YES!!! Frank zappa wouldt have spent his two legs to play such nice melodies with such a "leight" feeling! I couldt listen to him 24 hours a day. Try that with Holdsworth!
I was lucky enough to meet him! He came to our School in Lerwick (The town where I live) and play some Blues and Jazz stuff. It was pretty fucking inspiring to watch him play!
I don't know what's so hard about playing the fucking original notes of the solo; unless he didn't do it. C'mon!!!! It's what made them rich to begin with.
no, he's Peter Beckett, which sang with AP only live in that years. John Miles has been, however, present in the majority of the NOTP concerts. AP and JM are both present in the German shows of the NOTP09 currently starting. See alanparsonsmusic(dot)com or notp(dot)com
i've just learned that Ian was born in Levenwick..and even visits my new hiding place ..Sandwick...crikey..I've heard this gtr solo before but never knew it was him!...Wonderful playing!..that Kate connection in my life is like freakily beautifully unavoidable!
BesidesAlan Parsons, he has also worked with: Hudson-Ford, Paul McCartney & Wings,Steve Harley, Kate Bush,Chris De Burgh,Jon Anderson, Bucks Fizz, Elaine Paige, Paris, Mick Fleetwood,Bananarama, Esther Ofarim,Prelude,Keats, Kenny Rogers,David Sylvian, Tom Jones, David Paton, Tam White, Marian Gold, Stefano Pieroni, Beverley Craven, Jim Diamond, Marajan, Takafumi Ishida, Mary Mac, Jargon, Manolo Garcia, Alfonso XII, Carola, and Liverpool Express.
I can't imagine Alan Parsons Project without Ian Bairnson. He playes the solos with his heart. One of the best guitar player of the world...Great musician.
First heard him with pilot in the seventies,he is so melodic and fluid !!!,amazing !!!

This is really cheesy. I was blown away by his playing on Wuthering Heights but this doesn't do it for me
Claptonmachine 1 year ago
@Claptonmachine Did you expect him to play a Wuthering Heights type solo on this track? ... Surely not.
This song is pop/rock and the solo is absolutely appropriate.

Um,I know Ian a little bit via fan contact and he is a very genuine player and person/ great guy. His roots are in a blues style of playing.
With this being said,I hope I'm not talking out of place on it but,What is the magic of playing note for note the original version always?
To me, it might even get boring and a bit
predictable to just go there.
So,I like the surprises he did and he still maintains the feel and the basic melodic intregrity of the original.
Yes,he did it. Original!

I've been a fan of Ian's for as long as he's been with Alan Parsons. His liquid, legato style of playing is just the best!

pretzeldonuts 4 years ago 10
You guitar guys that wanna 16 notes per bar, listen to this first. Thats a smooth guitar solo, note perfect, you hear any better than this.
