I am a Black man and have seen things like this before. As horrible as American slavery was, I also know that nearly every culture had slavery at one point or another. The American Indians had slaves. the Romans had slaves. MANY African tribes enslaved others, and so on.
I also realize that there were tyhousnds of White Christians who fought and died to end the chattel slavery system. Spouting haterd and talk of revenge is an insult to our ancestors. Let's fight to end slavery today,
From 1:00 to 1:30 he talks about how bad the sanitary conditions were. Needless to say they were bad by today's standards but even back then they were considered deplorable weren't they. By the standards of that time, what could I use by today's standards to compare it to? As bad as they frowned on it then, what fraction of the disgust would cause an equal amount of frowning today? Does anyone have an accurate estimate?
At 1:01 he says "You couldn't go to the bathroom. There was no such thing". So you had no choice but to urinate and defecate on yourself? Also get urinated or defecated on by the person next to you?
