  • @wesman0120: Louis will play in Brighton, E.Sussex. in November. You are welcome to e-mail for details.

  • Is this what heaven is? Are there any other great players like him but with more upbeat style of playing? Thank you

  • I love how his solo totally transcends all the theoretical bull shit they teach you in school. His first lick is a Db minor pentatonic blues lick and it's over a Dmaj 7. In school they would tell you thats wrong, but it sounds great to me. This is a guy who really hears and feels what he plays. I wish there were more guys like this playing around.

  • Amazing. They make it look so easy... and its REALLY not!

  • Luthier John Moriarty sets up Louis' Guitars. He has worked to Louis' requirements making compensated bridges for improved tuning. Google: Archtop.ie

  • very good !new name for my ! fantstic guitar

  • i was always a big fan of peter ainscough... master craftsman and a true gent

  • @sussed2002 Thank you for your comment. Peter was a great friend.

  • thanks MOGLIDER for posting this. I have had the honour of playing with Louis a couple of times when he guested with our Sunday band. Singularly the greatest musician I could ever wish to play with :)

  • Do you mean the Sunday band at the Globe? That's where I started out finding the bands I wanted to book at Mezzanine--is this that Tom? This is Jamie by the way, worked as a manager at Mezz for about a year, five or six years ago..

  • nope I'm in Sligo Jamie... Ed

  • Oh, ok. thanks for getting back to me. And I think Louie Stewart is the greatest underexposed jazz musician in the world.

  • Whattt? 6:35

  • I think every aspiring guitarist should listen to you at least once a day to learn how to swing. Man you know how! I have been playing for 30 years and know how to swing but, when I really want to swing I listen to you first!!! Thanks.

  • Sorry, meant there is "No Greater guitar player". I loved that super 400 he use to play.

  • Keep them coming. This viewing should be mandory for all who aspire to true musicianship. Jim

  • Louie is one of the truly great musicians of our time, the guy can play his ass off! I`ve been watching Louie for 30 years now and played with him several times, there is No great guitar player.

  • This is crazy to watch, I just watched Louis getting schooled on how to vamp the ending of this tune with Benny Goodman, now here he is schooling Steve at the end! The student had become the master! Once again...jazz school is not like this anymore!

  • Louis has also played wonderful duets with Gene Bertoncini.Clips of these and of Gene playing acoustic guitar would be greatly appreciated.

  • It's difficult to pick and choose, but this is certainly among the very best videos of Louis that I've yet seen... just magnificent stuff. Thanks as always, MOGLIDER.

  • Derry, Northern Ireland, I believe. October 1982, in the aftermath of Steve's visit (also the great drummer Bobby Rosengarden) to the Cork Festival playing Louis' suite "JoyceNotes". This is a BBC TV b'cast.

  • My apologies for the double comment. I was having problems with my broadband connection and the first comment did not seem to register, although my sentiments were all true. Happy Christmas viewing to all.

  • Louis Stewart has played as member of Benny Goodman's Band; George Shearing's Trio &Quartet; Tubby Hayes Band; Ronnie Scott's Band.
