more of a self-promoting politician during those years who thought he could do no wrong.

I think that you will get plenty of insight on the day to take a dirt nap. My guess is that you will become whatever you fear most in the afterlife.
Seek therapy. Get off drugs. Get a life.
Hitler was just another coward who could not bear to suffer the consequences of his crimes.
His life was a failure of the gene pool combined with child abuse.

Hate to break this to you but...
Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead, as is Hitler - and you will be too one day.
Karma is going to be a bitch.
