Damn, I don't know which one I like more. I'd have to say this one though. However, keep in mind that the original wasn't finished, so who knows what it could've sounded like.
just for the record, none of the members' solo albums sound anything at all like the Beatles. That is what made them so awesome, everyone brought something different to the table. That is what made them so awesome as a group! Just saying....
I cant decide which version I like better. This one is surely more George-y, while the other one is more Beatle-y. I prefer his voice in this one though.
This sounds a lot smoother than The Beatles version. This is more Harrison than that version. It is friggin awesome sounding on vinyl. He is the epitomy of warm sounding records.
I have this album, since it first came out. Definitely one of the very best of Beatles solo album. That Fender Rhodes was so popular in 1979, even I had one (a 72 keys.)

This is the song that set the all time record for takes for the Beatles. 102 takes. Shows how much they beat a song to death to make it work. Incredible being that it's a pretty lame song, like something Phil Collins or Alicia Keys would write, just lame lounge shit..
I don't expect to take your heart. I only want what I can get!
Great line. I used to sing that to myself when I would get too obsessed with a girl that didn't reciprocate the feeling. It would return me to reality.
I listen to The Beatles version when I wanna listen to rock and get excited I listen to this version when I want to get calm and just relax. Both great versions, but I still like The Beatles version better
This is George Harrison's solo release version of the song he originally wrote in 1968 The Beatles did not use this in any of their latter albums before they broke up in 1970 so George released this revamped version in 1979.The Beatles version was finally released on their Anthology 3 album in 1996. This is also the final song in the long running BBC's Radio Two's Sounds Of The Sixties that started with John's A Day In The Life in 2005 and ended on the 28th August 2010 with George's 'Not Guilty'
The BBCs Radio 2s Sounds Of The 60s Beatles A to Z song for week startg SAT28AUG10 The final instalment of the series that started with John's A Day In The Life. The history Not Guilty can be heard for 1 week after Aug28 by going to the prog site. Sorry only a few hours left. Recorded over 3 days in 1968 "it wasn't issued at the time so 11 years later George recorded another version releasing it on his solo album" The Beatles version was on Anthol3 in 1996. Both versions are played on the program
I say, they should have added this to the album, not omitted a song because of it. Whether or not i like any of the songs originally on the album, they were imperative for that particular time and narrative. I'm sure they could've squeezed on one more song, especially for this. It's fantastic. Nobody does anger better than George (in my opinion, because he's not obvious like John. He makes you feel bad for being mean. It's sick!)
Whether it's the original 'raw version' of the song, or this more 'elegant' version which George finally did on his album, the lyrics have the same strong message -
not a bad version, but I prefer the older of 1968, it´s a pity that it wasn´t included on White Album instead Revolution 9 or Why don´t we do it in the road or Wild Honey Pie.
@MichalFokt Rev. 9 yes, Wild Honey Pie yes, but Why Don't We Do It In The Road? I think not. But I do agree that this song should have been on the white album, especially after 102 takes
@MichalFokt I agree. The version thats on Anthology 3 is much better, angrier and with more bite.Musically thats the better version. This is too tame in comparison.
I prefer this version, it sounds mucher purer than the beatles version

Me too, but that wasn't a demo. It was a track recorded for the album but left off for some reason.

There's a little more of a sting in the White Album cut. Closer to the bitter times, I guess.
