We at MCCO are really glad to see the debate our video has sparked. Given our future is at stake, it makes sense that things might get a little heated but I hope we can find common ground too. We all want good paying jobs, clean air, reduced emissions, affordable and reliable energy. Is the Green Energy Act achieving these things? It's definitely not perfect, but overall, it's heading us in the right direction. What can each party do to improve the GEA and reach our common goals???
Bob here. Actually, the guy who lives in "Bob's" house. Bob, actually, lives next door. I believe Bob may own a BOB (bike trailer). And I, and my kids, have been known to bob in his pool. Great video! Next time give me a heads up and I'll mow the lawn.
@gt1902 Thanks "Bob" for use of your lovely home and the awesome rubber snake hanging on your porch railing. Obviously our motto is "shoot first, ask questions later." I was told after the fact that we nearly got the right house for Bob, but not MCC's Bob, of course.
@imN0Ttheone How can the GEA have driven up the deficit? Where do your numbers come from? The FIT only pays when power is produced and most of the projects aren't running yet. Not only that it isn't paid for with tax dollars. Looks like imNOTtheone is trolling. Make a video and show us how you would make your community more sustainable.
@imN0Ttheone You're mistaken - what is wasteful is that every person, every month, in Ontario who pays a hydro bill pays a "debt retirement charge" for the massive nuclear debt that we were left with when Ontario Hydro was sold.Clean energy incentives account for only 0.2 cents of typical 13 c/kWh households pay for electricity. Going backwards away from a renewable energy economy is not the answer of the 21st Century.
@350orbust Saying that "debt retirement charge" is just because of nuclear debt is a blatant lie and the cost of McQuintys GMA is far far far more 0.2 cents . I don't think you're fooling most people with your propaganda .
@imN0Ttheone - you are entitled to your own opinion, but NOT your own facts. The Ontario Environment Commissioner (the province’s independent environmental watchdog, appointed by the Legislative Assembly recently reported that those payouts represent less than 0.1 per cent of the energy connected to Ontario’s grid.
@imN0Ttheone The real culprit in rising hydro rates (which Hudak conveniently omits to mention) is the cost of refurbishing traditional power generation and transmission in Ontario, which had not been upgraded in decades. Hudak would love the spin you're putting on it, though.
@350orbust Bull shit . Try goggling (The Green Energy Act – The Big Green Lie!) or (Ontario's green energy policy is un-FiT for purpose ) McGuinty has bankrupted the province to the tune of over 225 billion and until we get someone in there to look at the books we really don't know the true cost of the GEA . Thank god we are going to get rid of the GEA and McGuinty this fall but the damage he and his programs have caused we will be paying for , for many decades .
@imN0Ttheone - Again, all your statements prove is one can find an unlimited range of statements on the internet - try googling "UFO's in your backyard" or "Elvis is alive" - and you'll find websites trumpeting all sorts of nonsense. However, if one is concerned about the truth/the facts, then one goes to a credible source. There are fewer of those out there, but the Ontario Environment Commissioner is one of them.
Ken O is awesome.

@Rodney, Agreed!

This is really good. We have to switch to renewable energy. And close down the coal power plants in Ontario.

@imN0Ttheone Appreciate your opinions but keep it civil, thanks.

@imN0Ttheone Once you resort to profanity and name-calling, you've lost the argument.

The Green Energy Act has wasted millions of dollars and is one of the main reasons McQuinty has driven up the deficit 300 %

@kwstevens The GMA has already cost us a 100 million in government waste
