I hate how cops have nothing better to do than to set up speed traps and write tickets. Most of these speed traps are zones where the speed limit is too low for the type of road and they know people will speed. It isn't about saving lives, it is about funding the city/county/state. While dangerous speeders should be delt with (60 in a 35 through a populated areas), going 45 in a 35 isn't hurting anyone in most cases.
@SVTcobrasn8kbite Yea I believe its worth the money. If you can get it cheaper then do it! I got mine on Ebay with a discount for a pretty nice little price. I've said it before though, If you have the money to spend on it then go ahead and do it. If you get if from the company I believe they have a trial period also so thats really nice! That may have changed though.
i wonder if they have a radar dectector with a bar display to show radar detection so i can have the volume low and if i hear the radar i can look at the display instead of having loud beeps just to warn me
hey will it detect lets say a cop a few cars behind u driving to get some donuts? or will it only detect a stopped cop car with its speed gun out or w/e?
@shirke01 Yes true. But if the detector fails the whole being a firefighter thing usually works out pretty well lol. But yes Laser is a pain. But as far as the radar gun youll usually get little blips from them shooting cars in front of you. Thankfully most cops are to lazy to hold the guns anymore so they just have the vehicle mounted devices and they just leave them on. Thats how it is around here anyways. Thanks for the comment!
@johntaylor471 Id say center off windshield, near the mirror or near the dash as long as it can see out the front and back windows well. Ive had mine in all thoughs positions and havent notice much difference in performance. As for power I keep mine on highway but thats personal preference. It really depends on where you live and where your using it. Rural county roads or highways? or Inner City travel? Thanks for the question! Hope this helps!
@BrianJ214 The Redline really just leaves the GPS option out and allows for more detection from the device thats my simple understanding. Perhaps i can get my hands on one to compare them. Im not sure about compatibility with the bumper systems either. I shall look into it and compare them I feel like I need to make another video soon at some point anyways. Thanks for the motivation lol
@iTsClAyToN1 they are pricey but I found mine on Ebay used and it works great. I also had a discount through Ebay. Bottom line you dont really have to pay the $500 BUT if you do you get the updates and service from Escort and they are great!
This lil baby alerted me of two state's running Ka 1 mile away around a corner with mild traffic while my front end was facing a 90 degree angle away from the 5 O.. amazing the range of these things. O and it is just as good when there is only one car.
@doktorcivanim1 the sensors need to be able to see through the front and rear windows. Best option is tint that doesnt affect electronics. Most reviews say that RADAR band responsiveness with the device is better at higher positions on the front windshield. BUT Laser is picked up better at lower positions due to the fact that laser is usually shot at the more reflective parts of your car. Example would be your headlights.
hey whats that thing where your rear view mirror is supposed to be, my first guess was going to be strobe lights, but you don't sound douchey enough to have one lol.
@JesBlazed1 That is indeed a light. I use it for responding to fire department calls. Its a Whelen Dual Talon I have some videos of my lights and sirens check em out if your interested. Hope being a firefighter doesnt make me douchey! lol
You have 18 seconde to slow down at like 35km? so what at 70.0km you have ...
9 secondes to slow 35 km before you get caught. Such a awesome Radar Detector.
If you cant slow down that fast then just.. Dont Drive that fast.. For the children....
Anyways, Ix Has Red Light Camera Detection Aswell. Preloaded with thousands of locations, and it remembers false alarms. AND, you can update it from the internet weekly.. the 9500ix is technically, the most up to date radar detector on the road..
@shyboybabo There is no way to detect laser before it shoots. All laser guns are instant on so that means ONLY when they pull the trigger is when it sends the laser beam and gets your speed. So when it comes to laser once you detect it (if they are shooting at you,of course) its already too late.
I've read that once you detect laser you have about 3 seconds to slow down but im not entirely sure about this.
@abram7117 A radar detector of this quality IS worth it. Radar detectors cant see through hills its one of the things the user has to consider. Now if the cop was parked on the side of the road shooting UP the hill then the radar detector has a chance of picking up the signal. Since it would have scattered bouncing off of cars and street signs.
Personally, after doing research for many weeks between this and the Escort Redline, I went with the Redline for its long range and dual antennae.
@PirateIt I do agree that with the money paid for this device it could be a bit better. but seeing as how i dont really race it doesnt affect me as it would you. Do you preffer another detector over this one like perhaps the V1? I was thinking about getting it but i got a deal on the passport.
Thanks for the great review. I am honestly grateful for your review. I am looking for something futuristic, like a radar in video games. You have moving dots in games and I wish it was like that in real life. I had a passport and it worked, but it could be a bit better.
In my opinion the radar detected the cop way too late. I'm looking for something that will detect a cop within a 15 mile radius. Unfortunately, those types of detectors don't exist.
That really isn't a piece of crap, that's a steep hill blocking his radar from being picked up, if you stop it at the 0:03 mark you can see how the radar waves being sent out are up high above your detector, no one's would pick it up either.
And Piratelt, i love driving fast & racing, but did you study that hill? If you were racing over that hill you would be gambling yours & others lives with a roll of the dice, there's a reason why it's 35 mph zone, specially at the 0:21 mark!
@PirateIt If your racing thats another story seeing as your probly going to be going 30mph+ over the speed limit. At that speed you'd need to do some serious breaking to get slowed down. I used to race while using the V1 and even then it was cutting it close.
Seem to me from lookin at this vid the V1 would have performed the same. He came up from over a hill so the radar couldnt c anything before the hill. If the road was completely flat (street racing conditions) 9500ix wouldve been better
@PirateIt thats plenty of time as soon as he came over the hill it picked it up same as the v1 or any other radar. simple solution start slowing down upon the first beep your radar gives off
Yes you would be able to slow down fast enough if you were racing, Hammerhead.
That is because this revolutionary detector adjusts it's sensitivity relative to your speed. Now open your big mouth and insert your smelly foot and tell me what your toes taste like you retard because the only piece of crap around here wedged between your ears
@PirateIt Yes you would be able to slow down fast enough if you were racing, Hammerhead.

@PirateIt do u not have breaks? he had a 23 second warning before the cop could pick up his speed while traveling 37 mph. so if you were going 150 mph, you would have 6 seconds to slow down. so unless you're drunk, you could do it no problem.
hey, i read a review that this radar with the blue display is hard to read during the day when it is really bright outside. Out of all honesty is that true or what? just curious
In this video I was right next to the beach and the sun was out lol great day for the beach. But really i've never had a problem with it. I put it on max brightness during the day and min at night and dusk. I Also have tinted windows to so i guess that might help a bit but really i cant see that changing it much at all its pretty darn bright.
ive had it both in this postion and near the wipers i think it works best where it is in this video personally not as covert but gets radar better being up higher. and because laser is shot at the head lights it is said to be better at picking up laser at a lower position. in reality this detector works best towards the middle of the wind shield just because the sensor that picks up stuff behind you can be easily blocked by the seats. its your personal preferance of course. hope that helps
well V1 has the arrows which is a really cool feature. the Passport has the GPS. the V1 is said to work better on the high way, gives you another second or two on radar. the passport does really awesome in the city and from my personal view it does fantastic on the highway to. If i could i would have both of them. but when it really comes down to it radar detector
wise i would go with the Passport 9500 ix and if i had the money i would get the 9500 ci. actually if you have the money get the ci but yea between the V1 and ix i would say yet again the ix
