wow ....the face in the mountain!! (4:02) I've seen this movie a million times and never noticed that . Wonder if there is supposed to be some symbolic meaning there?

Never noticed that either. And looking at it now it does seem to be intentional. Later, at about 8:50, the scene moves from Jeremiah's face watching the flames to the mountain "face" with flames. And I'm reminded of the old man talking in terms of the mountain as if it's a character, "Can't cheat the mountain, pilgrim."

i still cry everytime i see this part.

it's a great movie, not all movies have a happy story or ending. it's a shame jeremiah had to help those men find their people trapped in the woods and then come back to his family murdered.
